This was my 3rd and final time going to Nailplay in about a 2 month time span. first appt (light pink sparkle), was a disaster and i left with sore nails, bleeding cuticles, polish around my fingers, and terribly uneven nails. the polish was incredibly streaky, the gel was bulbous, and thick. so much so that the underside of my nails were covered in liquid gel that would pop & snap off. my nails were sore for days. the curing process was painful, burning sensation under the light felt as if my nails were on fire. i shared this with the tech but she insisted that i put my hands back under the light. i told lynda about my experience during check out. 2nd appt, was discounted due to my experience the first time around. this appt was better but still not worth the price nor time. my nails were again uneven, gel polish around the corners chipped shortly after set was finished, polish again streaky. i did not plan on returning to NailPlay after 2 failed attempts. i had already decided to try out a different nail salon once it was time to get another fill. that was until Lynda called me and asked how the last appt (which she serviced me for) went & if i was happy with my result. she offered the next appt be free as a result of their poor performance. i was hesitant to accept the offer, so much so that i waited to call back and make the appt, ultimately i accepted the appt for sat dec 24 my 3rd & final experience at NailPlay (see red glitter nails) was by far the worst experience. this appt was free but it was a complete waste of time. i was under the impression that the this appt would be with Lynda (who did my second appt well enough & who offered the 3rd appt at a discount) but it was with Sunny. Sunny did not greet me, did not tell me to follow her to her station, i didn't even know when my nails were "finished" as she barely spoke to me. this has no relation to a potential language barrier. i did not want a full conversation but at a "hello/thank you/have a nice day" would have been nice. I requested solid red polish, and red glitter on top. she argued with me about the solid polish stating that the sparkle polish isn't clear. i know and understood, i still want red under the glitter. i had to convince her to listen to my requests multiple times (filing my nails straight, not curved, solid red polish then glitter, asking her to get the spots she missed with polish, the additional clear coat) the original red glitter i picked was visibly empty once she got the bottle. she was prepared to put the dry, crusty, glitter on my nails until i asked if there was another bottle of a similar color. She got another red polish No big deal, red glitter is red glitter, however, she should not have tried to use the crusty polish. that should have been discarded months ago by the looks of it. i asked for an additional coat of clear polish since the first coat, she obviously did not cover my entire nail. she said "this is just the first one" suggesting she would go and do a second coat... she did not, she only did a single swipe in the center of my nail (see pic 3). Im not sure if the polish wasn't completely cured or what the issue could have been because less than 24 hours later, my polish fell off in large chunks on my pointer and thumb. the lack of quality control is quite laughable. again this was a free appointment, but what good is a free, comped, & CORRECTIVE appointment if the finished product is simply unacceptable. a spent a 1.5 hours getting my nails "done" just for them to look worse than what they did going in. i'm genuinely curious if everyone here has their licenses... i've been getting my nails done for years. i've had my natural nails, acrylics, tips, and with NailPlay, liquid Gel... i am no stranger to the process. each tech i had (3 total) seemed to have different "techniques" and level of quality they produce. one thing that is consistent is the lack of care, cleanliness, and quality across the board. i do not understand how this place has so many positive reviews. my nails look worse now than they did going into the 3rd appointment. NailPlay owner(s): consider retraining your techs or hiring new ones all together, updating your cleaning procedures (individual files for each client, soaking tools in liquid, washing hands regularly), and relearning the basics and foundations of your craft. read more

