I was so lucky to have a private lesson with Loc yesterday. I recently purchased my first firearm and had never touched a gun in my life. I signed up for the Level 1 course and showed up with no idea what to expect. I had not even put a bullet in my firearm because I was so nervous/inexperienced. The 5 instructors had 15 students and I was the newest newbie. I was overwhelmed and yet comfortable all at the same time. The instructors are amazing. Safety is their #1 priority and the instructions are clear and they follow up with excellent structure, set up and close supervision. My equipment wasn't ideal (I bought everything on the list for the course but of course didn't get the correct things) and Loc took the time to get me properly equipped with a belt, holster and magazine pouch for my Sig Sauer p365. The patience and kindness I received was not what I expected. Loc taught me the basics at my level of comfort and at the pace I could go. He truly has a gift for instruction. I learned the basics of safety and when it was time to shoot my weapon for the first time I was so nervous. He coached me through it and never made me feel embarrassed. The rest of the class was way ahead of me and Loc did not let me compare myself and feel bad. He kept redirecting me to only focus on what I was doing and thinking. He taught me how my mind affected my shots. Of course I made mistakes and went straight to beating myself up. He would say "give yourself grace" and help me set up to shoot again. The encouragement kept me going. I wanted to leave a few times. One remarkable thing I noticed was that he observed every single tiny detail of what I was doing and how I was feeling. I learned so much because he pointed out what I needed to improve and gave me positive reinforcement for just being there and learning. I'm still processing the whole experience. It was incredible. I have been wanting to shoot for many years. I plan to take another private lesson once I'm done processing the first one. I strongly recommend Loc and ASP Firearm Training. In the course of a year it looks like their business has grown and they are running as a more well oiled machine now. I was able to interact with many more of the team compared to before. 5 star - 10/10 would recommend. I'm signing up for pistol 2 as soon as possible. Level 1 consisted of firearm safety, malfunctions, reloads, transitions and even some rapid shooting. Able to learn and do things we otherwise can't at our local ranges. Steve was the lead instructor and was genuinely invested in what he was teaching with positive reinforcement. No intimidation or feeling less than for not knowing. Andrew was shadowing as a trainer and his background and knowledge was evident. The drills he provided were always just a dream to do but nowhere to do them. I know this sounds like a fake review but it's really not ! Just had my Level 1 Pistol training today with Steve & Dave. They were both extremely patient and frequently checked in with the groups if anyone had questions. I had multiple today and they were kind & courteous in their instructions -- they made sure that I understood everything. When I was trying techniques they were teaching, they even stood beside me to make sure I was doing it right and gave exemplary support. As much as I practiced before hand at home (with snap caps) and drilled as much firearm safety into my head before I tried out the course, I still found myself accidentally making small mistakes when doing it in real life. It was absolutely needed first hand experience to figure and realized what I was weak at, what my errors were, and how to fix it to further enhance safe usage of the firearm. read more

I just completed my CCW field training class with ASP and was surprised at how much I learned about how to safely handle a firearm. There were several instructors there who were all quite knowledgeable and wanting to make sure you understood all of the safety rules. The instructors and their associates were all quite friendly. The training course was held at a location that did not have any seating facilities and I needed to sit down occasionally due to side affects from recent spinal surgery. I mentioned this to one of the instructors and to my surprise one of the instructors went to his car and brought me a folding chair to sit on when I needed to.
