We called ahead, they said they were both open for another 45mins and dog friendly. I hitched my doggo and me and the friends did the 5min walk from my house. Not only did they DEADBOLT the door, they forwarded/denied my calls when I tried to reach out. HORRIBLE experience. Place is always super loud, with no place to actually talk. Can't even understand anyone talking across the table. Weird random cover charges on a Sunday for a dj in the back yard?! Seems like the place doesn't know whether it's a bar, an arcade, a restaurant or a club. came here for a friend's friend's art show. I thought it was cool, I'd never been to anything like it. Inside there are arcade games, a bar, DJ booth, and a little area for food from jeepney guys. Outside has a bar, some cabanas, and this big heart installation. It's got a really cool vibe! I was excited to see there were Filipino themed drinks (I got the calamansi shandy- calamansi w/ San Miguel beer, my friend got the Manila margarita which was super strong!) food wise was a little disappointed. I've had jeepney guys at a food truck before and liked it, but the food at this spot wasn't their best. My friend ordered a lot of food and noticed some of it got cold very quickly. Music was good. The bathroom was cool and weird because one bathroom had urinals and a closed off toilet and then the other one was just a bathroom. So at least guys were able to pee quickly lol. This place looks cool from the outside, unfortunately we didn't make it any further than that because they were charging a $10 dollar cover. I get it, we live in the Bay Area and it's expensive but the bar had about 10 people in it max on a Friday night at 10pm. Also, $10 is more than they charge in SF and this place isn't even in a high traffic area, it's right next to West Oakland BART. We left because we weren't going to pay an extra $20 for the two of us, on top of paying for food and drinks. While we were standing waiting for our ride about three other parties also arrived and turned around once they realized there was a cover charge. I did want to visit this place, I hope they re-consider their cover charge at least until they gain some more traction and make it worth the price. read more

Sunday afternoon with the family. Kid discovered she loved pinball and wife loved the freestyle selection the DJ was spinning. Had the chicken adobo platter and the kid had the fried chicken with rice. Couldn't and wouldnt complain. Lots of talk about revitalizing the area for years. And here comes a family friendly space in an area of town that desperately needed something, anything. And this "something" with its outdoor musical oasis and indoor arcade escape is far from just "anything". I follow 7th west on IG and it is so awesome to see how thick the crowds they pull are. Respect for the owners for coming in to a "less than desireable" area and succeeding at creating an untraditional establishment while going after a not-so-sought-after and sometimes forgotten clientele (families). read more

