As mom and dad always stressed, I always get at least three estimates/bids. The visit and estimates - I contacted all three flooring companies within a two-day period, mid-last-week. All got back within one or two days, but Melvin actually responded and came out same day. All three had good service on the estimate, offering suggestions here and there and so although I gave the edge to Melvin I was waiting on prices. Early the next week I received the three estimates and two were within $200 of each other, the third was $2,200 higher with no difference in materials or anything else on the detailed estimate. All three did a great job of detailing the work to be done and that made it easy to choose... to choose Melvin. The job - Melvin started the work last Friday, with two of his two-man teams working all day. Saturday and Monday one team worked all day. Tuesday and today they finished up. One team includes his brother, Milton, who did some fine craftsmanship work (see pics). Every day, the floor specialists were very special, great attitudes, polite, protected everywhere with plastic, moved my furniture gently, etc. They were perfect, it's not easy to get a skilled craftsman who also cares about the customer and customer service with a great, personable attitude. The job included four rooms and stairs: 1. Replace 26-year old vinyl floor in kitchen with faux-marble luxury vinyl. 2. Refinish oak hardwood in living room, family room, hallway and pine stairs - one coat of stain and two coats of oil-based polyurethane (Melvin explained during the estimate that although oil-based requires drying overnight/longer time, my 72-year-old hardwood floors deserve/need oil-based because water-based in not as gentle on brittle wood). Paint the stair risers white. The results - the clean-up was meticulously done and they refused to accept payment until after I assured them everything was perfect. Best part of it was I could tell they really cared about making me happy. See the pics. The darkish color on the stairs is just a photo/lighting anomaly as is the red color on the floors in the family room. THANK YOU, Melvin, for running such an amazing small flooring business. I will be calling when we get to the bedroom floor refinishing. Thanks to everyone on your teams for a job really well done!

Overall, we are very happy with the quality of the work and the customer service provided by Amir. The carpet and waterproof vinyl installations both went smoothly. The crew worked efficiently and finished the jobs in a couple of days. The hardwood flooring project took a frustrating turn, but Amir ultimately resolved it to our satisfaction. The crew installed the hardwood in summer 2023 and shortly afterwards much of it shrunk and developed creaking. After a lot of back and forth with Amir and the manufacturer, Renaissance replaced the problem areas. My wife and I appreciated Amir's professionalism and integrity. Our townhouse's flooring is now so beautiful thanks to Renaissance!

Everything started out smoothly. Jacob arrived to my house and we discussed the project we wanted…read moredone. Replace laminate flooring with carpet for the majority of our basement. Carpet was supposed to go all the way to the pillar shown in the picture. Jacob explained that due to where the laminate was installed, they were able to get very close to the pillar, roughly 1 inch away. We agreed to this and a quote was received and approved. When the installers arrived, I explained to them everything as I explained to Jacob, including installation up to the pillar. They asked if they were doing the stairs too, and I said no. This should have been the first red flag of miscommunication. When the work was done, I noticed that the carpet did not reach the pillar as we have discussed. It was roughly 2 vinyl planks away (over a foot away!). The installers told them Jacob only told them 17ft installation, not to the pillar. Which was odd, since I specifically told the installers that it should have gone up to the pillar. If there were some confusion, why did they not ask me about it? At this point, it was too late to fix. Jacob arrived and confirmed it as supposed to go the pillar, and further confirmed that it was too late to do anything. By failing to remove all the vinyl planks up towards the pillar, this also caused the end of the carpet to not be able to be tucked under the laminate. Now there is an area of the carpet that sticks out as well, also shown in the picture. Finally, our basement has a step down area. By removing the laminate, it exposed a gap in my baseboard. I would have hoped that the installers would have asked us how to proceed, rather than just ignoring it and proceeding. So now I have more imperfections due to the carpet installation. At the end of the day, the carpet was mostly installed as we requested. Just wished that the communication would have been better. Now I am stuck with imperfections in my basement. The ironic part is, the leftover roll of carpet they provided me would have been enough to cover the area they failed to install.

How do you clean carpets in a new home without providing any ventilation? No open windows, no fans,…read moreno warning to the homeowner that airflow is required? You simply soak the carpets, lock up the place, and leave--knowingly creating the perfect conditions for mold and mildew. It's mind-blowing that any "professional" cleaner would think this is acceptable. On top of that, the customer service was unbelievably lackadaisical. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any real solution, we were told we'd have to pay again and even rent fans from him at a premium--for a problem he created. There was zero care for our home, zero concern for the damage that could occur, and absolutely no pride in the service provided. The entire experience was careless, unprofessional, and exploitative. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself the hassle and just go to Stanley Steamer.

We used his service as he is an Igbo Nigerian and thought that kinship would gain some kind of care toward the job performed. My aunt had previously worked with him and decided to hire him again based on that past experience and connection. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. For a fee of $350 for 4 rooms, not only was the carpet cleaning itself unsatisfactory, but there was also a gross lack of proper water extraction. After the cleaning, the carpets remained overly damp. The technician provided no ventilation assistance (no open windows), no ,carpet fans, and upon job completion offered no advice to my aunt on how to ensure the carpets dried properly. When we reached out to the owner of this business afterward, he made it clear he didn't see it as his responsibility to ensure the carpets were left in a dry or even manageable state. This neglect left us with damp carpets and the risk of mildew issues due to the subsequent smell that we have encountered making the entire experience quite unsatisfactory. Instead of trying to work with me in finding some mutually beneficial outcome, the owner resorted to blaming my aunt for not knowing industry standard information that he was well aware of and the only solution offered by him was to pay for the cleaning service again and rent the carpet fans at a premium because they were needed urgently. In summary, CJ's Carpet Care failed to deliver a complete and professional service. The lack of care in ensuring a fully finished job is a significant concern, and I would caution others to consider this before hiring them.
