This has hands down been the worst sales experience I've ever been apart of. I've worked in customer service for years in retail, appliance, and management and I would never treat a customer the way I've been treated. I baught a refurb washer and dryer 3 weeks ago signed a contract stating I'd not be able to refund my purchase which should have been my first red flag. Paid for delivery and waited for my unit to show up. Delivery went fine except for the delivery team taking an old drain hose I needed for my washer. I knew this was an honest mistake but when I called to get my hose back they said they'd call their manager and then call me back. They never called back... I called multiple times trying to get this hose back and finally resorted to "asking for a manager." To my surprise A1 appliance explained to me that they "don't really have a manager" this was the second red flag. I did get referred to the delivery manager (I guess they have managers now) Alfredo who drove in to the store to confirm that the hose was on the delivery truck. I requested this hose be returned to me since I paid for delivery service but he refused. He said I could "pick it up at the store." I'm expected to drive in using my gas after paying for a delivery service that made a mistake. No one offered to comp my gas or time and so I again requested to speak to a manager. Instead they have Lisa who's not a manager but her role is to "handle complaints" I imagine they get a lot. She never called me back but I did finally track her down after calling and explaining the situation at least 5 times. Meanwhile i set up my refurbished washer only to discover that it doesn't work plus it smells bad but that's besides the point. Lisa was apologetic claiming she would send someone out to drop off the hose which a kind man named Greg did that day. She also connected me to the service department that sent out a technician. She had spotty communication but things appeared to move forward. He worked on the washer machine and told me to reach out if there were any more problems. I tried the washer machine the next day and it still didn't work. I called back in and left a message with Lisa. She again never called me. I called her days later she answered said that they would exchange this unit for something else but they wouldn't do a return for me. I just want to be done at this point so I agree but explain that based on the lack of quality communication, service, and management I didn't want to risk purchasing another used machine from them. She said I could get an unused machine but I'd have to pay more. I asked that after 2 weeks of back and forth and multiple disappointment is there any way they'd be willing to exchange this unit for a new one which based on the "sale" was a $300 difference. The sales department explained the only person who could authorize a discount was Lisa. She said she'd take $50 off the price and I now need to pay $250 more and hope that there aren't any more issues. I know no one really believes "the customer is always right" but at this point you do what you can to make a customer happy even if you loose $250. I don't trust their ability to repair anything or follow through so i feel stuck. I just want the nightmare to be over. Ive been unable to do laundry for 3 weeks playing phone tag spending close to $1000 and the "discount" just isn't worth it. I waited to post this hoping for someone to actually try to make this right but now I need to tell the story. Don't waste your time! If you have a little issue YOU have to fix it. Bought a freezer from them because the pandemic created a backlog of new freezers. I had a bad feeling about buying a used freezer. Sure enough, the freezer died about 10-15 days after the 90 day warranty. They were not helpful in any way. They did ask if I wanted to talk to service. Like I would want to risk having another $1,200 of food go to waste after having them "fix" it. They didn't honor the discount they offer on their website when I purchased the freezer either. read more

I am left with mixed feelings. I found a great fridge at a great price. It had a small ding in it, but I felt it met the standards I was looking for. I purchased it and scheduled delivery for 3 weeks out. It arrived as promised! However, it came with a brand new large dent in the front of it and another smaller ding. The delivery people also ripped the carpet treads on my stairs. A1 would take no responsibility for the new dent at first, although admitted that it was a new dent. They said, "We are a scratch and dent store." Then tried to blame it on the delivery people saying, "We are looking for new delivery people who are licensed. It's not our fault." The offered delivery to me and never mentioned it was outsourced and came with ZERO liability coverage for damage to my home or property. I asked if they could replace the panel they damaged and she said, "No, that is a $350 piece." I'm highly disappointed in her initial response. She finally agreed to refund my delivery fee and took off $100 for a total of $190. This was after a lot of back and forth and her being adamant that they were not responsible for damage they caused to the fridge or my home. They did not send the screws for the door handles initially, but did send someone later in the day to install them. I appreciated this very much. read more

My fiance could build or fix anything. After he died, in 2021, I dreaded bringing my car into a shop or buying any appliance. I called A-1 Appliance in Anoka and spoke with Clinton about my concerns about buying a washer as I have never had to buy one. He helped me to find the right one that would work for me and that would fit into the small closet space in my townhome. He was great about follow-up and making sure the washer was a perfect fit. Without sounding bizarre, I prayed that I would find a washer at the right price and someone to help me find what I needed. Clinton was the answer. I would recommend Clinton and A-1 Appliance for sales and service. I couldn't figure out how to work the machine and A-1 Appliance sent someone out the next day. I found a fridge on craigslist at the A1 Appliance in Anoka. The size was perfect. So I called to make sure it was still available before I set out. I spoke with a young lady And told her I would be heading to A1 from Minneapolis. On the way to Anoka she called and texted me no less than four times to see if I was coming. The texts and calls were slightly inappropriate and definitely annoying since I was driving and I already confirmed I was enroute. It appeared she had to get out of work early for her Friday night fun. I got the fridge and she sold me a matching stove as well. The stove turned out to have missing parts And doesn't work because of that. I called her and texted her a few times Before I got any reply. I find it interesting how she dogged me with calls and texts for the sale But when I needed something Getting a response was like pulling teeth. She finally sent me a short text telling me to call a different number in the business. I have called that number several times and left messages and so far no response. My stove still does not work and I cannot bring myself to contact them anymore. I do not recommend this business. I do not recommend the girl I worked with. She was pushy and Crossed some ethical boundaries. Then she disappeared when I really needed her. She also encouraged me to use her plumber for the hook up. I called him and he was pretty unfriendly, almost annoyed. In the end I did it myself. It was really easy and she had no business pushing her plumber on me for a job that Was perfectly simple. Luckily his attitude turned me off so much I never hired him. I manage several apartment properties and was hoping to find someone I could work with for future purchases. It won't be A1. read more

Most have worked but the one time that I did encounter an issue the service department was very helpful and on top of it right away. We stopped in looking for a refrigerator. The staff was very helpful and we found a nice refrigerator at a great price. The refrigerator was operating in the showroom so we knew everything worked. We did find a seal that was torn, so they replaced that for us prior to delivery. We had the option of taking 10% off or getting free delivery, so we chose the free delivery option. They removed the old refrigerator to the garage and the new refrigerator was put in place. We did have problem with a noise when the refrigerator would start up. We noticed it right away, but then did not hear it again for a month or more. I recorded the sound the next time I heard it and stopped in at the store to let them know about it. One of the maintenance personnel listened to my recording and knew exactly what it was. It was a bad air baffle. They said they would call us when they could come out. Usually the night before it was scheduled. It must have been a slow day, as we got a call in about 30 minutes and they came out and completed the repair in just a few minutes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a major appliance like a refrigerator, washer, dryer, or range. They also take your old appliances if you need that. I dropped off an old refrigerator that was not working and there was no charge. read more

I would highly recommend A-1 Appliance in Anoka for anyone who wants a great price and great service and doesn't need a fancy showroom. I needed an off-white stove without a special-order price tag. Drove 150 miles, bringing an old refrigerator with me for free disposal. It was well worth the trip; service was prompt, friendly and courteous. So many appliances available, either new, deeply discounted because of a scratch or dent, or used, completely refurbished. My stove looks like new, and is working well. I'm very satisfied. read more
