Love getting grilled corn here along with the shrimp plate at Giovanni's! Super simple menu, Two flavors of corn and sometimes they have another Flavor of the Month. Order your corn at the window and then it's about 15min for pick up. I came back to check in and waited a little longer til mine was ready since I had three. We love the corn as a side dish to our lunch so always a must have when we come up to North shore.

BBQ corn on the North Shore [Kahuku HI] We stopped at the historic Kahuku Sugar Mill to get some eats. After sharing a scampi plate from Giovanni's and were about to leave I saw this elderly woman heartily enjoying a corn on the cob... I wanted one too so I told my hubby (before he started the car) to hold on, wait a minute... I'ma get me some corn on the cob w/ garlic in it! 808 Corn Stars was one of the vendors in Kahuku. There were two da kine: Southwest style and Kahuku style, $7/ea. Bought one of each! The Southwest had similar flavors of the Mexican elote. The Kahuku is butter w/ garlic flavors. They were ready in 7 minutes (or less) Both were yummy and flavorful! I was able to pay by credit card. Service was friendly... she thought I was kamaʻāina. I pass for local! Review #3583

    Whats in the flavors

If you're cruising through Kahuku and your taste buds are tingling for something absolutely corn-tastic, then 808 CORN STARS is your golden ticket to flavor town! Say goodbye to the old Uncle Bob's Corn Shack and HELLO to the glow up of the century! This charming little shack has been sprinkled with extra love, laughter and a whole lot of buttery goodness. Let's talk about Tina: one of the shining stars of Corn Stars! She's not just a beautiful, sweet soul, but also a fearless, hardworking leader who knows how to hustle. You can feel her passion in every juicy bite of corn. Trust me, this lady is the definition of corn-fidence! Now, onto the real stars....the flavors! Southwest Corn ($7) Hold onto your taste buds because this best-seller is a flavor explosion! Butter, mayo, a zesty pop of lemon or lime juice and a generous sprinkle of cotija or parmesan cheese.... perfection! And... don't even get me started on that Elote seasoning. It's like a fiesta in your mouth! One bite and you'll be doing a little corn dance. Kahuku Corn ($7) Simple, savory, and straight up ono! With butter, garlic powder, garlic salt and black pepper, this corn is like a warm island breeze. It's giving "local comfort food" and I'm 100% here for it. Oh and did I mention the free samples? That's right...today they were serving up bites of freeze-dried joy and the Neapolitan ice cream had me grinning like a kid at a candy store. Onolicious to the max! You'll find 808 Corn Stars shining bright right next to Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. The shack is spotless, the vibes are high and the customer service? Absolutely kernel-icious! Whether you're a corn connoisseur or just need a buttery pick me up, this is your spot. But the best part? They've got you covered with floss sticks for every cob, now that's service with a smile! So, grab your friends, grab your family and get ready to be butterly amazed! 808 Corn Stars is the upgrade Kahuku never knew it needed and I'm already planning my next visit. 5/5 kernels, highly recommend!

This southwest corn was so delicious. Corn was sweet, roasted well, and lots of toppings! This was made fresh to order so there was a short 6-7 minute wait, but well worth it.

We stumbled across this burger spot without expecting much, but wow everything was SO good. Definitely be aware of the burger sizes because they are massive! I would absolutely recommend this place and would 100% come back!

It came with two onion rings and pineapple. Beef patty had a nice smoke flavor. We also ordered a side of onion rings and paniolo. Highly recommend Paniolo; it came with crispy fries (looks like thinly sliced potatoes), bbq sauce and onion rings. I thought food was good. A few ppl in my group thought the burger patty was kind of dry. The decor was cute and beach themed. Overall, customer service was friendly when we were ordering. I noticed a few workers were going around checking on folks and having long conversations but they didn't come to us so whatever. They have clean bathrooms in the back. Plenty of parking available!

This year, we were determined to make it early enough to finally try the Bald Guy, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was honestly divine. We tried the pan-fried poke, kalbi beef, furikake crusted salmon, chopped steak, and spam musubi, and every single thing was incredible. It was so good that we ended up eating here twice during our trip. Also, special shoutout to the mac and cheese because WOW... it is ridiculously good. My personal favorites were the poke, chopped steak, and kalbi beef, but truly everything we ordered was amazing. The staff was also super kind and helpful with all our questions. Just a heads up, they do sell out of certain items before closing, so definitely try to get there earlier rather than later. Cannot wait to come back!

