I'm new to the area so after checking out the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this shop a try. According to Yelp, they accept walk-ins so I just stopped by. When I came inside no one greeted me or even looked my way. It was so quiet I didn't realize until after I sat down that there were at least 4 other people (besides the most visible person) working there (all with clients). I sat down to scroll on my phone to see if there were any other shops nearby that I could go to. I sat there for nearly 10 minutes and no one said anything to me. Finally a lady finished with her client, walked past me to the front desk, and asked over her shoulder if I signed in. I repeated the question as I didn't see anywhere that I could have signed in, and said that I didn't have an appointment. She replied "you have to have an appointment. We're all booked up today." That's it, that was all. She didn't offer to make an appointment for me for another day or anything, so I walked out (which is what I should have done when no one spoke to me when I came in). Take your business elsewhere unless customer service is not important to you. read more

I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure and I have no complaints whatsoever, they did an absolutely wonderful job. The salon is very pleasant to be in, everything looks clean and pretty. Very disappointed during my first time here for a pedicure. We had made reservations ahead of time and I came here with 2 others. They were waiting for manicures. We were the only ones there except for 2 women who were already getting manicures. We were completely ignored for the first 20 minutes. Very unfriendly and no-one approached us or spoke to us. Then the woman who worked there got up and kept checking the computer but couldn't find us - so she said she thought we made an error and weren't supposed to be there). She finally did find us and we were listed in the computer (as we stated). They began the manicures and I was brought over to the chair to wait for my pedicure. It was almost a FULL HOUR (55 minutes) before my pedicure started. The water had turned cold that my feet were soaking in. While I sat waiting- the man (who I later found out was the OWNER) sat with his back to me laughing and chatting with a woman as he gave her a manicure. He never turned to check on me, never apologized and never even acknowledged me while I sat there waiting for almost an hour. It was extremely rude and unprofessional. After she left, he said to his co-worker that the woman was someone special (a celebrity of sorts) and it was clear that he took his time and was trying to win her approval. He muttered a quick apology as he started my pedicure but rushed through it and it wasn't a great job. I didn't find out that he was the owner until after I left. I thought that he was just a newbie with poor social skills and time management skills. As I said - there was no-one else there. It's not even like the place was full of people. I've never waited that long and would have left if I didn't have to wait for the others. Such a let down. I expected so much more. read more

I came to Nailplay with my sister in preparation for her bridal shower! While waiting for my sister to get done her pedicure I received an AMAZING all natural organic facial! My face has never felt so nourished! Marybeth was incredible and so gentle!! She made my first facial experience one that will bring me back for more! Was excited that a nail salon that proposed to use products not harmful to your nails and so close to work, but was so disappointed, I will NOT go back! I had booked a gel manicure not knowing there were different choices you could make. I was met with pretty much indifference and the basket of colors were dropped in front of me. No one explained different procedures or products they could use. I was told to go sit with the only non English speaking tech in the place and proceeded to try and explain what I wanted. I said I wanted "natural" polish. She clearly did not understand anything I said, proceeded to cut my nails short and put a white iridescent gel polish on me. The gel polish is already peeling off and it's not 2 weeks on yet. The fact that no one was friendly or welcoming made it a bad experience for me. Will not be fooled by them again. : ( read more

I drove all the way from Philly to try Nailplay. This is by far the smexiest (smart+sexy) nail studios I have ever been to! Between the decor, staff, and amount of color choices offered, I don't know how anyone would go anywhere else! I LOVE the fact that everything is organic. It shows that it's not just about making you look beautiful but feel good all while being good FOR you! The only thing that was hard was leaving! Nice manicurists, but they have poor time-management, communication, and customer service skills. I almost didn't go back after the first time because they were 45 minutes behind schedule and didn't communicate with me about what I needed/wanted. I had acrylic nails but they don't do those, so I got dip nails, whatever that is. It took over 90 minutes to soak off my acrylics. All in, it was 2 1/2 hours and $50, and the shiny top coat peeled off 4 of my nails within a week. I decided to give them another chance and went back for a pedicure and a refill of the dip powder. I made the appointment online, which they acknowledged via text, but when I got there they were running behind again. This time I waited an hour and 10 minutes for someone to run cold water into the tub for my pedicure. When the manicurist came over and we talked about the polish, she asked if I had regular or gel polish on my toes. When I said gel, she said she wished her boss had asked me earlier so I could have been soaking and ready to go. As for my nails, I said that the 1st time I was there, the one manicurist offered over 100 shades of dip powder colors, but today the owner said that only about 20 colors were available, none of which I liked. By this time, only 35 minutes were left of my 2 hours of metered parking (I couldn't park in the garage across the street because there was an event there), so I decided to just do a quick polish and forego the regular pedicure. And since I didn't want to get a parking ticket, I opted for the gel polish since they don't have any dryers for regular polish. I didn't want gel polish, but I needed to be able to put my socks and shoes on and leave ASAP. Of course, I couldn't get the manicure either. The last straw was that they charged me $50 for a polish change - and that was AFTER a so-called $10 discount - because the gel polish is more expensive. That was the last straw. very reasonably priced for the location and I agree with the first reviewer. The interior is really unique, black walls, lots of natural light (in fact no artificial lighting beyond the nail lamps) and very minimalist look. The receptionist offered water with lime when I came in and was choosing my color. I scanned their menu and they dont do any fancy nail designs but what they offer is a standard list of services and a very calming space (their pedicure stations are legitimately pretty) with organic *non-toxic* nail polish. I had been pretty upset when I learned the ingredients of regular polish actually has carcinogens and can even cause vision problems so I thought I was pretty much done with getting my nails done. So glad to have found this place! It was pretty empty at 5 on a Monday but given they're right in the business district and across from the PPL center, I predict they'll get quite the crowd as word gets out. read more

Booked an appointment after reading so many great reviews on many different sites. The salon is beautiful! Overall experience was not impressive. My appointment was for a pedi and I arrived 10 minutes early. When I checked in the receptionist insisted I booked a mani/pedi which I did not. Had to tell 3 different employees that I was there for a pedi. Had confirmation texts for pedi too. The tech finally took me for my service 15 minutes late. The salon was not busy at all, 3 techs and 1 receptionist. There were 4 clients including myself They do offer mimosas on Sundays. My service was generic. My polish was removed and she immediately trimmed and buffed my dry nails as well as pushed my cuticles back without my feet ever soaking. Great selection of organic nail polishes. The floor was dirty and I could see nail trimmings-disgusting! The service I chose was with the leg mask. Don't bother. It was applied and within 2 minutes removed with a warm towel. I've had better pedicures at walk in salons. Really expected something exceptional based on all the hype and price. Hope my polish lasts more than a week. read more
