This store has the best birthday balloons in the neighborhood. As a kid and even today I buy my balloons from here.

This store is organized and big! Not as much variety as other "99" cents stores though.

It's not the most organized place on Earth but they do have dressing rooms and had a present attendant to assist you in getting one. I found a cute sweater that when I tried it on, felt like was made for me so I opted to get it. Little did I know that meant joining and endless line that swerved into narrow rows that if you suddenly changed your mind, you'd be trapped in. Also, I hope you don't object to children and families because I definitely saw quite a few of them here though none bothered me and I actually felt reassured that home training and good family values still happen since the family in front of me behaved respectfully, the parents were attentive and they seemed like a functional family that cared about one another. Those rows are far from boring since you'll see all kinds of items there. I opted to include a hairbrush since I needed one and you probably can't have too many of them. The line did move, I got my items checked out and ended up on my way. I haven't usually found things here but if you have time and want something badly enough to brave the long line, you might just find something that fits the bill.

I found their muffins, scones and bakery items to be much fresher. Expiration date a little longer than the one in Queens Blvd. I came here to get eggs. There was only three cartons left. Always check your eggs before running off to the check out counter. There were at least 1-2 cracked eggs in all three cartons. Asked staff if there were more eggs available and informed him the three cartons should be taken out of the shelves. Staff went back and came back with three cartons of eggs. I took 2. Don't forget to check Target weekly circular for sales and bargains. Tried to shop for clothes and shoes, but there were not much of a selection in the clothing section which was limited and small. For these items I go to the Target at Queens Place. Basically shop for essentials and grocery items here.

TJ Maxx - Unique Finds!!

Popped into this TJ Maxx while I was in the area, mostly because I had nothing better to do…read more Walking into the store, it was clear this place had its priorities: quantity over tidiness. Clothes were falling off hangers like leaves in autumn, and you could usually spot one or two items on the floor in any direction. It's a typical TJ Maxx scene but a bit messier. This store boasts two floors: the first floor is a treasure trove of women's selections, while the second floor is dedicated to men's selections and household goods. You could say it's a bifurcated wonderland of bargains and chaos. I checked out their bag selection but wasn't too impressed. Marshalls still holds the crown for that in my book. After a good 10 minutes of browsing and not finding anything I needed, I decided it was time to make my exit.

This was my first--and sadly, likely my last--visit to this TJ Maxx location…read more While the store is bigger than the one in Rego Park, it's extremely disorganized. Clothing racks are a mess, with sizes all mixed up, making it frustrating to shop. To make matters worse, the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. I don't understand why there's a code on the door when the restroom isn't maintained at all. There was no hand soap, no paper towels or tissues, no working hand dryer, and the smell was awful. It clearly hasn't been cleaned in a while. One employee, a middle age Asian male staff member sorting packages in the middle of a busy aisle, was also very unprofessional. I mistakenly took his cart and was yelled at loudly in front of other customers, even after I apologized. I saw him later yelling at another woman for the same thing. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. They seem to get good business, but the store seriously needs work--especially in organization, cleanliness, and staff professionalism. I recommend shopping at the Rego Park location instead, where customers are treated with basic respect.

While he did that, I ran another errand. When I came back, he'd only made copies of two keys. I handed him the originals back, with the third key in my fingers, for him to make two copies of that one as well. I paid for my merchandise, got home, tried to use my new keys in the door...he'd made another pair of one of the other keys. So I go back to get the correct key made. "You made a mistake and copied the wrong key." He tells me "I can't work with you. Go somewhere else." "It was your mistake," I said, keeping myself calm though I was outraged. "If you're unhinged, I can't work with you." He actually said that to me. So he's lost a loyal customer. I will gladly go a block farther to the store on 23rd Avenue when I need something. This kind of thing is also why I buy from big box stores. They have standards for customer service and disciplinary measures when those standards are not met.

The fact that its steps from the Broadway N/W station is a huge plus. I tend to come here when there's something out of stock at the steinway location. Their order and pickup runs very smoothly. I'm really impressed with their location. They lose a star because some aisles are too small for someone who is handicapped using a wheel chair. It's hard to go down one aisle with someone in general. At times, I felt like I couldn't be in the aisle alone. In this particular location the older people tend to think anyone who is young works there. It's pretty funny, and I play along like I do and help them. So if you're coming here, expect to have some small talk with the older generation.

Who knows. The line to check out too me around 15 minutes or so this day, but I was happy to see that at least their candy section was well stocked. This is one of the only true dollar stores left in the area, so I guess beggars can't be choosers. I still prefer the one on Northern Blvd to this one.