This time I wanted to try the garlic shrimp bc I've only heard good things. My niece and her boyfriend were visiting and I wanted them to experience this food truck. They ordered a combo plate with the garlic shrimp and steak. The food was delicious. They actually rated it the best meal that had while they were on the island. That should tell ya something. The shrimp were big and cooked perfectly. Seasoned to perfection. Just the right amount of garlic and the extra sauce made for the best rice. I was happy with the quantity of shrimp too. Definitely a worth it meal in my book. I also got a teriyaki spam musubi to try. Also good. I like how they wrapped it. Just a slight variation from the ones I typically eat. Will definitely be back. I still want to try the salmon. We got in line just at the right time bc when we turned to sit down after ordering there was a long line that had formed behind us. Our food got done quickly and we sat down at the picnic tables to enjoy it. It was busy so we shared a picnic table with another family. Hopefully you don't mind doing that bc space is often limited.

Definitely worth stopping in at Seven Brothers Restaurant and or the bakery as well. Back to Mikes, You'll walk up and spot signage plus the yellow signature bus shack. I'd seen Mikes Huli Chicken on an episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives and Guy said "the skin is as crispy as it gets next to being fried." That never left my memory. This being my next visit since seeing that episode, I had to try it. What did I order? - Mikes Huli Chicken Plate $17: 4/5 Stars - Chicken is a nice half chicken portion, perfectly juicy, nicely slight char taste. Crispy skin? Unfortunately no. - The Mac salad is nice. - Generous serving of rice *** Mikes Huli sauce is delicious! Be sure to find the self serve bottle and the to go sauce cups and get you some extra. You'll walk up and place your order at the window, pay, cash or card, then find yourself a seat. The cashier was simple and quick to the point. No small talk. The seating area within mikes truck is a decent size accommodating roughly 15 to 20 people. Outside, there additional tables as well. Overall, I'd say if you're in the area, give it a try, it will neither blow your socks off nor disappoint. Mikes is a solid Huli Chicken plate. It simply delivers satisfying meal.

Meh. I feel like the quality of Mike's has gone downhill…read more I stopped by yesterday during a trip to the North Shore to get some lunch. I got the #9 plate, which is kalua pork, huli chicken, and I got mac salad. The kalua pork meat itself was fine. Not gristly and not too fatty. However, barely any smoke taste to it and was fairly bland. The huli chicken didn't have crispy skin. It seemed lukewarm like it had been cooked a while earlier and was just sitting. The sauce is amazing and I do think it's delicious with the sauce. Rice was just rice. Meh. Even adding shoyu didn't add much flavor to it, to be honest. The mac salad is extremely bland. I don't know if they need to add some acid to the mayonnaise or more salt, but it was pasty and no flavor. I would honestly skip getting the mac salad next time and get regular salad! That's how bad this mac salad was. Two slices of pineapple on the plate were fresh and flavorful. I did enjoy these. Service was okay. I had asked if they still honored kama'aina discount and was told no. That's fine; I understand not all places offer discounts. I don't know when kama'aina discount stopped being offered, but back in the day I used to receive it when asking. I did notice though that two guys who ordered before me got a "mahalo, braddah" in a friendly tone but I got a terse "thanks." Guess haole girls don't get mahalos even if local. It's just uncomfortable when certain people get friendly, effusive mahalos and others get terse thanks, like I didn't want to be serving you food today. Maybe cause it was Mother's Day and they didn't want to be there? Sure didn't feel like 'ohana today. So many flies around, it made eating uncomfortable. A few fly fans on tables but not at the one where I was seated, so it was basically like constantly shooing away flies and trying to take a bite of food super fast before they came back on my food. Probably I should have taken my food away and gone to the beer garden nearby with fewer flies. Meh. I used to really like Mike's but I will stick to Da Bald Guy and Seven Brothers when I visit the sugar mill in the future.

We ordered the Spicy Shrimp and the Shrimp Scampi plates, and neither was impressive. The food came out almost instantly, which proves it is not cooked to order. Because it sits around, the shrimp is incredibly difficult to peel. Anyone who cooks shrimp knows that if you do not peel it right after cooking, the shell sticks to the meat, which was exactly the case here. The Spicy Shrimp had a decent kick, but it lacked actual flavor. The Shrimp Scampi was better but still bland. Honestly, 9 out of 10 shrimp places back home in Southern California make a better plate. To make things worse, the two ladies managing the truck were rude. My wife asked for extra napkins, not realizing some were already in the bag. The worker snapped back, "Are those not enough?" and made her feel super awkward. We also asked for a cup of ice to go with our canned sodas. They flatly refused and told us to ask another truck nearby. Luckily, the other truck owners were much nicer and gave us the ice. Save your time and money. There are much better, friendlier options out there.

Hub's sandwich was huge, and he said it was a little challenging to eat it as stuffing was falling out. MIL's sandwich was a decent amount of pulled pork, and she liked the sauce on the sandwich.