We WANT to eat here all the time. When this place opened, we were like "OMG I am going to empty my wallet there like three or four times a week". But there's literally nothing for us to spend money on. Jeepney needs more protein options. There's shrimp sometimes. There should be shrimp all the time. Can you add some other shellfish or fried tilapia or catfish or scallops or anything? Filipino food includes seafood, yah? Islands? Need a vegetarian option too. a little veggies on white rice doesn't count. Its ok, you guys are obviously not vegetarians, but vegetarians can't eat stir fried veggies on white rice. That's like showing up at a bar where they just play Hall and Oats all night. Can you do Tofu? Tempeh? a meaningful amount of mushrooms? (menu says there's mushrooms in the veggie thing, but not that i could tell) Need brown and or brown/wild rice blend or quinoa option -- anything other than white rice. White rice makes it hard to eat here more than once a week. Also no protein if you don't eat pork or chicken makes it hard to eat here, but we already discussed that above. I know, its a lot to ask, and I feel a little weird writing a review in this way. I wouldn't write a review for another establishment just suggesting they add options to their menu, but you're the only thing going in West Oakland. Its a lot of responsibility. And the only problem is that you have a third of a menu so I am trying to be very constructive with my review. I hope it helps. Last fun fact -- the regular tots are $5 and the fancy tots are $10. but the fancy tots just have seasoning salt and a sprinkle of green onion on them. This place has changed drastically!!! Gave it two chances after the pandemic but it will clearly never be the same. The staff is incredibly rude and impatient consistently yelling at patrons for one thing or the other. You can simply be yelled at while waiting in line for the bathroom. Love the food here! Always authentic and filling and unexpected for a bar. The staff is always super chill. The one thing I have to exclaim about tho we're the bathrooms!! First time customer, I was greeted by a friendly counter person, the restaurant is set in a warehouse. Cool arcade games circa 1986, and a bank of pinball machines. When I walked in the music was bumpin, and I thought it could be a great spot for a 35 and older birthday get together. They have a huge screen on one wall which would be great to catch a Warriors game (with sound crossing fingers). I ordered the chicken adobo, it's not fair b/c I grew up on adobo, so my standards are incredibly high. I likely wouldn't order it again. Here is a place that is really unique. If you're looking for a place that gives you a feeling of being at a garage party with the added bonus of having the comfort of a fully stocked bar, a live DJ, and old school arcades, then this is definitely a place for you. First of all, when arriving to this place you will find that parking will be along 7th Street. However, I must warn you that the Google Maps will detour you to drive through a small homeless encampment alleyway right behind the venue to get back onto 7th Street. Upon entering this place, you will be amazed at how well sized this venue is! They have ample amounts of long tables for people to sit at and enjoy the night with the company that they arrived with. The bar itself is quite large and it is a fully stocked bar and they also have beer on tap. They also had a DJ that night that was playing throwback hip hop from the early 2000s which is what I grew up on. They have quite a bit of old school arcades and pinball machines. My favorite was the Terminator pinball machine. There is enough room in front of the DJ booth to turn into a small dance floor, but I don't think that this place should turn into a club. I kind of like the feeling that this place gives me which is the feeling of being in a garage party, but a very large one with tables and a fully stocked bar and arcades. Again the thing I like about being here is that it is a very large venue and there is a lot of room to move around here. This can be a great place to take your date on because you have the ability to enjoy a nice drink, here's some nice music, and have the ample amount of room to move around so that you can engage in a night full of different activities. Whether you want to just have intimate conversation, or go play the arcade, or get your grind on dancing on Dance Floor, or if you want to chill out in the back area it's totally up to you. They even serve you food which you can order and I believe it is Filipino food so you can get yourself a small basket of freshly made lumpias man I'm telling you this place is pretty chill. This place has a very huge backyard patio area! You have to literally walk through a gated back door screen which reminds of being at home, and then you are greeted by this huge amount of space in the back. They have about four different gazebos which are connected to one another. There is lawn tables underneath each gazebo which will allow you to again enjoy the night with your group of friends. Heck, you can even bring that special someone that you pulled from the bar or the Dance Floor to get some private conversation going on and there's no better place than to do it outside underneath the gazebo or you can have a meaningful conversation and actually be able to hear what YouTuber are you guys are saying because inside can be very noisy with the huge and I mean huge nightclub sized speakers blasting. There's also a variety of games in the back that you can enjoy and you have to take a look and appreciate the graffiti mural and that is painted on the entire wall of the building. Someone has done both the front of the building and the back of the building in the back door patio area and it looks absolutely amazing it must have took a long time to do. So if you're into art I think this would definitely suit you well. There are a couple of recommendations I can make to this place though. First of all, I really think that a place of this caliber deserves to serve their cocktails and beer in actual glasses rather than plastic cups. Using plastic cups is probably less maintenance because people can just throw them away when they're done drinking, but to me a glass just adds that Final Touch like a bow tie on a gift and I think that this place definitely deserves that extra detail to make it complete. Second of all and lastly, I think as the weather is starting to change and go back to winter time it would be ideal that if they want to keep the back door patio area open for their guests that they should at least have a couple of standing space heaters to kind of keep people warm. Thankfully it wasn't Chili's the night that we went, but it was a very slight breeze that was signifying to me the approach of fall season and I can see that being in the back without a space heater would be an issue. Again these are just recommendations that I feel would make the guest feel really comfortable being there. Therefore I give this place a solid four and a half Stars if I can. I will definitely be coming back here to enjoy a night out on Town Bizness. read more