I really wanted to love this place but the pedicure I received ended up falling flat. The space is great - open, modern, and great location. One wall has the pedicure stations, manicures on tables in the middle, the bar in the back, and the lounge waiting area. All of the staff was very friendly. They're still working on filling their nail polish wall. It's great that their polish is a special low chemical blend. Which was a selling point since I went with a group of friends, one who was pregnant. We all got pedicures and since it was Wednesday we received a complimentary glass of wine. Since my friend was pregnant with swollen ankles she was looking forward to an good exfoliation and rub (which I had mentioned when making the appointment). All of us felt that the exfoliating wasn't thorough and were left with dead skin still. My actual pedicure itself was clean and well applied. Two of my other friends' were a little messy with polish in their cuticles. We left with flip flops and toe dividers and want to Queen City where we sat and had drinks. Though we just sat there, almost all of us ended up with smudged polish. I wish they had a fan or light for drying the polish. I got a gel manicure here. The staff was friendly, but the manicure was bad and I could have done a better job at home. The nail shaping was uneven and inconsistent. I asked for a design and I wish she would have told me no instead of trying it because the lines were uneven and didn't end up looking like the reference picture. There was no consideration for wasting of my time/ abuse on nails/ soaking in more chemicals. Let me tell you about the awful experience my wife had today. She had a 4:15 appointment and showed up 10 minutes early. Per usual, they were busy and she had to wait 30 minutes past her appointment time to have her pedicure begin. Whatever. The appointment was for the signature pedicure. She got a woman who was new, inexperienced, or both. She got nothing outside of the standard pedicure and they almost skipped the massage entirely. The cherry on top was when two women came in late and bitched because they weren't sat right away so they pulled my wife's pedicurist away to work on them! Awful service, poor time management, zero acknowledgement of their shortcomings. Don't go here; save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Wow, what I great experience I had there today! Tina Quay did a dip color (3 colors) with tips for $50, which is a very reasonable price. She took her time perfecting every nail and was very thorough but also quick. The salon was very clean and neat. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing nail salon. It doesn't reek of nail polish and fumes which is rare to come by. Staff was very friendly and treated you as a friend. As far as colors and formulas go, they have a decent collection to choose from (they even offer organic polish). No acrylics. I spent a decent amount of time in the nail salon but it was because the technician paid good attention to detail. Nails came out pretty nice and strong considering I took off my acrylics. I had Jacqueline. FYI they offer wine Wednesday and mimosa Sunday's which is a plus. Wow! This area of Allentown was needing a nail salon and this place is a great addition! I stopped in opening day to see the beautiful space and get a pedicure. The service was great. You're greeted by a receptionist and there's comfy couches and chairs to wait for your nail technician to whisk you to the pedicure station. The space is bright and open and gets tons of sunlight - this place was well designed! You can choose between normal and organic nail polish so I opted to for the organic since I had never had it done before! The color pigment and shine were the same so I'd definitely consider doing it again! This place is so nice you have to check it out. It's a great departure from your standard nail salon but it's not so stuffy that it's intimidating a great mix of the two. I'm really happy this place opened up. Ok, this place is the best nail salon in the valley. First of all, the interior is so modern, clean, and comfortable. Awesome couches and set up, and they offer you complimentary drinks! Everything is organic so they only do regular or gel polish (no acrylics). My tech was Tana (spelling?) and she was fabulous. She did my eyebrows just perfectly, and did an awesome job on my nails. Don't bother making appts. So far the two times I've made an appointment they haven't actually started working on me for 20-30 minutes past. I like the people and the location but they get 3 stars for not being able to properly make and manage appointments. I've been to other nail places for dip powder manicures and have been in and out within 45 minutes to an hour and that includes the removal of the dip. My last appt. at Nailplay Studio I was there for almost 2 hours due to the fact that they were 30 minutes behind so I was getting my nails done for an hour and a half. Keep in mind that I didn't need removal and it wasn't a manicure, just dip powder and overall I was there for almost 2 hours. I will not be going back. read more

I had errands to run so when I realized I got done early and had too much time to kill, I called and asked them if they could get me in earlier. They were able to accommodate and I was very appreciate of that. This was my first time visiting this salon and I am from out of state. Compared to what services I receive in my home state of Nevada, Nailplay Studio was far cleaner, cheaper, and better manicure overall. I got a gel manicure. In and out just under and hour. My tech was very attentive to painting my nails perfectly. I have pretty short nails so she made sure to clean up all the over spills and gel that got on my fingertips.
