Work was done super quick even though our system is not cookie cutter. The gentlemen even identified an upgrade opportunity that will make closing up the system even easier. Quoted me a price on the spot (again, extremely reasonable) and we'll be having that work done in the spring when we re-open the system for next year. This is a review for a brand new home build in blue springs…read more Our home was purchased in March 24th 2023. The grass that was laid was green but really patchy. The cracks in the sod were humongous. I remember doing the walkthrough with the builders thinking these are some big cracks. Is that going to be okay. The builders said "Yeah, it should be fine..." should be? Which sounds to me that it wasn't. We called into Blue Cedar Landscape to inform the management of the low quality done to our house. The person who answered was nice and friendly but We were informed the manager was going to make a trip out to our house and examine it. We got some information about with the incoming heat of about 80 degrees we had to water our grass about 3 times a day. We're trying our best. The hose has been running none stop daily. This grass isn't getting any better. We haven't heard anything back from management. I do not now what would be done anyways but for them to come out and fix it would require a lot of work. Blue cedar has a major contract with Rausch Coleman and are probably getting rich off this while we were in a brand new home paying for a lawn that looks like garbage. I'm not even going to talk about the dead plants that we're planted in our front yard planter.... That's not my concern as much as my Grass... Maybe Blue Cedar Landscape will treat you better as a client of 1 vs a client of 100 homes. I know house mass production jobs work. It's all about knocking them out and then quality is reduced. In closing? Before closing in your new home CHECK their work. Or take a chance and hope blue cedar will do better work if you hire them individually.

Mears Lawn and Landscaping installed an irrigation system at my residence in March 2026…read more Unfortunately, my experience with the irrigation installation and follow-up service was very disappointing. On June 30, 2026, I discovered one of the backyard sprinkler lines had been buried extremely shallow. I sent a picture of the exposed sprinkler line to Mears and spoke with their Irrigation Manager. The Irrigation Manager stated he would come inspect the line on July 1, 2026. However, no one from Mears inspected the line during July 1-3. On July 3, 2026, I spoke with the owner of Mears and explained that I would be hiring another irrigation contractor to evaluate the sprinkler line depth. The owner said he thought that was a good idea. I also informed him that I would be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint. On July 9, 2026, another irrigation contractor inspected the sprinkler line and determined that portions of the line had been installed as shallow as approximately one inch deep and that part of the sprinkler line was resting on a tree root that had not been removed during the installation by Mears. The installation depth of the sprinkler line located by the other contractor was buried inconsistent with published irrigation installation guidance. Industry installation standards commonly recommend approximately 8 inches of cover for residential irrigation lines, and Hunter Industries' installation guidance recommends burying irrigation lines approximately 6-8 inches deep depending on conditions. I received Mears' written response to my BBB complaint on or about July 23, 2026. In that response, Mears stated: "Although another contractor had already been hired, we made one final attempt on July 22 to resolve the matter by offering to inspect and repair the line at no charge." That statement does not match my experience. It doesn't make sense that Mears said they offered to inspect and repair a line at no charge that had been correctly re-buried by another contractor 13 days prior to July 22, 2026. At no time did Mears offer to inspect and repair the line at no charge before or after I hired another contractor. I previously hired Mears for two retaining wall projects, and those projects were completed satisfactorily. Unfortunately, the irrigation installation and the follow-up response to a problem with the depth of a sprinkler line did not meet my expectations. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Mears for irrigation installation work.
