day 25 of my american life i just got done training 3 days at easton brazilian jiu jitsu. it was amazing. the weather was so cold i didn't end up doing much else but training 2 times a day, about 4 hour or more hours a day. i would go there at noon. eat, hit the sauna, eat, sleep, go there again, and eat and sleep haha. in high school they called it two a days. did it in wrestling and football. felt great to just live that jock life again. i feel great in some ways, like i got cardio for days cuz of the high altitude training here but my body is banged up from traveling all over the country and training. every place i go to, when they hear what i am doing, they all say, man i want to do that or i wish i could do that. so when people ask me why i am doing this, more important is the question, why aren't you? this placed proved a theory i had. people in the suburbs or small towns are much much tougher than people in the city. people in the city are lazy yet think they are tough. all the sports stars, football wrestling, even fighters like boxers and ultimate fighters came from towns like these. very few come from the city. in the city its more posturing. every had a farm kid grab you? he has iron grip from working all his life. he would punch a hole through your head. amal's guys have great wind from training their and he really pushes your endurance with the warm ups and drills. the instruction is super detailed as well. hes a perfectionist in proper technique and you have to be when you are fighting, a slight error can cost you everything. the school is very large and they also have a denver affiliate. lots of browns, purples, and black belts. currently tyrone glover is also training there. they offer muay thai as well as conditioning classes. boulder is a hot bed for sports. i don't know how many sports specific gyms i saw from cross fit, to specialty gyms that get athletes ready for any sport. it must be the air, but they breed champions here. i loved the chance i got to train. everyone was nice and friendly and i didn't run into any spaz's training to tear my head off, well never say never cuz only a sith speaks in absolutes.

Always a great time training at ETC Boulder. Coach Patricio and Professor Combs are always helping me out with the fine details of various moves. The sparring is top notch! If you live in Boulder, this is THE Jiu Jitsu school to attend!

Just wondering how much the month memberships are and is there a gym as well to work out and lift when not taking a class?

Hey Nick! We have a bunch of different options for membership, depending on which program(s) you're interested in, and what level you're at within those programs. Probably… Read more

Honestly, we'd go every day if we could. They both have a very positive influence in my son's life. Real life practical lessons, patience, and self discipline are a few of the main reasons we're so happy with trans boulder. Thanks for everything, you two!

I have been part of Tran's martial arts for over five years (with two longer breaks when I had my…read morechildren) and it has literally transformed my life. Not only am I more fit now at age 40 then I was at age 30. It is fun, it is challenging and rewarding mentally, emotionally and physically. I started when I was in a pretty bad physical condition and with the support to Master Tran, his crew and all the other members I have become fit. For the first time in my life did I find a regular work out that keeps my attention and that is FUN! Time flies by. The constant encouragement during class from instructors and persons I team up with makes me feel great. I get a super work out, and I leave feeling less stressed and calm. I'm clearly a better mom and wife after I work out at Trans. I am the type who loves skiing, tennis and other similar activities that keeps my mind engaged - the Muay Thai kickboxing is wonderful. It's almost meditative. I first started when I was studying for the bar exam, and this was the only time during the week that my mind was not stressing or thinking about legal problems. I often get bored going to regular gyms, or feel frustrated because I can't do certain work out or dance moves. This is the first time in many many years that I found a sport so fun, engaging, supportive and challenging that I kept to a schedule of working out 2-3 times a week! And I always felt respected for whatever level I'm at. People who are super fit as well as people who haven't worked out in years are equally welcomed. I'm from Sweden and we always go by first name, so in the beginning it was a bit unusual for me to get used to the "mam" or "sir" or to bow. But I got used to it quickly and it's really a matter of showing respect. There isn't a lot of formalities otherwise. It's a wonderful fitness and martial arts studio. Come and try it!
