TLDR - fun workouts, great coaching, an unconventional gym that gets you results. I am not your average fitness trainer. I don't like to jog, I'm not out biking every weekend, and apart from the rare visit to a hotel gym on a business trip, I had no regular workout routine. I work at a computer all day and veg out in front of a TV at night (it's amazing they let me stay in Boulder). The unconventional format at 9Round, coupled with fun workouts and supportive staff changed my mind about fitness. What to like about 9Round: - No waiting. this is not your conventional gym. There is no waiting around for someone to get off your favorite Nautilas machine. It's 3 min workouts (rounds) at each station. Once you arrive you can get started. - Variety. While the 9 stations are always the same, each time what you do at each station changes. When I have gone to the gym in the past, I followed the same routine I created for myself. With the 9Round format, you will be coached what to do at each station and provided plenty of variety on a daily basis. - Fast. The workout routine is 30 intense minutes. I have an incredibly busy work schedule and even I can get a 30 min workout in it. - No class schedule. Not only is my work schedule busy, it's also unpredictable. One week is different from the next. The ability to drop in to 9Round at any time, start my 30 min workout, and get out, is a huge plus. You don't even have to wait for the hour or 1/2 hour mark. A new "9 rounds" starts every 3 mins. - The coaching. The staff at the Boulder location (and sometimes Longmont migrants) have been excellent. Even with a full group, they ensure everyone knows what to do at each station - and that's changing every 3 mins! There is always one station where a coach will grab you and work with you directly for the full 3 mins. I've never seen this type of attention at a gym. No matter what station, they will correct your form (still working on that round kick), help make adjustments, and provide plenty of encouragement. They understand not everyone has the same goals (e.g.weight loss, muscle gain, tone,etc) and will suggest adjustments to the workouts aligned to your goals. Location. Centrally located in Boulder. Always available parking. Was easy for me to get there after work and get home right away afterwards. - It works! The bottom line is that none of the other stuff would matter if the workouts didn't work. After only 6 weeks I have reached my target weight, my body is notably more toned, and more importantly I feel great. And I had fun doing it. 9Round has been a mental and physical lifesaver. I was a gym rat for years, working out 5-6 days a week, 2 hours a day and could not imagine my life without being in the gym. Then I started my own company and before long found myself without any time to work out. Mostly because I had an unusual work/life schedule and the class schedules rarely matched up. A friend suggested 9Round and I was hesitant - how could a 30 minute kickboxing class give me what I was looking for? However, this friend was just as dedicated as I had been and insisted this was more legit than I could imagine. 1st workout blew my mind! and continues to impress each day even after 17 months. You will never repeat a work out, there is a personal trainer there to give you one on one training, you can adjust to your needs, and BEST OF ALL, there are NO CLASS TIMES and you are in and out in 30 minutes! I burn an average of 400 calories during each workout and I'm challenged every time. The trainers are energetic and encouraging - really appreciated on those days when I'd really rather be on the couch - and the trainers are steady, not a new one every time you turn around. As good as it gets indeed! I've completed the six week challenge course, and I was able to gain six pounds total with three pounds of the muscle weight. I know it's opposite from what most of the people try to do but it was a big challenge for me. I really enjoyed the experience at 9Round, the staff is very knowledgable and helpful. They are just there for you any time. I am very thankful to all of them. Not only they were instructing the course but also provided valuable recommendations about the diet and supplements I needed. I really liked the variety of the exercises, they were changed daily, it never gets boring there. Additionally, I am thankful for the individual approach to my needs. Unfortunately, I pulled a muscle on week three. However, I was given individual exercises and I was still able to complete my challenge in six weeks. I highly recommend 9Round to everyone who wants to work on their body, either loosing or gaining weight. it' a place where everything is possible. This place kicks a$$! Ahhh, interval training! You'll be done before you know it, and you'll see results before you expect to! Trainers at the Boulder location are wonderful - they try really hard to give everyone individual attention and keep everyone engaged. They'll give you pointers to improve your technique, and are always ready with modifications to step it up/down as needed. FUN FUN FUN! *Regarding the previous review*: Interval training is HARD. You don't have to be in top shape by any means, but you have to be willing to sweat buckets and pant like a dog, and you might feel like you're dying. It does get easier, but only if you're willing to stick with it. If you're struggling, the trainers here - in my experience - will tell you to slow down, drink water, work on your form, and breathe. I just finished up six weeks training at nine rounds in Boulder and I have to say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a gym. I love the set up, I love the training and I love the staff there. The staff was especially helpful in learning new techniques and bettering my form. They are respectful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. With their help I was able to lose over 6% body fat in just six weeks. You have to try their six week challenge if it's still available! This is by far the best express workout I've ever done! 9Round Boulder is an effective, inclusive, all level, full body workout, that is really fun!!! The combination of cardio workout and high intensity kickboxing interval training gives everyone a chance to work on thier weaknesses and take thier strengths to a new level. It gave me the most motivation to lose weight and burn fat that I have ever experienced! For the past couple of years I've been weaker and heavier than any other point in my life. I LOVE 9Round!! This is the best thing I've done for myself in such a long time! This workout kicks my butt every time, and I'm gaining so much strength and fitness. This place is amazing. So is Christian, the manager. Every work out is so fun with him, he makes you feel like you're doing a great job and pushes you to do your best. He is always upbeat and has a great attitude. No class time just makes sense, you're wasting your time with regular gyms, people! I have just completed my six week weight loss challenge at 9rounds, AND LOST 27LBS!! I have been a memeber at 9rounds for several years, i love the workouts; they always change but keep their intensity. Prior to the challenge i was only maintaining my weight and not loosing much. 9Round makes working out fun! You can come in at any time because there's no set workout times and every day there are new exercises and different challenges of the week or month. The trainers are very attentive and can alternate the exercises based on your needs and/or injuries. Jack is my favorite trainer ever, he's so friendly and always motivates me. This kickboxing gym is AH-MAZING. The staffs are super-duper friendly and accommodating to all! The workout is actually fun! You do 9 different work outs, 3 mins each, which makes the tempo quick and each round easy to endure through. There is no class time! So whenever you're ready, you just go in and begin! I love 9Round! It is only 30 minutes long and changes everyday which I like because I am someone who gets easily bored while exercising. It is very affordable compared to other specialty gyms and as a college student that is much appreciated. The instructors are fun, helpful and kind. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Love me some 9Round! I've been coming since last May, and absolutely love it. The trainers are great. A new workout every day keeps things fresh. For a 30 minute workout, it really kicks your butt. I've done some at home DVD workouts, that are similar, but having actual bags to hit, makes a huge difference. read more
