I discovered this message when I called to have the plumber's work evaluated due to possible issues I was having regarding his work. The Office Manager stated although she and the others in the office did not work for Trudell when this occurred, I would have to discuss this further with the owners since they already had a conversation with me and made the determination not to do business with me. I responded that I had not talked with the owners and that the phone number she stated was in error. It became apparent the plumber had misrepresented me to the owners, and the owners did not care to investigate what had occurred. I waited a few days to see if the owners would contact me, but since they did not, I decided to review this company with a red flag warning with a comment "Very Poor Customer Service."

At the urging of our well expert, we started watching for leaks and drips that might be adversely affecting our well's supply. Sure enough, the ancient front spigot was losing a fair bit of water daily (in the dry conditions, it was hard to notice until we got a pail under the spigot). One call is all that it took for Dan to make his way over to look into the problem. I had hoped it was just a matter of a gasket, but the age of the spigot put the easy fix out of reach. Dan assessed all of the spigots and recommended shut-off vales for all of them, which brought me great relief. Now we are in control of the water situation and will (hopefully!) eliminate future surprises. Based on our discussion, I felt very well-informed to make the decision and I'm super pleased with his work. While he was in the basement with us, he mentioned the fact that we're still using fuel oil. While not ideal, we simply hadn't started moving that project ahead. Yet. Insert Dan, who talked to Andy, and just two days later Andy was here to similarly educate us on a propane conversion. Talk about full service! Just one phone call and I'm crossing things off my list of house projects; badda-bing! I wanted to go with a smaller local company but called Swick to get a comparison bid. Both sales guys were knowledgeable and extremely nice and sent me bids in a timely manner. Both systems were expensive, more than I wanted to pay since I had a newer furnace, it just wasn't big enough. I called the smaller company to come back out to give me more ideas and a general idea of pricing on them which they did. I finally decided what direction I wanted to go so e-mailed and left a vm for the smaller company of what I was thinking and I would like new bids. No response. Did it again, no response. While waiting, Swick called to see if I needed anything more from them. I told them what I was thinking and Norm came back out and several days later sent me bids. The bids were right in the ballpark of what the other company had mentioned so I reluctantly hired Swick. The process of having my room heater installed upstairs and gas fireplace insert in the family room could not have gone smoother. I have only good things to say about Swick. The room heater had not arrived by the appt date so my work was done in 2 appts vs one which was fine with me. I wanted the gas fireplace asap so I could use it. The installers were very friendly, professional and yet a sense of humor. When done they cleaned everything up completely and gave me a tutorial. The room heater was the same experience. Different installers but once again extremely nice, professional AND they put up with 2 dogs in their way as they worked without looking at all irritated. Attention to all of my friends:…read more Beware of Dupras and Sons Inc. Recently we had a new furnace installed. They quoted $3500 which included labor, materials, and furnace. Let me just say this should be criminal. Searching HVACDirect.com, we found the furnace for $1345. This is a retail price which we all know Dupras and Sons Inc doesn't pay retail prices. There quote included 8 hours for 2 guys for $1400. Normal rates for 2 installers should have been $1200 for 8 hours. The technicians were at our house for 5.5 hours. Add 1 hour for travel to and from our house for a grand total of 6.5 hours. Dupras and Son Inc, overcharged us for labor. They charged almost a 50 percent mark up on the furnace. We paid $3100. Sent them a letter asking for an itemized bill and they threatened me they would send me to collections if I didn't pay the remaining balance. I am telling you, these types businesses are operating under some shady practices. How in the hell does a vague estimate without true costs become good business practices. In speaking to others, this is pretty common. I for one am not taking this lying down. I am not going to pay a business that takes advantage of a consumer without heat and asking them to pay an unreasonable amount for a product and labor that does not add up. It is extortion!!!
