This review is for Instructor Chris Lin. As an adult Piano student in my fourth year of experience, I've had two previous piano teachers who taught privately. My first teacher holds a Master's Degree in Music, and my second teacher has a PhD and is a Professor, both with over 10 years of experience. However, due to schedule conflicts, I had to find a new teacher. Being particular about my choice, I requested a Piano instructor who is knowledgeable in jazz and not overly strict in teaching style, as I tend to get nervous playing in front of teachers. The administration suggested Instructor Chris Lin. Although Instructor Chris's bio indicated that he doesn't have as much teaching experience as my previous instructors, his background in jazz and music composition intrigued me. So, I decided to have a trial lesson with him. Upon sharing my music goals, he confidently assured me he could help me achieve them. Four months later, I've learned so much from Chris! He meticulously improved my piano playing dynamics and taught me intermediate to advanced music theory to prepare me for improvisation. His systematic approach to explaining complex music theory and logical teaching methods have been instrumental in my learning journey. Chris is an intuitive instructor who dramatically advances his students in a short time. His passion for music and teaching shines through, and I highly recommend him to anyone seeking to improve their piano skills. Also, Thanks to Annie for hiring excellent Piano instructors! Very happy with my experience here! Thanks to Melinda for helping me set up the initial lesson! read more

I started voice lessons with Devon over a month ago, and I can't describe how much she's helped my voice and musicality grow over just the past few weeks! Her unique breath and pitch exercises have been helpful in improving my tone and control over my voice. She's also helped me add a new element of emotion and depth to my singing. The process of signing up for lessons was also so easy and I'm very thankful to the staff at 88Keys for being so helpful and organized along the way. I was at first worried that the teacher and I wouldn't mesh, but the office staff assured me I'd love her and offered me a free trial lesson. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the lessons I've taken at 88Keys Music Academy and am so excited to grow and develop my voice! read more

Glad to have piano teacher Annie in Key88 music academy for my kid. She is so patient and super knowledgeable. You can see her passion in piano and the way she teaches. We have been taking lessons with her for 2 years. She always said, we are human, not robots. Every song, we need to add our feelings to make it different. That's true. After her teaching, you can see how your kid has improved in the details and skills. Once your kid is ready, she would recommend some competition to gain more confidence and experience. Another thing is Annie would like to take notes in the class which helps kids a lot after class. We check the notebook before practice and pay attention to the line we got wrong before or need to improve. read more

88 Keys and especially Jose Garcia (drums) are amazing! My son has been taking drum lessons for over a year now and loves it! Jose gives him freedom to choose songs he wants to learn and if he can't think of anything Jose will suggest popular songs with new techniques for him to learn. He makes it fun yet still teaches. I, myself, have experience playing in a band and even I have learned a great deal from Jose while sitting in on classes. 88 Keys is well worth the cost for weekly lessons. They offer many different options of instruments to learn. They are flexible if you can not make a lesson to schedule for an alternative day or time. Everyone is friendly and professional. Every child I have seen there has always seemed very happy to be there, and mine is no exception. Whether your child wants to rock and roll or play the classics, 88 Keys is the place to learn it. read more

My daughter has been going to 88 Keys for 3 years since she was 4 years old. My daughter was transferred from another piano teacher and I can see that there was a huge improvement on her technique. . Ms. Annie is the best piano teacher ever! She is very patience with my daughter all the time! Ever year, my daughter takes the piano exam and she has been receiving very good result! In the beginning, I thought that it was too hard for a age 5 kid to study the theory, however, Ms. Annie made it very easy for my daughter to understand and she almost got perfect score on her Theory too. Highly recommend 88 keys to everyone who is looking for good music teacher. read more

7 year old son has been taking drum lessons with José for about 5 weeks. Jose is great with my son, and he seems to be progressing very well. A small but very good music school. I've heard other children of various ages learning piano or violin, and the kids sound great. So far, I am extremely happy to have found this place. They have parking in back, though parking out front is never a problem. The only thing I wish is they took credit cards. I have to pay by check or cash every month. read more

