V is a very nice guy, seems like he knows a lot about the area, ocean, etc. My 3 kids (ages 17, 25, 13) have gone fishing multiple times in rivers, lakes, deep sea but not never shore fishing, thought it would be a good experience. My low rating is due to our overall fishing experience. It felt like our lines got stuck in the rocks consistently and kaanapali beach didn't seem to be the greatest place for fishing, especially with all the people walking and swimming near that area. My dad and I went out with Uncle V for some "holo holo". We had a great time listening to his stories and his tips. We got a few nibbles and only caught one humu, but still had a great time. We took what we learned and set out on our own during our vacation and were able to catch several fish. Uncle V gives you fantastic background and tips to set out on your own. When we arrived, he had everything set up for us already, including chairs (under shade), sunscreen, water and drinks, snacks, the poles, etc. Throughout our time, it was obvious that he had a genuine love, passion, and respect for the ocean life and the local culture. I took my grandson to Maui and wanted him to have a time he wouldn't forget. Luckily we ran into "V" on the beach in front of our condo. My grandson would rather fish than eat so I scheduled a time for him to fish with "V". I can see that "V" really enjoys what he does! We have a 10 year old and a 13 year old boy. Our 13 year old loves to fish, but our 10 yr old gets boat sick. We were unsure about fishing from the shore, but were pleasantly surprised about how fun it was and how many fish we caught. V took us out and provide all the equipment and wonderful knowledge. He was great with kids. We did a 3 hr fishing excursion and caught about 6-8 fish. We all loved it and said we would do it again. Our family had the best time with V! It was sprinkling but it didn't matter. V set up a shelter. He was always prepared with more bait when the fish ate off our lines. He was so good to our kids. Even when our time was up he stayed longer so that my son could catch and reel in his first fish!! We wound up catching and releasing 5 in about two and half hours. The kids learned to reel and throw out. We really had a blast! I thoroughly enjoyed my shore fishing trip led by Vincente, and I highly recommend it. I had never fished before. I was his first customer after the COVID shutdown, so I had a personally fishing lesson from Vincente for 3 hours! We met on a beach in the Kanapaali area. He takes great care to emphasize safety. He combines fishing advice with Hawaiian traditions and ecological sustainability. The most important Hawaiian tradition I learned was: the f**h can hear you, so never talk directly about the f**h :) I caught and released 4 fish, which was 4 more than I was expecting to catch on my first time fishing :) Vincente was a wonderful host and teacher, and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Also, the price was much more reasonable than comparable shore fishing trips I researched. In fact, I enjoyed the experience so much, that afterwards I went to the nearby Times supermarket and bought fishing gear to use for the rest of my trip, and to take home with me. read more
