Perhaps someone is remembering someone...

How do you remember hate? Or the loved ones lost due to hate? To me, the 911 Memorial attempts to do some of that.... It is a beautiful space - simple, solemn, and respectful. Nothing dramatic yet the sorrows are there - you can feel it as you walk by the many names, so many! The water in the center (see photo) flows quietly and the surrounding is peaceful, with the new 1 World Trade Center towering over it. It's free and easily accessible by city buses. We didn't go into the museum - the park itself is enough for us. Definitely a must-see when in NYC. The Oculus near by offers shopping and eating, as well as subway stations. Very convenient.

I was honored to pay my respects. I hadn't been here since 9/2001. I remember the smell of smoke and this site was smoldering iron. I lost contact with friends, colleagues that fateful day. All I could do was pray, keep busy until communication was restored and all were accounted for. So many weren't that lucky. That month I was on Long Island when the plane went down in Rockaway. As a nation we were all still walking on ice. My husband, just freaking out & so insecure, called my company and calls were patched through until he located me via cell. Let us never forget. This is a beautiful memorial.

Beautiful. The names are all inscribed around it, brought a tear to me eye. So many lives lost and impacted on that fateful day.

I highly recommend going here if you're in the area. They did an incredible job on this museum. Places for family of the tragedy to go. Well thought out. Security is extremely high. Metal detectors to pass. Be ready to remove everything in pockets, jackets, hats, and belts. You feel really safe here.

Wow.....absolutely breathtaking and moving experience. I decided to stop here after work to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11. I was expecting it to be a very somber experience but man, did my emotions get to me. Seeing all the names of those who died on that fateful day was gut wrenching. Anyone in NYC should make it to this memorial, extremely powerful and humbling.

This was amazing to visit. Gets you in the feels real quick. Mask wearing enforced, sanitizer provided.

We had been in the middle of the noise and bustle of Manhattan all day. However, when we arrived at the Ground Zero Memorial, you could feel the atmosphere change. The entire area was much more quiet and somber and you could feel the weight of what happened here on 9/11/01. The designers did an incredible job of memorializing those lost in the attack. It was a very moving experience.

This is the best place to honor all of the people who died on 9/11. Very beautiful scenery and peacefulness.

Really friendly staff gave the kids a scavenger hunt page that turned our visit into part garden tour, part treasure hunt. Between the terraces, tile work, grottoes, and gardens, the whole place blends European formality with a whimsical, art nouveau vibe. Plenty of benches invite you to sit and talk, while fenced-in chickens, geese, and beehives bring the grounds to life. The gardens feel peaceful, playful, and magical all at once. The beauty here is truly un-beleaf-able! NOTES/TIPS: **Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors/students, and $5 for kids, with free parking close by. **Very limited wheelchair-accessibility: okay for the Main Terrace and some flat areas, but most paths are sloped or uneven, so access is limited. **Restrooms near the entrance.

It is definitely somewhere to go for a romantic date . The only issue I found with the place is that we couldn't find the gift shop or the little concession stand - coffee and snack . That was disappointing. Also staff is friendly but doesn't seem to be very good at giving directions . Aside from that it is such a beautiful place to visit

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.