I enjoyed the layout of this establishment with the artificial turf and the 80's music but that was just about it. Our party ordered several items including the: Fried chicken, sisig, and the tocino. However, all of these items were fairly bland/below average. I enjoy Filipino food but it lacked in authenticity and flavor. In addition, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive and even then our order was not correct. We would expect to receive better customer service as they did not offer us anything for our party waiting for an extended period of time even though they were fairly light in terms of busyness. Not even a check up from any of the servers for the time we were there. Sadly we will not be coming back. read more

7th West brings the first stylish hip bar to West Oakland and manages to do it in a socially aware manner and draws a diverse and friendly crowd. I've been three times. Always on a Friday or Saturday night. There are always people on the dance floor and always a live DJ spinning toons. There are quite a few old fashioned pinball games and arcade games to play. A nice patio area with seating outdoors. They have a decent selection of local beers on tap for $6 or $7 per pint. Sometimes they have a small cover charge but more often entry is free. I haven't tried food from the attached Filipino kitchen yet but prices are reasonable and I've heard the Lechon is great. read more

Very cool idea and I want to really like this place, but I definitely left with a bad taste in my mouth. Pros: Arcade games and alcohol! Super chill environment. It's a big warehouse with arcade games along the walls and random mismatched tables in the center for seating. Bar on the side. Decor isn't all there but I'm there for nostalgia and drinks lol Cons: The whole outside is funky. It's hard to find the spot because there's no signage. I couldn't find a good spot to park either so I parked on the side of the bar. But, it definitely felt like my car was gonna get hit or a window smashed. The homeless tents right next to it didn't make me feel any better, either. I went in anyways ready to accept the possibility of something happening lol. The food spot is right at the door so the location isn't ideal. I haven't tried the food so I can't comment. All of these "cons" were kinda okay in my book; I've been to worse spots that offered less. What really turned me off was the bar. There were two bartenders, an Asian lady and black man. The lady wasn't very warm, which is fine, but she was a bit slow serving people. She was, however, phenomenal compared to the guy... When I came back for my second drink, the lady was busy serving drinks to other people. So, my eyes met the male bartender's eyes and we both gave each other the nod of acknowledgement. I see he's in the middle of something and he'll get to me as soon as he's done. Some moments pass (5-10 minute?) and I'm chill about it until I notice he's not really in the middle of something. He's moving glasses around and looking up occasionally. Almost as if he's checking if somebody needs a drink, but also not wanting to actually engage and ask if anybody needs a drink. I stand there patiently trying to get more eye contact, but he's clearly avoiding it. I wait another 5 mins and he picks up a 5 gallon bucket to fill with water. Then, he just stands there waiting for the water to fill. I keep looking at him, wave towards him, and start asking for a drink. He nods again and mouths something along the lines of "I got you". OK, he's still busy and will get to me next. A couple moments pass again and somebody else stands next to me and waves the same way I did. He gets the bartender's attention and immediately got a beer and left. I'm naturally confused because we had a couple good nods at each other lol. So, I finally ask "hey, excuse me, you taking orders right now?" To which he gives me the disgusted "wtf" look like, looks down at the bucket, says "can I finish this, first?" and rolls his eyes. "My bad," I replied because I didn't want to be confrontational. I felt so uncomfortable after that exchange so I just left. I came in feeling ehh, enjoyed 30 mins inside, and then left feeling super uneasy. Maybe I'll try the place again because I like the concept. But, probably not considering how rude the bartender was. read more

So, I think I'm in love with 7th West. Went to the grand opening last night of "a new Oakland bar" and was completely knocked off my feet. The space is a huge, warehouse style bar, with food (cannot comment on as I didn't try any) and drinks served both inside and out. DJ's we're working their magic and folks were getting down. Inside has video games and pinball, outside had vendor booths, photo booths, live graffiti art, and plenty of space to shake your booty. It's kid friendly (up to a certain time), dog friendly, AND it's close to bart. Basically there's nothing it doesn't offer. Lucky, lucky us, Oakland has another treasure. read more
