Avoid them. Both driver and dispatchers rude and trying to scam tourists. We were told that we could stop at a market to grab water for 5mins and that won't be included in the charge by the dispatcher. We maybe went a minute over and the driver asked for $4 more. I asked her about it and she said whatever the previous amount then. It was not about the money but about their behavior. The dispatcher messaged us after the trip that we should have given the money to the driver. I'm sure many of their livelihoods depend on this so politeness would go a long way. Their attitude made us feel really bad as we are on our honeymoon currently and we are also not the type of people to cheat hardworking people out of $4. My rating is for a number of reasons, the taxi was late, the driver was rude, and the taxi was more expensive than the shared shuttle vans, even when completely empty, and the follow up information was conflicting. It did however get me to where I needed. This review is only in relation to traveling between the ferry in Isabel and Esperanza. I called the morning of my trip, for two hours later. They confirmed that I would be picked up at 9:30am. I was out front at 9:25am and I actually had multiple people stop and ask me if I needed a ride from Esperanza to the ferry on Vieques, and the going rate was $10 for me to go. I decided to wait for my taxi, since I did not feel right to just leave, though they were already late. The taxi arrived at 9:40am. Okay, not too bad. Once he arrived, I knocked on the passenger window and it took me a while to confirm with the driver who they were trying to pick up. He wouldn't lower the window and just motioned for me to get in the car which is not something I am going to do without knowing who they are! Once he finally lowered his window and I confirmed he was there to pick me up, we were on our way. Once we arrived, I asked him how much it would be, and it was $15. This isn't a lot of money of course, but this is 50% over how much other people were going to charge me, and even though I would have had an entire shared van to myself! When I said this is a bit much, he told me that I should have asked how much it was. I also mentioned I probably wouldn't ride with this company again. He said, so don't. I did call afterwards though, and they told me it should have been $10. The lady said she would talk with her supervisor and contact me later. I actually followed up the next day since i I didn't hear anything, and was told that they raised their rates to $15. Regardless, I was now given conflicting information. So, rates were $10, he overcharged me, and they were trying to cover their butts, or it's always been $15, and I was just given the wrong information. Might be okay for groups, but if you're traveling alone, definitely just hail down a van since they come frequently, and they're much cheaper. From the ferry to Esperanza, it was only $5 in a shared van with others. When the vans offered to drive me back to the ferry, it was $10, since the van was empty. I won't ride with them again. I called them the day before and they took down the reservation, my phone number and set it all up. They called right at 8:15 a.m. to let me know the driver was coming and only a minute away. I am a local resident, and while my car has been in the mechanic, I've been using the taxi service. They are the best and most reliable on the island. All of the drivers are nice and charismatic person's. The service is great! And so is communication. If you ever need a ride call 741-TAXI! highly recommend. Let me start by saying that I rarely leave reviews for anything, perhaps because I am simply selfish with my time(could be true). I am compelled to leave a review for 741 taxi because of the discrepancy I have observed on Yelp between the "average" 3 star rating they have received overall, and what I feel they deserve. First, a few important things to know about Vieques: 1. It is a very small island with only a few taxi companies. 2. It is a very tourism-dependent island, which means that high seasons are extremely busy. 3. Given the above points, if you are expecting NYC-style efficiency, do not come to Vieques. If you cannot manage 15 minutes of flexibility, you should not use a taxi in Vieques at all. Now that I have mentioned this, here is the reality of 741taxi: 1. I used them 10 times in 3 days, and they were no more than 15 minutes late for ANY pickup. He dispatcher even called me to tell me that they would be late. Did I care about getting picked up from the beach 15 minutes late? Not at all. 2. Each day, I would call 741 taxi and tell them my plans for the next day. The dispatcher made sure all my pick ups and drop offs happened like clock work. Excellent. 3. Initially, when scheduling my trips, I would call and ask for the rates as well. Once I became comfortable with the rates (very reasonable prices), I would simply prepay in advance. Despite the variety of different drivers, no one every asked me to pay for something I had prepaid for. Very nice. Look, I know that all of us go on vacation to be pampered and taken care of. I am no different. I was compelled to write this review not only because of the negative reviews I saw written about 741, but because of the mentality of many tourists I met in Vieques. In conclusion, I will reiterate the important points: 1. If you are someone who will complain of a taxi does not pick you up within 60 seconds of the agreed-upon time, rent a car and figure out the island yourself. 2. If you are someone who will complain if a driver cannot take you 30-minutes in the opposite direction on New Year's Eve because you changed your mind at the last moment, rent a car. 3. If you do not ask how much a trip will cost before starting it, and you don't call dispatch if there is a misunderstanding between you and the driver, you will be happier renting a car. If, however, you want professionalism, clean cars, relative punctuality, fair pricing, and don't want to have to drive yourself all over the place, then 741 taxi is absolutely the best option in Vieques. read more

