Was visiting Santa Barbara and decided to stop by this boba spot. I was pleasantly surprised by how great this boba place is! When my family and I walked inside it was very clean, with a bright and clean interior. There are large windows that let in lots of sunshine, which is very nice. There are also a few games and areas to hang out. There are two options to order - over the screen or ordering with a cashier. We ordered with the cashier, who was very patient and friendly while we ordered and asked about their large menu selection. And, to be fair, there truly is an option for anyone at 805 Boba - they have tons of colorful and delicious flavors! I got the Strawberry Horchata Milk Tea with Honey Boba, which was amazing. My mom said that her drink, the Pineapple Passion Green Tea, was very good with a nice bright tropical flavor. My sister got a small Strawberry Slush which had a sweetness she really liked. I needed a boba fix & this place didn't disappoint! The strawberry milk tea w/ boba was very much to my liking--perfectly sweet (not watered down, but also not so sweet that I couldn't drink it), nice & chilled (I requested less ice to get more bang for my buck & decrease the water down effect as the ice melts), & the leftover still tastes yummy a few hours later. The boba was perfectly chewy for my standards, & it came in an enjoyable liquid to boba ratio. I believe this medium-sz drink cost about $8, which is very pricey, but worth the cost during this trip. Hoping that the orange green tea I bought for tomorrow's road trip is just as enjoyable! Service was lovely! I initially attempted to input my order via kiosk, but couldn't comprehend the process...fortunately, one of the employees was quick to assist. The tea was fine (although I couldn't customize the sugar level), but the boba balls were inconsistent at best - some were softer, some were harder. Service was fine. The boba was way too sweet and tastes like syrup only rather than actual flavor. I didn't like that you had to order on a screen if you wanted to pay with card because there's only certain things rather than the options they have on the menu. Idk I miss when boba was affordable and actually good. Maybe they should get rid of the 100 flavors and stick to a few with actual intention of making them good. The cons - very sticky floor, overflowing trash, tough and tasteless boba (some of the worst we've ever had), and extremely sweet drinks (even when asked to make them less sweet). I don't recall ever having a decent experience here. 805 Boba has been open for several years now, and it seems like they have no incentive to improve in any meaningful way. Given the competition in the area (or the lack thereof), I don't see that changing anytime soon. They have a nice central location in an outdoor shopping mall. Parking is hassle-free and doesn't cost anything for the first 75 minutes. The interior is decorated with various art pieces, which gives it some character. Seating is limited, but you shouldn't have any issues finding a table outside. There are also games for patrons to play with. The menu is very extensive here; they have something for everyone. If you're not a fan of milk tea, they also have several smoothie flavors, slushes, coffee drinks, and regular brewed teas. Ice and sugar levels are not adjustable. One unique thing I see is that you have the ability to mix flavors. You can choose up to two flavors if you order a small or up to three flavors if you get a medium/large. They also have a good amount of toppings. A large (33 oz) gets double the amount of toppings. Recently I tried their Earl Grey Milk Tea, which I wasn't a fan of. There was no tea flavor at all, and it wasn't even milky either. It was like sugar mixed with water. The boba was too soft and they were very skimpy with the portions. Go to Blenders if you're looking for smoothies. Drive to IV or Goleta if you are looking to try other boba places. I wouldn't waste my calories or my money here. read more

This is not a traditional boba place, featuring a number of fruit and slushy options. There's a very short list of milk tea options, to my dismay. Service was extremely friendly as the cashier was patient in taking my order with all my questions. They were also very accommodating with special requests that I had. We ordered the espresso milk tea drink. It normally comes with their pre-made black milk tea that is pre-sweetened, however, they were able to make it freshly brewed without the added sugar. We also ordered the weekly special shown on their board which was the summer slushie. Interestingly they ran out of two of the ingredients in the supposed concoction of watermelon, blueberry, and pineapple with strawberry boba, and we had to substitute pineapple with mango and the strawberry boba with mango jelly. The slushy was rather tart for our liking. And the espresso milk tea was pretty standard and nothing special. This place is worth a stop if you're really wanting a boba fix. With a 1.5+ hour drive I had to get a boba tea fix. 805 Boba is located in an outdoor shopping mall on State St. After lunch I walked around to find a drink place and landed here. DRINK: They didn't have what I initially ordered so I went with pineapple passion green tea. I added crystal boba and modified to 50% sweet and less ice. Overall, it's ok and nothing special. There is a pretty-wide variety of flavors on the menu. PRICE: The price is very reasonable. PARKING: There are parking structures around the area or near State St. If you're thirsty and just need a drink, 805 Boba will do the job. This location has a huge selection The menu is huge and written on the massive walls it is easy to read but it takes up a couple different walls and after we ordered we noticed a special we didn't see that we probably would have tried but also didn't see avails when ordering. So when you walk in and find what you want on the wall your ushered to a self ordering kiosk that sends in your order and after it's made by one of the many makers your drink is called out by the name you gave. So make it creative because you wouldn't want to grab the wrong order by mistake. Between the drinks we ordered my husband liked his the least it was banana that tasted artificial which I said happens at places like this you just have to ask. Shrugs. I went the same route mostly because it was busy and ordered a Thai tea. It was perfect for the hot day. I'd hadn't been to this outdoor shopping mall area before and they were setting up the side street for a large farmers market which we didn't know was happening that day either so we really lucked out. If you can spare 20-30 minutes to wait, your boba drink won't be worth it. I used the kiosk to order my drink and specified that I wanted my drink to be half-sweet. I've been here in the past and they were able to accommodate that sweetness level. I noticed when he made the drink he just pulled out a bucket of milk tea and shaked it with some ice. Not freshly made to order and was at a full sweetness level. There was one guy working, and I totally understand if he was backed up on orders. But stop taking orders then!!! The place's deco-approach is like an art gallery style as work from local artisans surround the interior walls. It is colorful and kitchy but full of personality. They have a huge black board wall where the menu is written they can give recommendations too. As for their boba, it wasn't much to be excited about. The pearl is still tough in the middle and tea was weak for my taste. I got the house special so I thought it would be their signature drink. I but turned out to be a slight miss. Which is a huge plus for me because I usually take kids when I go and we all know that taking kids to any restaurant or drink stop can be a lot. Also this spot has such a large menu. My favorite order right now is the green tea, honeydew, with brown honey boba. Anything guava is also so yummy! Oh and don't forget to try a slush boba! There's a pretty large variety of flavour options and toppings. I was actually impressed at how many options you could possibly have. I ended up with just the regular Thai milk tea. I was less impressed to see that this particular drink was just premade and poured out from a container. Not sure if this is a constant or just this particular one.
