This is a no brainer for surfboard rental! I called for a board rental, told them where I intended to surf, what I normally ride, and asked for their recommendation based on that and the current conditions. An hour and a half later a very new 9' fiberglass 808 Board showed up delivered to my hotel with an extra 1/2 stick of wax. Met the driver in the valet area of my hotel, gave him a credit card for deposit and $25 for the 24 hour rental plus a tip. The next morning I dropped the board off with the hotel bellmen and 808 came by to pick it up later that morning without any involvement from me. This could not get any easier or more convenient. If you just want a board for a few days of local playing around and don't want to cart your stuff all the way to Maui then you'll be hard pressed to find a service that beats this! read more

Yesterday Andy taught us to surf. One of the nicest and warmest guys we had met. Caught many wawes and Andy gave us good useful tips. Today we rented smaller boards and with those tips we "rode" the wawes by ourselves :) The whole staff @808 Boards have been really helpful and nice to us. We came and asked advice as to where to surf, rented boards from them. When we arrived at the beach, the lifeguard turned us away, and said the conditions were extremely dangerous with high swells. We came back, and the guy at 808 boards was extremely rude. We asked for even a partial refund given that we relied on their dangerous advice, but were rudely denied. Asked to speak to owner, and he refused to talk to us. Lots of other places to rent from, would not advise to rent here. read more

I was behind a customer in the shop who was returning a board that was damaged. I was behind the young man, so I heard his entire conversation at saw the board. He showed the clerk where it was damaged, a repair had already taken place. I saw the actual board. He said he was told the manager would be there to look at the board if he arrived at 12:30, the manager was not there. By phone the manager told him to fork over $300 for a repair. The young man said he could buy a similar used board for way less than that. The manager did not even view the board. This is an instance of locals taking advantage of tourists. I did not want to give them my $ but my daughter needed a reef shirt. I will never go there again. Poor customer service, not honest. Sad because I feel everyone else we encountered on Maui has had a beautiful energy, and Aloha spirit. I don't often write reviews but just had to write this one. read more

I called the place to see if I could do a group surf class on a Monday. The guy said he would see if he could start making a group class for me to join as right now no one was booked for that Monday. He said if he couldn't get me in a class, he would refer me to another surf group lesson in the area. Monday came and went and the guy never called me to tell me the class was not happening or to refer me to another school. Very poor customer service. read more

Best SUP Rental on the island! My husband and I called at 8:30am to rent to boards for the day - Matt was there by 9:00am. Since the swell and chop were pretty bad in Kahana that day, Matt gave us the straps to attach the boards to our car and drive further south. We loved the adjustable paddles, and the boards were a far better quality than we have gotten by renting hourly on the beach. The next morning, the boards were picked up from our condo with no hassle whatsoever - all for the amazing price of $45 each for the full 24 hours. Great company. We had rented a beat up regular surfboard from another vendor, but noticed people on the beach on super nice boards with their logo. Encouraged my sisters to try renting SUP's from them instead. They have high quality boards and provide excellent service. One of the local guys on the beach either thought the board or one of my sisters looked great out on the waves and kept asking her about the board. Being from Austin, we have paddle boarded on the lake. 808 Boards were suggested to us by a friend and we couldn't have had a better experience. The delivery was prompt, even at 7:30 am! I cannot remember who delivered the boards, although I do know it was not Dallas and he also worked at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas. He was extremely helpful in giving us basic lessons and telling us helpful hints for paddle boarding in the ocean and where we can find a more in depth instructional video if we needed it. The boards were extremely easy to transport due to their lightweight. They were also much more cost friendly than renting from the resorts and it caused us no inconvenience getting them from off of the resort. You get them for a 24 hour period. We got ours at 7:30 a.m. and planned to just paddle board that day. When you are finished with them, you return them to the bell boys and they handle the pick up for you. Just so convenient! My son and I took lessons with Ben Williams, a very soft spoken and easy going instructor. And boy, is he strong! While taking us out to the waves he kick-toed us all the way out-he had a smaller board but it was a good 200 yards out to sea. Anyone wanting to surf should take lessons from Ben. He was close to our hotel and was very accommodating. He's probably one of the best in Maui! You and your kids will love it. read more

Free delivery and pickup! We rented a paddle board at their shop for one day, and my longtime-surfer husband paddled it from Napili Bay all the way back to our condo a few beaches away. He didn't want to paddle it back the next morning (would've been a tough slog going against the current) and the board was too big to fit in our rental car, so we called them and they picked it up at our condo for free. We waited for a favorable day towards the end of our trip to rent a stand up board. I've surfed, boogie boarded, skim boarded all my life but never done a stand up board. The day was a bit windy, but not terrible. Went to the shop and asked to rent a board. Was flatly denied after I told the guy there I hadn't done stand up before. I recently rented a board from Dallas at 808. The boards are awesome. I rented a 9'10" SUP that was a joy to ride. I took it out 4 different days. I liked the board so much I ended up buying a board from 808. Shipping was easy. And Dallas subtracted the rental charges from the price. Dallas is very knowledgeable about local breaks.