I've been taking vocal lessons here for a couple of months and I must say I'm very happy with the results! I'm an adult with no prior experience singing, except for car karaoke! Stephen is an excellent teacher. He keeps me at a pace that is challenging, just outside my comfort zone and I have seen incredible results because of it! I've also worked with Rana who is so motivating every lesson. She helps me give my best every lesson. 88 Keys Music Academy accommodated us during the coronavirus pandemic. Here's my kiddo, setup for her remote piano lesson with her favorite instructor. The remote lesson was seamless. We're now on our 4th lesson and anticipate having many more remote lessons until we are allowed to leave our homes once again. I love this music school. My daughter was matched with Ms Clarissa Shan 16 months ago. They hit it off from the beginning. 88 Keys Music Academy has very talented and professional staff. Even the admin staff is very helpful and responsive. I can't wait for my other 2 kids to reach the age to learn piano too at 88 Keys Music Academy. I definitely recommend this school. read more

Not going to lie, i was a bit hesitant to bring my sons here because of some of the negative reviews which all pretty much involves scheduling and or payments, something I dont usually have a problem with so I decided to give them a try anyways AND WHEWWW AM I GLAD I DID! I took my 2 boys, ages 3 and 6 to sign up for private piano classes and was pleasantly greeted by the front desk. The whole trial set up process went very smoothly and they even informed me that my 3 year old might be too young for private lessons but offered me their YOUNG MUSCIANS program for younger kids! Currently been with 88 keys for about 2 months and we love our piano teacher and my 3 year old son raves bout his young musicians teacher all the time. We love you 88 keys! Thanks for keeping my boys active and looking forward to class each week :) read more

Annie was very pleasant on the phone and in our meeting. She assured that there would be consistency with the teacher that would be paired with our daughter. In the beginning it was great, we had the scheduled we wanted for her violin lessons, but sadly it only lasted about 2 weeks. After the first two weeks the teacher that was paired with my daughter was not going to be able to teach her anymore. We had the option of constantly changing days, or getting a new teacher all together. This was not what were told when we signed her up. We came to 88 Keys with the impression that there would be consistency and good structure for our daughter. I am sad to say that we did not continue on here, and that if you are looking for a great music school, with consistency for your child, this is not the place to go. Find another music school for your child. read more

Highly highly recommend 88 Keys Music Academy to anyone looking for music lessons! I had a really great experience here at 88 Keys. The management is helpful and communicative. I've never had problems getting a hold of Annie or any other management staff when I had questions or needed to rearrange/reschedule a lesson. Annie sets her expectations clearly in the music studio's policies. I think as long as you READ the policy then there should be no problems regarding rescheduling/makeup lessons etc. I've been to other music schools and the policy here is fairly standard. The staff and faculty are friendly and personable. The teachers here go above and beyond to create a positive learning experience for their students. I remember one teacher spent EXTRA TIME outside of the lesson to help a student who was having trouble with the piano pedals. The teachers at 88 Keys try to be as accommodating as possible to each individual students' needs and schedules. There's a wide diversity of students from young children just starting out or adults picking up a new hobby. Majority of the teachers there are graduate students or alums of USC Thornton School of Music (one of the most prestigious music schools on the West Coast). Another plus is that some of the teachers are bilingual (English/Chinese), so if you're looking for music lessons in Chinese that's an option as well. read more

88 Keys Music Academy is no doubt one of the best studios. Not only that billing and scheduling are very well organized, but all the staff and instructors are also helpful and friendly. They are very accomodating to the students' needs. Instructors would also tailor-made lesson material to fit the student's learning style, pace, and interests. I highly recommend this music school for people of all ages with different musical backgrounds! read more

My little girl (5 years old) started group lessons here about half a year ago and then started private lessons with Miss Kaiyun. She loves her piano class and she's shown great improvement. Miss Kaiyun is very patient with her and makes class fun for her. This academy is very professional and it's always packed here with students getting ready for lessons. I recommend private lessons vs. group lessons, in group lessons the students have to be at the same level and learning speed to work. Individual lessons seem to work better since there's no waiting time between all the students in the class. I HIGHLY recommend this school. read more

I started playing guitar as an adult several years ago. I've taken lessons from several different academies or conservatories through the years but my guitar teacher at 88 Keys, Saro, has been the best by far. He has a very smooth and patient manner while being exact in his instructions. He introduced some very challenging pieces in our lessons, pieces I was convinced I would never be able to play. But with time and a very methodical instruction, going measure by measure, I was able learn the pieces. It was an incredible feeling. Thank you Saro! read more

