I live in Dewey Beach DE during the summer. This review reflects that location.
Response time: He was AT MY DOOR only 2 hours after I called!
Parts Availability: He had the part needed for my 14 year old machine on his truck! Wow!
Integrity: I told him I thought it needed the bearings replaced. That's a large and expensive job. But no, his diagnosis showed him it was just the drainage pump! He could have merely agreed with my diagnosis and embarked on a very expensive repair. but no. He clearly has very high standards.
Review
Although I rarely write reviews, I'm am SO thrilled with the service I received from A-1 Appliance Repair Solutions that I'm truly inspired to do so!
I have had my (beloved) LG Washer/Dryer Combo for 14 years. It has needed parts replaced from time to time, but each time I was successful in replacing the parts myself. Figuring out what needed to be done, learning *how* to do it, and then actually doing it would take me about a week with a lot of time on YouTube--but even then, it was still faster than the 2 weeks I was quoted to get a qualified technician to my house. ;-)
This morning I was in a quandary. The machine showed the error code indicating the drainage path was blocked. Of course, I drained all the water and cleaned out the needle trap. Oddly that didn't clear the error. There was still a drainage problem. At the same time I discovered a tiny ball bearing in the lint from the needle trap. Reading up I was worried that could indicate the bearings needed to be replaced. That would be a repair that would require more physical strength than I could muster. It also said that continuing to run the machine in this state could cause further damage! I knew it was time to call in a professional! Well, in calling around I found out that no one at the beach repairs these machines any more. Yikes! Thankfully, I checked Yelp and decided to call A-1 Appliance Repair Solutions! I called and--guess what!--a HUMAN answered the phone! Turns out it was the OWNER of this local small business! Even more amazing, he was willing to come out that same day--only a couple of hours after I called--VERY responsive (especially for a friday!) It was very clear that he knew what he was doing. I insisted on showing him the tiny ball bearing I had found. He said that it didn't come from my machine. He said the ball bearings in my machine would be a lot larger. I was SO relieved! Then he went to work on diagnosing the true cause of the error code. He knew these fancy combination button presses that let him test all the various systems in the machine very quickly. I asked him about that and found he had previously been an employee at a much larger appliance repair company in the area. He figured out that my machine needed a new drain pump--and he had one in his truck! He installed the new drain pump expertly and then ran a full cycle. We had a lovely chat and eventually the machine played its "happy music" indicating a successful cycle. I could have cheered! This was SUCH a massive improvement on what it would have taken for me to diagnose and repair this (even if there had been no ball bearing mystery!) I was just so thrilled and relieved to have a WORKING washer/dryer once again! The price for his efforts was very reasonable and he quoted it up front. Personally, I'm thrilled to have finally found someone (besides me) to fix my washer/dryer! and it was so wonderfully painless! Also, he is a charming and interesting conversationalist and I gave him big points for waiting until the machine ran a full cycle--with no errors--before he left. Most don't do that.
