I traveled to Kona, Hawaii on Easter Sunday with plans to work remotely for the week. When I arrived at my hotel, I realized I had made the worst mistake possible -- I forgot my computer charger. Not just any charger either, but a 170W charger for my ThinkPad, definitely not something you can just grab at Walmart or OfficeMax. I tried building a computer but it wouldn't boot, I dropped it off and they fixed it real quick. I had an iMac that was having display issues. The estimate was higher than my budget so I asked them to find it a good home. Then I had a software issue (technically bios) and everything was fine. They fixed it! But then there was a hardware issue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's been more than 6 months. Last time I asked for an update, I got no callback. I showed up today and they knew me by name and gave me the runaround.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was patient, but now I'm expecting resolution. No fix, no fee, but what about when it's been 6+ months and no contact since October? I will be the first to admit that I'm bad at answering phone calls but if it takes more than 6 months to resolve a software issue... It's a good computer too. Upgraded to a new WIN 11 based desktop, purchased from Costco, from an older WIN 10 desktop tower. Was apprehensive as our former computer provider and support business shut down and left for the mainland and we had limited experience with 808 Computers. However, no problem! The 808 staff migrated all our applications and data to the new box (it is so much faster) without a single glitch. Everything is working as it should once I put the system back together. They have a "fixed" price for this type of service that, given how well they performed, is worth every dollar. And, none of this "you need this or that extra hardware/software" stuff. They do the job and do it well which, in my opinion, is very refreshing. read more

I have made several recent visits to 808 with laptop and tablet problems. In every case, their expert advice was profoundly helpful. In case Where repair was not possible, there was no charge for their consultation. they also advised on alternative solutions when I had a problem with a tablet not charging and that would not boot properly and not only fixed the problem for free but explained why the charging process was not working. Have dealt with both Jay and Joe. They deserve 5 stars for their fast, reliable, and most importantly communicative service on transferring my data from an old computer to a new computer. They also fixed my Epson scanner. 0 stars for ROBERT who is apparently the owner. Absolute abhorrent customer service, short, rude, and overall just difficult. You'll notice a reoccurring theme here every bad review Robert has replied to, he calls the customer a liar. I needed to use my laptop while on vaca and tried to get the part I needed from Office Max, which didn't work, then found 808 on the internet and they saved the day! Very easy going and I really liked their knowledge/efficiency/honesty. By contrast, when I took the part back to Office Max, they tried to sell me something else to fix the problem and said it was even cheaper, to which I said, "no, thanks, it's been taken care of," and I thought, "so you had a less expensive solution but sold me the one that cost more and didn't work, I think I'll remember that." Ruskin and his associate Joe took on the challenge of extracting data from an ancient 250MB iOmega desktop drive. They found it to be more effort than it was worth, with uncertain results. They agreed to recycle the device and did not charge anything for their investigation. That's apparently their policy: No charge if they can't solve the problem. If I had more time on the Island, I would bring my laptop to them for a tune-up. They have a couple of goofy videos on their web site, good for a few laughs. Mahalo, gentlemen. read more

Generous. Professional. Compassionate. Patient. We are visiting and I forgot the power plug cable for my charging unit at home. I was trying to find someone who had the just the plug portion as I did not want to buy then entire unit. I asked many people and searched for someone who had the part without success. All the recommendations were fruitless. I had run out of options when someone recommended 808 Computers. I went to the shop hoping they would have the correct missing piece. They looked at outlet and sorted through one bin to another coming up with cords that were close, each time it refined where to look next. At last after numerous bins and much time, they found the correct cable. After all that effort and so very grateful to have my vacation saved, I was willing to pay whatever they asked. As they handed me the cable, they said enjoy the rest of my vacation. Perplexed, I pulled out my credit card and asked what the charge was. Once again, they said to enjoy the rest of my vacation and added there would be no charge. I could not believe this. They said it was a spare and said I could have it free. Absolutely outrageous prices. I took my pc in a year ago for a failed cooling system and paid just over $260 which was responsible. A family member of mine just took theirs in last week for the exact same issue and paid over $520. Called and asked why there was such a massive price increase and was told that prices went up by 30% at the beginning of the year. Ok, that should have then cost just under $400 and not over $500. There was also extremely confusing communication. When the pc was dropped off we were told they had the parts. Then the next day they said they were waiting on parts. All in all, I do not recommend this shop anymore. read more

My Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters had failed to open (even though they were functioning according to my device manager). Even the Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot icons were not visible in my taskbar. Despite trying several fixes suggested from various computer help websites, nothing worked. With just two days home between mainland trips, I was desperate to get a firmware fix before flying back to the mainland. 808 Computers came to the rescue! Aware of the time crunch, 808 prioritized my request and I was up and running in short order. Whatever the solution was, they refused to charge me for the fix.