Carrie is an amazing piano teacher and mentor for anyone seeking greater achievement and enjoyment in piano studies. She is highly experienced and very professional which you can see in her lessons and in the results she has created in Alexa. Waste of time. Terrible communication and scheduling. Scheduled a trial and missed it because I got no follow up call to confirm. Tried again, scheduled with the teacher and someone calls a few days later to cancel the class. I was out of town and still had the scheduled class in my calendar. Instead of following up to see when we could come in she cancels my class and I'm left waiting in the waiting room . Sad my son was really looking forward to it. read more

I have been studying with Conrad for 2 month now. Conrad is the cello teacher at 88 Keys. Conrad is very enthusiastic and positive. I am a beginner Cellist and Conrad is very patient and encouraging. He has taught me how to read music and some music theory. We focused on finger positions for a month, my left hand got much stronger now. I start working with my right hand (how to hold the bow)Beyond the basics, I'm also learning pieces to play from the Suzuki book. I really enjoy and look forward to my lessons with Conrad each week. This is a nice hole in the wall place. Easy to miss. It's next to the AMF bowling alley. Good parking in the back lot, or if you need to make a quick drop you can use Baldwin Ave. I wanted to talk about the teacher Vivian Lee. She's a great teacher and tries really hard to accommodate schedules. She's also very talented in the violin, but more importantly teaches well. She works hard with kids, understanding their needs and helping their blind spots. She cares about them learning but is gentle as well, like giving kids stickers when they accomplish something. Encouraging and praise goes a long way for kids, and she does that often. Being a teacher is not an easy task. It's not just about sight reading, practicing scales and learning music theory, but also being able to communicate well with kids, having them feel safe and comfortable and caring for them. She does a great job at both, being skilled at music but also being personal, friendly and desiring kids to succeed in a manner that puts the kids wellbeing foremost before hers. She's a great teacher! read more

We enrolled our kids in 88 Keys Music Academy. One child had piano lessons with Ms. Meleeah. She did a great job with him. He learned a good amount and she helped motivate him by selecting songs that he enjoyed playing. He made good progress and participated in a recital. Another child had Matt Baker who gave him guitar lessons. Matt was very patient with our child and provided good guidance and feedback. Matt was great with coordinating schedules and choosing a pace that engaged our child. We would strongly recommend the teachers at 88 Keys Music Academy. read more

This review is for the vocal teacher Diana. In a short seven-month period, she defined and refined my vocal technique which in turn hugely bolstered my confidence. As a result of her lessons, I've gained a ton of vocal stamina, refined my chest voice, and realized a head voice which I didn't have access to before. I will start lessons again once work dies down. The 88 Keys organization has also been very accommodating to my request to temporarily end lessons. I received my pro-rated refund within a few days of my short-notice cancellation. Annie was very transparent and accommodating throughout the whole process. Both the teachers and administrators are top-notch and will do everything they can to help you reach your musical goals. read more

My son, coming from a classical piano background, has been taking jazz piano lessons from Ark Sano for almost 3 yrs here. My son has learned a tremendous amount of jazz technique and theory within that time period. Ark has taught not only the jazz standards, but also the modern music my son enjoys. Ark truly just loves what he does and always has creative ideas for the arrangements. A true professional and musical talent. He is like a mentor to my son, and at the end of the year gives us a CD of all the songs my son has learned/recorded that year. My younger son, also from a classical piano background, has been taking drum lessons for almost 2 years from Jose Garcia and Andy Robbins. They both provide execellent instruction and drum techniques. They are both professionals, and as such are very knowledgable about song structure, and have many creative ideas for drum patterns, fills, etc that they have taught my son. My son has learned a tremendous amount of drum technique and theory from them and is able to apply that to his own arrangements. The owner Annie runs an excellent organization, and is very accomodating to the students needs. She puts on the best school recitals I have seen. She is also very knowledgable about music, so that helps in running the school. My boys have learned a lot from music and 88 Keys is a big part of that. I highly recommend this music school for kids, teens, adults; any musical instrument and genre. read more

We wanted to introduce my daughter to music and we were so happy to have found 88 Keys. She was able to try piano and violin and had incredible instructors in Evie and Emily respectively. The instructors are very popular and sometimes it was difficult to arrange for lessons and makeups, but Emily was always able to accommodate us.
