I signed up for a risk reduction class in December with the classes beginning on Monday, 1/12/26. I…read moredidn't receive the link until Friday 1/9/26 explaining that a workbook was needed (physical or virtual). I requested a physical workbook due to my eyesight and was told to be at the Duluth office to pick it up on Monday by 4:00 (they are not open on weekends) on the day of the class (1/12/26). I left work early and arrived by 4:00 only to find they were closed. I was told the office manager left early and I had to view the workbook electronically. That was just the first red flag. I realized early in the class that the instructor did not seem to like me by his responses to my answers to some of his questions. I was trying to show that I was present and participating, but he was condescending and he belittled/berated me if he disagreed with my responses. By the last day, he questioned in class if the children that I work with even like me (the classes are recorded). This was personally not a positive experience for me. I would not recommend. Finally, the communication appears to be primarily via text messages, and the beginning of the thread seems to be automated (at least over the weekend) since I asked questions that were never answered and the responses were generic. It asked if wanted to participate in another program, but when I asked what it was, I didn't receive an answer. If you text them with issues during the week, an actual person will respond, it just takes a while.

I had…read morean appointment at 1pm but they called me the day before at 8pm to tell me that the lesson will be at 2pm instead. It's quite ridiculous to call the customer the night before. And the instructor showed up 10 minutes late... I think they need to work on communication and punctuality. The lesson itself was ok, I thought he would have more structure to the lesson but he just let me drive wherever I wanted and gave tips as we went instead of instructing me where to go like what an actual road test proctor would do. This kind of made me feel unsafe because I didn't know where I was going and I was driving without purpose. He was very knowledgeable in parallel parking so I got a lot of help but he didn't know much about reverse parking (he said he hasn't taught someone reverse parking in a while). So if you want to take a lesson here, come prepared with questions and exactly what you want to work on because the instructor doesn't provide anything unless you ask.

We are now trying to get his ADAP certificate so he can take his driving test. After calling to get a copy of the certificate, I'm told (by someone in the office who seemed bothered by my request) that he did not participate in that part of the class. She stated that the teens are given an option to participate. This can't be true. They let a teenager choose whether or not they want to participate in this part of the program!?!. We are now stuck with tyring to figure out how to achieve this responsbility! The process is very flawed and they need to ensure that parents are aware of this option. The staff is not helpful, to the point of being dismissive!

My intake call was compassionate, friendly and understanding. As an adult driver, I felt embarrassed, but the individual who took my call was so understanding. I had lessons set up with Ms. Karen, who I HIGHLY recommend. She was patient and didn't push. After 10 lessons with Ms. Karen, I am now driving normally to my place of work and leisure. I feel like I have my life back. And that is thanks to Trillium.

The owner actually answers the phone, answers all questions, kept me calm (this is my young driver) & got us scheduled. What a nice guy - don't remember his name. The actual instuctor is also SUPER nice- says my daughter. She said he was calm, they laughed & he was great! He told me she is a great driver, so that's reassuring!!! They took 3 2-hr sessions together. First on the normal road & around town. Second day was practicing parking, etc. Day 3 was hwy 316 & 85.... at 5:30-7:30 pm on a Monday. The instruction by Carlos was excellent and my son said he learned a lot about driving and life from Carlos for which I'm thankful for. We were so pleased with our driving school portion we decided to do our driving road test with 1 ACT as well a year later after accumulating his hours behind the wheel with me by his side. The driving test was handled by a very straightforward and helpful proctor who gave tips and helped put my son at ease before the actual test. We appreciate all that 1 ACT driving schools has done for my son and helping him in his journey to becoming an independent driver and for that I want to say thank you to Ash, the owner and all the instructors and staff. 5 solid stars and two thumbs up!
