This gun safety training ran by David Wasson is outstanding. We took the beginner course. Yes, there is 4 hours of obligatory class time. But the 2-3 hours of shooting range time is a difference maker. I enrolled both my wife and I in the course. Both of us have limited experience handling/shooting firearms. After taking David's beginner course, both of us fully understand the safety aspects of handling firearms. The 2-3 hours of range time developed our confidence with handling and firing 20 different guns including revolvers and semiautomatic handguns, rifles, and shotguns. I took the state mandated firearms safety test the next week and passed. We plan to go gun shopping next week to acquire our first handgun. I would give more stars, if I could... I recently had the pleasure of taking 2 classes from David. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. Taking a gun class can be a bit intimidating- especially for a female. I contacted David about his class and he answered a lot of my questions and every step of the way, he provided encouragement. The coursework is well-structured. The information is relevant. The instruction is delivered in a safe and coherent way. David is an excellent communicator and encourages participants to be aware, prepared and most of all- be safe. One of the special attributes David has is that you can feel his passion for this art. You can sense that he truly cares about his students. He is quick to respond to questions and he goes over and above to make sure you have what you need for an optimal experience. I can honestly say that I had a wonderful time. I am encouraged to learn more and expand my skills and experience. I feel lucky to have found David. I am more secure in handling my guns and I have a greater sense of confidence. I will take more courses from him and I would encourage anyone out there reading this to try his classes for yourself and encourage your wives and girlfriends to do the same. The 831shooters training experience, training cadre and quality of subject matter taught through David Wasson's classes were relevant to today's political climate and a professional success. I have been taught by; the F.B.I.' s SWAT "counter-sniper" school, , the California Peace Officer's Standards and Training "Officer Survival Schools," P.O.S.T. facilities throughout the State, the U.S. Military, and private facilities including Heckler and Koch Pistol course, the Steyer SSG Counter Sniper Weapon's Course, among other specialized "breacher" and "assault courses." I have hands on experience as a member of the regional Specialized Hostage Rescue Team, served high risk search warrants and instructed police academy recruits on how to bring investigations to successful conclusions. Despite being in many life and death situations that continue to this day, I've thankfully only discharged my service sidearm once in my lifetime. I've been shot at three times and not once, thankfully, had to return fire due to the excellent training experiences I've received from top of the line instructors. David Wasson continues this fine level of tradition with an excellent training experience and personalized instruction I have received, throughout my lifetime. On the job injuries have hampered my physical abilities. Mr. Wasson took this into account and adjusted his training to fit my needs. Took my first gun safety class on shotguns. The class was well organized and everyone had the opportunity to shoot a few different kinds of shotguns and learn how to handle them safely. As someone who has never shot a gun before, I was very nervous, but I felt like I was in good hands under David's instruction. I would highly recommend the beginner classes for anyone who is new to guns and wants to learn how to be safe and responsible when handling a gun. This store has all the tactical equipment you need, emergency gear, and AR parts to suit your needs. I give it a 4.99 stars out of 5 because I don't give out 5 stars. With a busy schedule and time constraint, I'm so satisfied that my kids are able to take a basic pistol class with David. I also signed up for the CCW class and can't wait. David has been professional and very helpful, just all around good customer service. My kids took the basic pistol class with David and they did pretty good I must say. In the morning, the class starts in a classroom at the gun shop and it's pretty spacious. After that, headed out to the range and the class includes ammo and if you don't have your own eye and ear protection, it would be provided. I say you should have your own eye and ear protection, why not? It can be purchase at the fun shop. So it really depends on the interest of the kids and the maturity level. As a proud American, I am pro second amendment, the right to keep and bear arms and I am a responsible and legal gun owner. I wanted my kids to know the basics of a pistol and to be able to use it safely and responsibility and how dangerous it can be if not using it properly. I rather them learn it from an experienced certified instructor than learn it some other ways by something or someone I wouldn't want them to learn from. With CA laws seem to be stricter than the states I've been on guns and hearing from so many people on how hard it is to attain a CCW permit, I didn't think I can get a CCW permit until David gave me all the correct and useful information on how to apply for a permit. Yes, it is a process but if you really want something, it's worth the wait. This is the closest and best place I found and went with and I'm glad I chose it. read more

David did a great job of pacing the class for our group. We had people who had never fired a gun up to military contractors. The room got a bit stuffy but there was an AC we could have turned on. The class I took was the NRA basic pistol course with the CCW coursework included. Lots of great information and knowledgeable range coaching and qualification training. Great experience all around and David has made sure we all know he is available for advice and future training at any time. I took David's Basic Gun Skills class on 2/25/18. I cannot say enough great things about David and the class. He is extremely knowledgable and a great instructor. It is clear that he loves shooting and is passionate about responsible gun ownership and skills. The first 4 hours is classroom information utilizing an NRA outline of basic gun skills which David enhances with his excellent presentation skills and his enthusiasm for the subject. The afternoon session is at an indoor range in Watsonville where each student receives about 30+ minutes of one on one instruction loading and firing seven different guns. I received great assistance from Heidi, another instructor, who showed me the ropes. Side tip: Many of the women in the class of 11 bought a purse sized stun gun ($40) which David demonstrated. This is a great tool for personal safety if gun ownership is not for you! read more

The attention to detail as well as his willingness to make sure no one is left behind is refreshing.
