I signed up for a risk reduction class in December with the classes beginning on Monday, 1/12/26. I didn't receive the link until Friday 1/9/26 explaining that a workbook was needed (physical or virtual). I requested a physical workbook due to my eyesight and was told to be at the Duluth office to pick it up on Monday by 4:00 (they are not open on weekends) on the day of the class (1/12/26). I left work early and arrived by 4:00 only to find they were closed. I was told the office manager left early and I had to view the workbook electronically. That was just the first red flag. I realized early in the class that the instructor did not seem to like me by his responses to my answers to some of his questions. I was trying to show that I was present and participating, but he was condescending and he belittled/berated me if he disagreed with my responses. By the last day, he questioned in class if the children that I work with even like me (the classes are recorded). This was personally not a positive experience for me. I would not recommend. Finally, the communication appears to be primarily via text messages, and the beginning of the thread seems to be automated (at least over the weekend) since I asked questions that were never answered and the responses were generic. It asked if wanted to participate in another program, but when I asked what it was, I didn't receive an answer. If you text them with issues during the week, an actual person will respond, it just takes a while. read more

My daughter Nicole has special needs. Her dreams has always been to drive a car. I never thought this would ever be a possibility, but I called Act Driving School, spoke to Lauren, and explained our situation. I told Lauren that Nicole is turning 18 and I would love to make her dream of driving a car come true. Lauren set an appointment with Ash on Nicole's birthday. Ash immediately put Nicole at ease. She was very nervous. Ash explained the brakes, accelerator, lights, turn signals, everything. He made Nicole feel like she was receiving a real driving lesson. I figured Ash would take Nicole for a lap or two around a parking lot. Because of the way the vehicle is set up, Ash has Nicole driving all over Dunwoody. Wow! Had I know known I could have checked in here I would have done that. So I had to take a Defensive Driving class due to an accident that I was in. I didn't want to be there that morning but I must say, I'm glad I came. Ash (the instructor) and the receptionist (I think her name was Milly) were very friendly and really made the time as enjoyable as it could be. The class was very casual and QUITE informative. These Defensive Driving courses are normally something that people don't make time to do periodically unless we have to because, well...we all know how to drive and we have other things to do with our day, like work! Ash made the material very easy to grasp and he was very patient and took time out to explain everything thoroughly and even give personal examples to illustrate key points. I learned how to drive in California and I left this class that afternoon learning a few new things about driving in the state of Georgia (such as the law about leaving a lane of space for police and emergency response vehicles assisting others on the roadside). I also was reminded of some rules that we all take for granted like pedestrian safety. And the one that I will be actively paying closer attention to is staying behind the balkline on red. I am currently taking lessons here and paid about $1550 for 30 hours and test, the owner at first Ash was very nice to me and why I felt good about doing the classes here but.. as soon as they got my money everything flipped one day a driver showed up late like 17 mins late when i have to work and 5-10 mins being late is ok but 17mins wasn't anyway they said even tho this happened I had to allow him to eat into my paid hours which I wasn't ok with I got another instructor after that from them Rom is really good and I recommend him he has taught me a lot. But the rest is not good I lost four hours due to having a high fever over thanks giving and advised them of this due to having family over for that week and being sick and afraid of getting my instructor sick anyway Owner told me to do the class or I'd lose my hours and refused to allow me to reschedule them. The other being today lost another 2 hours to make it six and having a medical issue again and having sudden pain had to stop lesson was advised to reschedule called the school and owner refused again even though medical issue unless I paid $65 to reschedule and than tried to charge me $30 just for being sick if you have a medical history of flare ups from surgery or get sick with a fever you will lose that time or you must drive under those conditions since they will refuse to do anything to help Contacted me after leaving a review saying he didn't deserve a bad review and I felt wasn't appropriate and came across as an intimidation to me 2 of the lessons i had missed was due to my instructor not feeling comfortable driving with me while sick and another 3rd was due to driver having car trouble couldn't take the classes if driver wouldn't pick me up but owner refused to acknowledge this even tho i have text messages to prove this. read more