We stayed on the Island of Vieques for 1.5 days and used this taxi service 5 times 3x$5 during our stay. Manny was our driver most of the time, great young man, gave us many suggestions on what to see. The taxi took us to get us to our hotel, to and from a beautiful small sacluded beach, to sun beach and back to the ferry right in time. They were very professional and awesome. My husband accidentally left something in the taxi, I called dispatch and she contacted Emma (the driver) who ran through the terminal looking for us to return it....such a life saver!!!! Me and two friends vacationing in Vieques were fortunate enough to receive 741taxi recommendation from our hotel. We called as soon as we landed in the small but quaint airport and greeted by a driver named Eddy in about 15 minutes. The jeep was very clean (cleaner than NYC taxi even?) and Eddy was very talkative, friendly and offered great advice about where to go and eat on the island. This is a small island and naturally a small taxi company as well so do not be surprised if the taxi takes a little more than 15 minutes to show up especially during the evenings. My best advice would be to call in advance. Fares are extremely reasonable too. On our last day on the island, we asked Eddy to drive us to the airport. We mentioned that I had a later flight than my friends and in a matter of seconds Eddy was on his cell phone. Turns out that his wife works at the airport and they were able to put me on the same flight with my friends. Above and beyond customer service here! Muchas Gracias! Like I've mentioned in other reviews, you need to have a couple of Taxi Company's ph# in your wallet. When things get busy later evening it's tough to get a ride back to your hotel. We used their service twice. The first time he was parked on the street and said the person he was there to pick up never showed. So we hopped in and got a very nice-safe ride back to the hotel. 5 bucks per person. Standard fair. The 2nd time it was about a 10 minute wait- they had actually answered the phone-. We had called for a cab, they arrived earlier, took someone else instead of us. We re-called and fortunately they had someone close and available. One thing about this company is that they just don't answer the phone when things get busy - so you need to go to your 2nd, 3rd, 4th service to find a ride. read more

tldr i would not use them again - no issues with the ride from the airport, they were there waiting for me and the driver was friendly (flat $15 i think - no issues when i took short rides within esperanza - but had issues trying to get rides to the north side of the island or any beaches because they would say they didnt have any cars / wouldnt go that far / or would give me wait time and arrive fifteen minutes on top of that time, or send an unmarked car/van to pick up instead of one of their fleet and not inform me - last straw: tldr they were late for an ride to the airport and had i not called them four times they wouldnt have realized their driver never came to pick me up - i prescheduled airport transport the day before - they were picking up someone else at 6 and would be at my place at 6:05 for a 7:30 flight. At 6:15 I called them four times before they answered and said that the driver was already at the airport and never stopped by my pickup point. for an airport transport this is unacceptable - the fact that there was no confirmation between driver and dispatch like yep i picked everyone up or even dispatch to just send separate cars since we are all paying full price anyway. they claim i wont miss my flight but i am still waiting at 6:30 for the new car theyre sending. honestly just rent a car or golf cart (and do so ahead of time) - i booked this trip last minute so everything was already sold out on a thursday night before a weekend trip. if you need to use taxis, just use one of the other companies read more

Don't waste your money. We called for an early morning pickup for the ferry - not only did they arrive 35 minutes late, they still had another pickup to do! By way of "apology", we got a lecture about how this wasn't their fault, because the island was used for bombing for many years and the government does nothing to help them, and this was actually our fault, since we weren't patient enough. Funny, no one else on the island seemed to have trouble running a business professionally... I first used 741TAXI back in the end of September. I called 741TAXI at about 8PM to see if they could give me a ride to the ferry dock to catch the first passenger ferry the following morning. They were very courteous and made the arrangements. The taxi showed up on time, bright and early the next morning. I was given a ride from Esparanza to the ferry dock on the other side of the island. The fare was very reasonable. Eddy (driver) was very friendly and fun to chat with. Since my personal experience with 741 TAXI, I have begun recommending them to tourists that I deal with through work. So far we have had nothing but great experiences with them. I often times deal with Letti (owner?) and she is a total sweetheart! Pros: Clean, friendly service. Clean taxis. Reliable. Reasonably priced. Where to begin. Well you can get the number to drivers and have them charge you the standard rate for car rides. Which is the same rate this taxi service will charge you. We prepayed a round trip and we asked them to pick us up at midnight. Instead of sending a driver out to pick us up they sent a shuttle. Two individuals went to the restroom and instead of waiting the driver left us stranded in the other side of the island at midnight. No drivers are available at that time. We had to call our hotel and they were nice enough to find us a taxi. When I called the next day the owner said it was my fault and we didn't deserve to get our money back. When I told her she left us on the other side of the island she said "oh that's fine." All in all grab an individual drivers number and ask him to take you where you need to go and if make reservations if you can call him late night. There is no standard price for this taxi its just based on who talks on the phone and who picks you up. Me and my wife wanted to go to a beach and were charged $15 per person and she (Di Di) collected our $60 for round trip soon after we reached the beach. The next couple of times we took the taxi we were charged $15 for both of us. We were kind of surprised at how the service is being run without any standard price. I think few people in the taxi service are bringing disgrace to the entire 741TAXI team. I would advice everyone to rent a car if you are staying for more than a day. read more

They are the most professional drivers in the island. From the well identified and clean kept jeep wrangler taxis to the courteous drivers. All are uniformed and we'll informed. Prices are $10. To 90% if places but they will go to the most remotest beaches and places where the other taxi companies do not not the publicos. Suggested by a coworker before we left for our trip and we were so glad... We didn't want to rent a jeep in the island and were very fortunate... They called us while in Ceiba to confirm our flight and arrived promptly at the airport to pick us up. We also used them to go to the Melacon, Caracas Beach, the small fort in town, Rompe Olas for snorkeling (there and back) and Bio tour we had scheduled one night. Always prompt and curteous and very happy with their dispatch (very attentive)... I see some negative reviews here but I wonder since there are always two sides to every story. Did they offered less money upon arrival? Were rude to the driver(s)? Their prices were fair (usually per person and a minimum of $10). I inquire why their taxis were always so cleaned and spotless. One driver explained they clean and detail the taxis sometimes twice a day (which means out of service for an hour losing about $100 each time) but they want to impress the clients. Also, some beaches are a little more expensive for that reason. They bring them to clean all the sand out before the dinner rush. I was totally impressed at how they pay attention to things we tend to disregard. read more
