To protect staff ... it was a different location. But it's a training issue. I'm a regular here. Love the coffee, love the space, love the staff. This is the first time I've had a problem, and it's a big one. I ordered a quesito today and took a big bite before realizing the dough was raw. Not flaky, not crispy - stretchy and chewy. You could see it in the color and texture, and when I pulled it apart the dough stretched like it had never seen the inside of an oven long enough. I've been feeling sick since. I bake quesitos at home, so I know exactly what properly baked puff pastry looks and feels like. Baking times shift with humidity and temperature - that's just how it works. Somebody needed to check these before putting them out. When I flagged it, the staff said the texture was because "they are fresh and have cream cheese inside." No refund, no pulling the batch. But I want to be clear - I don't blame the people working the counter. If they haven't been trained to spot an underbaked product or handle a food safety concern, that's on management, not them. They were doing what they thought was right. I'm not upset about a mistake. I'm upset that there's no system in place to catch it or respond to it. I really do want to keep coming back - I just hope leadership takes this seriously. And I'd like my $8 back. read more

I've had 787 coffee before, once in Key West, another time in PR. Both experiences were pretty standard, but visiting 787 in SoHo had to be what solidified this as a great shop. The barista, Nico, was a mf delight! He provided recommendations, was very polite, and made sure to acknowledge you (even though he was working by himself). He made the experience pretty solid from beginning to end. My rum infused cold brew was to die for, the chocolate chunk cookie was a great pairing, and the location was quaint and quiet. Cute bright coffee shop doing espresso drinks and pour overs. Thompson St is lined with alternatives and 787 feels like sitting in someone's home kitchen with stools, chairs, benches and plants. They offer coffee drawn from three different roast of beans grown on a single estate in Puerto Rico. Who knows what that means, but the darkest (pour over with a shot added) was delish with a toasted cinnamon thing going on. read more

787 is a Puerto Rican cafe with multiple locations around the city. I've been to a couple now, and I love this place! This location in Soho is quite small - there's only one bench with a couple of small tables. They have so many unique drinks here, and they have different alcohol-infused coffee beans too. If you like their beans, they do sell bags of them, but just a warning that they are quite expensive. My boyfriend got the coquito latte, and I got the chocolate chip cookie. The latte was really good! It was sweet, but not too sweet, and the coffee flavor wasn't overpowering even though it comes with a double shot. I didn't know that it would come in a cute pouch, so that was a nice surprise! It seems like the iced drinks come in the pouch, and the hot drinks come in normal cups. I didn't have high expectations for the cookie, but this has actually become one of my favorite chocolate chip cookies in the city. It's a very thick cookie, and it has huge chunks of chocolate in it, which I love. We did have to wait a while for the coffee since there was a line, and there was only one person working there. But I appreciate how this place stands out from all the other coffee shops in the city, and it is now one of my go-to cafes! read more

The Iced Coquito Latte is absolutely delicious! Such a perfect blend of cinnamon, condensed milk and coconut. 10/10 recommend! I don't really like coffee flavor so I only requested 1 shot but it typically comes with a double shot. The place is really cute. They have seating if you want to stay for a bit. Cute bags for iced drinks! This was a regular latte. Honestly nothing too stand out and is pretty solid, but the shop is centered around beans from Puerto Rico. The bag gives it a better rating for me as it goes to presentation. Worth the price? Not sure either, it was $7, but makes sense since the beans are specifically imported. This place is so cute! I love the decorations it feels so cozy which is kind of rare for some NY coffee shops. The barista was friendly and made our coffees so quickly! I got the coquito latte and they gave it to me in a little pouch container which I found so cute and kept to maybe reuse one day.