So after looking for a dui risk reduction class all day. I finally found one that worked for me and my schedule. I just completed the class this week 05/19 - 05/21; 20 hr course. Teresa the instructor and Ash the owner were incredibly helpful and made the class as easy as possible. The customer service was superb. The best part...We got longhorns lunch for FREE each day. We highly recommend this school/class! My 17 year old daughter and her friend just finished this four day class over the school break. They both couldn't say enough great things about the content and staff. Interesting, informative, interactive, and fun. They loved their teacher! The majority of the week was spent in the classroom, but they did get to do some road driving and parallel parking, with additional driving hours to be scheduled over the next weeks/ month ( based on the package purchased). The teacher Ash made what is usually a boring experience very interesting and engaging. I found a groupon deal but just mention it to him and he'll give you the discounted rate without having to deal with groupon's occasional weirdness. State Farm is making me broke so when I discovered I had to take Defensive Driving AGAIN because it expires every 3 years I wasn't too happy. This place is located in the small office building behind the Ship and Anchor restaurant and bar. You think you know everything about the road but he gave some good tips on lesser known laws and do's/don't when you get pulled over. THE best defensive driving school I have encountered! The instructor, Ash, is so attentive and sweet. He's well informative about driving and he's interesting. Ash isn't like the normal teachers that make a class boring, he makes it so much fun! He's willing to be flexible with any days available to anyone to accommodate them attending his class (different weekdays or weekends) plus he's understanding. He's funny and very like-able. I got duped by the 5 star reviews on Google. I give this company 1 star for the online convenience of the Defensive driving course and splitting it up into 2 days, and 1 star for the ease of the test. Other than that, I wouldn't give it any more stars. First off, they send you the zoom link at the last minute (like minutes before the class) so you'll be wasting time searching your in box for it. They also send you a contract to sign at the last minute that had some questionable clauses in it. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th the trainer was rude, got off topic, had incorrect info in the slides and he embarrassed people by telling them you can't do this, or you can't do that but mind you, the company doesn't provide you any rules before or after you sign up for the class. You won't know the rules until the trainer embarrasses you in front of everyone on zoom. I wasn't feeling all that well when I logged into the class so I was lying down a bit. The trainer demanded that everyone turn on their cameras and he told me to sit up straight like I was a child. When I mentioned I wasn't feeling well and I wish someone had shared the rules beforehand because I would've rescheduled, he rudely stated that's not his problem and I need to take it up with whomever signed me up. A person was at work taking the course and he rudely told her she can't be at work taking the course and she'd have to retake it when she was going to be home. He didn't want you to even go to the bathroom because he wanted to see you on camera at all times. Someone was driving listening to the course and he complained about that to. Driving while taking the course is not a good idea, and their rules are their rules but how the heck would anyone know what their rules are if they don't provide the rules before the course starts? You only learn about their rules once the trainer makes a point to embarrass you in front of everyone on zoom by calling you out for things he didn't like for you to do. Also the 6th issue was instead of watching videos like you would on the national safety council's course, the trainer played only the sound of videos that weren't hardly audible. They were videos that definitely required a person to look at them because they were acting out specific driving tactics and showing you different road conditions but this man only played the videos' audio. He went all off topic wasting time talking about nonsensical things that had absolutely nothing to do with the course. He was so boring that I had to fight myself from drifting off to sleep. Him admitting several times there was incorrect info in the slides was the kicker for me. I didn't really learn anything and this course was 3x more $$$ than national safety council (or other online courses) and I actually learned a lot from that online course. In the future, I definitely won't do business with Insurance companies that require only state mandated defensive driver courses cuz I won't do this again especially if I don't have to and I can save money and actually learn something from a reputable online course. If you're only looking for an insurance discount and you don't need a state mandated course, and you actually want to learn something for all the time you invest in this, I would not recommend this company. read more

I took a Defensive Driving school here about a week ago. I would highly recommend them. They are state certified, clean facility, nice and relatable instructors, and accommodating. You only get lunch for the DUI classes. They gave me my certificate on spot. This is the only place which offers classes everyday. Also, the instructor (Al Turner) was great! He was so funny and he made the class interesting. If you can, recommend Al Turner as your instructor, he has a Billy De Williams look. read more

I ran into problems on the holiday weekend, and started looking at driving schools. 1st Act's website seemed informative, and I decided on calling their number to get initial advice on how to keep my driving privileges. Ash Hodge answered, listened to my situation, and didn't show signs of judgement. He offered advice on legal representation and gave an overview of their school. Apart from what the other reviews say of the nicer environment (IE comfortable chairs, Longhorn lunches, plenty of snacks), this service also seems to go the extra mile in answering questions. I have heard about other schools and they are just there to deliver you the material and do not go above and beyond to make you more comfortable because they know you have no choice in being there or not. I recently took a defensive driving class through them at their buford hwy location. I had a very pleasant experience and my instructor's name was Ash who was more than willing to help students learn and assist them with their needs. The location is a little confusing but they were planning to get more signs, its right across from firestone inside the Asian plaza. You have to enter the building and take the elevator. I got the certificate the same day and by the next day it was already posted to the dmv website. I would highly recommended this place. read more

Before finding this school I've talked to people with attitudes, that gave me the run around or tried to make me feel less of a person because I've made a mistake.
