Steve and James were great guys who went above and beyond and made sure everything was 100% and cleaned up. They also suggested work arounds to use the equipment I bought for the job. We highly recommend Nicholson Company who did two HVAC system projects on a house we purchased in…read morethe Asheville area that needed one system installed and the other system upgraded. The work quality is excellent. The price was the most competitive, on a comparable basis of the four estimates we obtained. They are a pleasure to work with and their crews timely, considerate and showed pride in their work. The quality isn't just our opinion. One of the county inspectors commented: "you sure got your money's worth compared to a lot of what I see out there; who did this work?" and went on to point out the differences. The first project was the installation of an​ HVAC system (heat pump,ductwork​k, and vents) in the approximate 2500 sq. ft. finished lower level of the house. This required installing a new outside unit and inside air handler plus all related work including ducts and vents in an existing finished ceiling. We hired a drywall contractor separately to open and close a portion of the ceiling for the main duct run installed by Nicholson. The Nicholson crew ran the branch ductwork​ to minimize any additional drywall work (and help minimize our costs). The 2500 sq. ft. the ​upper level of the house needed the existing air conditioning system replaced. We opted to go with a higher efficiency heat pump there too. The existing ductwork​ was old, not sized properly, so we replaced it as well. We obtained four estimates for the work. Nicholson was the most responsive, communicated well, and answered all our questions. The work was started when scheduled and completed on time for the first and most difficult project and ahead of schedule on the second project. Two of their competitors, one a much larger company in the area, seemed interested in only doing the upper-level​ equipment replacement (higher margin work). This was later confirmed when after follow up calls with them, we received estimates for what they wanted to do as opposed to what we needed done. What struck us was Nicholson's willingness to do whatever was needed and when it was needed. That willingness to listen and do what he customer needs along with their quality, competitiveness​ and people earned them our highest recommendation.
