There's two ways to look at the situation…read more 1. Be pissed at myself and embarrassed that I lived less than a mile from this place for 3 1/2 years and had no clue it was there and how good / cool the place and owner (Tim) is. Or 2. Just be super grateful that I finally learned about it and have gone there twice in the last four days. There are options all over the place to get coffee and a bite to eat, but there aren't places like this with culinary elevation in the flavors of the food and next level ingredients and taste in the coffee creations. The vibe is right as the music has been rad. Order ahead if you're in a crazy hurry. Otherwise well, order be a little patient because incredible things are never instantaneous.. This is where I'm spending my money for coffee and culinary delight. The pictures aren't great, but the food and drink sure is!

They have Hawaiian-inspired food along with breakfast sandwiches and other options. The atmosphere is what really sets it apart. Tim plays vinyl records, there's Bob Ross and Snoopy memorabilia around the shop, and there's a mix of couches and dining tables. It's eclectic, comfortable, and very homey--not your typical coffee shop. While I was waiting for my coffee, Tim actually said to me, "Make yourself at home." And that really sums up the whole place. Great coffee, great food, great music, and a place where you actually want to hang out for a while. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband had the regular donuts and loved them, along with the coffee. This place is legit. This used to be one of our favorite donut places, but something felt a little different this time…read more I am not sure if they changed their recipe or if it was just this particular batch. We ordered the Boston Cream, Boysenberry, Cinnamon Crumble, Buttermilk Old Fashioned, and Blueberry Lemon. The Boston Cream was one of my favorites. The yeasted dough was delicious, almost like a brioche dough, though I am not sure if that is actually what they use. It was soft, rich, and had a great texture. The cream filling itself was a little underwhelming, but I would still get this one again. The Boysenberry was also really good. It had that nice cakey texture without being overly dry or crumbly. The Cinnamon Crumble looked amazing, but the texture was surprisingly "bouncy." I could not quite figure it out. It almost tasted like a cross between a cake donut and a yeasted donut. Nothing was necessarily wrong with it, but that texture was not my favorite. The Buttermilk Old Fashioned was probably the most dependable of the bunch. It had a nicely balanced hint of nutmeg that made it taste nostalgic and familiar. Sometimes you just want a classic donut that delivers exactly what you expect, and this one did. The Blueberry Lemon was a little bland this time. We have ordered it before, and both of us felt that the texture of their cake donuts seemed different from what we remembered. Still a good donut shop with some excellent choices, but this visit did not quite reach the level we remembered from previous visits. A 4/5 for us this time.

Had such a great brunch experience at Ramos House Cafe in San Juan Capistrano!…read more We went for their weekend brunch, which is a set menu where you choose a small plate and a large plate. The restaurant is located right on Los Rios Street, the historic street in San Juan Capistrano, so you're right in the heart of the cutest part of town. The space is really charming -- it's outdoors but covered, with lots of plants and rustic details that make it feel cozy and unique. Our server was also so sweet and helpful throughout the meal. And the food was really good. For my small plate, I got the fava bean treat, which was kind of like a little salad with bread and a fava bean spread on the side. I didn't really taste the black truffle part. The large plate was the roasted vegetable hash, and this was definitely my favorite. It was seasoned so well and had so many different grilled vegetables packed into it. The fried poached egg was also fantastic! The only part I'd probably skip next time is the tomato foam, but that's mostly because I'm not a huge fan of foams in general. The brunch is $49 per person, so it's definitely more of a splurge, but you do get a good amount of food and I thought the quality was really impressive. There's decent parking nearby, or you can try to find street parking around town and walk over, although weekends can make that a little challenging. Overall, such a cute space, great service, and really delicious food. It's a fun spot for a special brunch, especially if you want to spend some time walking around Los Rios Street afterward!

It's so nice to eat outside with the warm weather and mission nearby. We started with the Bloody Mary and Martini for brunch. The Bloody Mary came with pickled green beans and a shrimp it was simple and good, and the martini had a perfect balance of coffee flavor without being too sweet. The Huevos Ranchero and Crab Hash with the side of citrus creme fraiche on the side was well balanced, light and refreshing! The overall experience was a great way to start the day of exploring in the Mission area! If you're making a day trip in Southern California San Juan Capistrano I highly recommend taking the train and making a day trip to the area, and of course starting brunch at the Ramos House! Note that the house is a historical location and the eatery is on their patio area.

Staff; Everyone here was so nice. From the hostess, to our…read moreserver, to the woman in the boutique they were great. Quality: This spot is absolutely beautiful. It is a previous residence that was converted into a tea house. My loved ones have been here several times over the years but it was my first time. The food and tea were very good. I had the Farmhouse Scramble and it was heavenly. One thing I noticed was the flavor. They really focus on the seasoning so that each bite is flavorful. My guests got the salmon that was flaky and delicious. Also the sandwich plate that is was lite and tasty. Lastly the quiche which was also very tasty. Value: It is not cheap but that is okay. The quality of the food, services and amazing ambiance make it well worth the cost. Overall: This was a really cool experience and place to celebrate a birthday for my loved one. I really recommend trying this amazing spot. Pro tip: If you are planing for a specific day be sure to book early. I'm talking weeks in advance.

Very disappointing experience and terrible customer service…read more When we arrived, we were told we had to wait for the rest of our party before we could sit at the table. We waited 40 minutes with a 2-year-old child and were not allowed to sit at the table, offered water, shade, or anything else. It was almost 104°F (40°C) that day. After we were finally seated outside, there was no fan. We asked four different servers if they could bring one because the heat was unbearable, especially for our baby, and every time we were refused with an excuse. The menu was also confusing, with many different categories and prices, so we asked our server to explain it. Her explanation only made things more confusing, and we ended up ordering more options than we originally intended. Honestly, I felt the way the menu was explained was designed to confuse us into ordering more. I also ordered a carrot cake for my 2-year-old shortly after we sat down. We waited and never received it. Since it never came, I assumed the server had canceled the order. When I was already signing the bill to leave, the server finally came with the cake and a box and said, "I totally forgot to bring it." I refused the cake because we were leaving. She spoke to the manager and came back saying the manager refused to cancel the order and take the cake back to the kitchen. I still had to pay for it and take it home. There were six of us, and we paid around $470 for tea pots, scones, and a few other treats. I will attach the $330 receipt for three of us and a baby so you can see what we were charged for. The worst part was the complete lack of basic customer care, especially toward a small child in extreme heat. This was one of the worst customer-service experiences I have had. It honestly felt like the money mattered more to them than the customers. My advice: AVOID THIS PLACE. I would absolutely not recommend it to anyone, and I would never return. There are plenty of other places where you can spend your money and actually be treated with basic respect and consideration.
