On a Sunday morning in July, I made a visit to Fig Tree Coffee for a coffee drink. I found myself…read morein the Crafton area, and wanted to visit a local shop. Fig Tree Coffee is a newer coffee shop located in Crafton, right by the elementary school. They serve hot coffee, iced coffee, espresso drinks, tea, chai, and more. In addition to drinks, there are some food options available, along with gift-type items. Directly in front of the building, there is street parking available. There is also a private lot located to the left of the entrance for the entire building. The signage in the windows identifying the business makes it easy to locate. Fig Tree is truly a community coffee shop. It has plenty of seating, and proudly displays pieces of the community it serves. They have a bulletin board with local businesses, community events, and other information. Patrons seem to get their items and utilize the space to hang out and socialize. It is nice to see a place like this being utilized as intended! I stopped here around 8:45 AM, and it was not too crowded. There were a few other patrons in the building and in line ahead of me, but I only had to wait a few minutes to order my drink. It can be sort of overwhelming to try and order here, since the menu is so bare and there are not a ton of "special" drinks advertised. However, the baristas and staff will make anything you really are wanting, so I would not worry about this! They have different flavorings and combinations, you just need to ask or make a combination that you want to try when ordering. The barista that helped me on this visit was lovely. I was not exactly sure what I wanted, so I asked what she typically would order or make for herself. She ended up making me that exact drink in a 16 OZ Iced Drink. I enjoyed getting to try something different that I would not have picked for myself! Service was quick. I was in and out with my coffee in about 7 minutes, and that included waiting in line and taking a minute to order. The prices here are reasonable, and in line with what other local coffee shops are charging for similar products. They do accept both cash and card here, just FYI. I did not purchase any food or pastries, but the coffee prices were right in line with expectations. The vibe of this place is very cool, with a true community cafe feel. I love that they highlight their community. Not only with the people and events, but they even with a wall of Polaroids of the dogs that visit the shop! I even had a dog in line in front of me, so they are dog-friendly here. I give Fig Tree Coffee a positive review, and do recommend giving the shop a try if you find yourself in Crafton or the West End. It is a newer shop, but already has great ambiance and community presence. The staff are friendly, drinks are tasty, it is dog-friendly, and it is a great space to hang out or get some work done. I look forward to future visits to Fig Tree when I find myself in the area.

Amazing place with great, cozy ambiance and seating area to grab a drink and a little snack too!…read more The barista was really helpful, and their Pumpkin Spice Latte was lovely to sip, though the flavor wasn't very strong. They source their baked goods from BB & Burr, and wow, they never disappoint! The chocolate chip scone was perfectly flavored and crumbly, can never go wrong with them. Overall, it's a great local spot that's part of the community and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

You place your order on a touch screen and everything is cashless except a cake they had on the counter for $5. My friend wanted to purchase the cake, but they didn't have the ability to ring her up for it with her card. Neither of us had cash on us and the sweet woman behind the counter gave my friend the cake and said, "stop by whenever you have the cash." She was so nice. I ordered the mango sticky rice because it sounded intriguing. I've never had it before and I didn't really know what to expect. The textures were good for me: chewy, some chunks of mango, saucy. I just thought whatever syrupy mango sauce/jam they put on top is way too sweet for my personal preference. I had a few bites and brought the rest home. I'll probably use the mango sticky rice as a plain greek yogurt topping.

I actually used to go to all the Coffee Tree Roasters locations quite regularly as they were the standard for coffee for me. For whatever reason though, I had stopped going and so I was interested to see how it stacked up. The inside of this shop is clean with a bunch of different tables to sit at, some merchandise on the back wall and then a refrigerator case near where you place your order. For my coffee on this morning I didn't see any of the holiday specials that I was looking for and so ultimately decided to go with a peppermint latte while my wife went with a peppermint mocha. My peppermint latte here left a lot to be desired unfortunately. The peppermint syrup was too strong and so my coffee sort of tasted like toothpaste with an aftertaste of coffee. Even if the coffee tasted good, which it did, as you might imagine the whole drink itself wasn't ideal. The one good thing is that my wife did enjoy her coffee drink here. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While I wasn't a big fan of my coffee here, I know they definitely have better stuff.

Orbis is well known for its dirty chai, so we grabbed an iced dirty chai latte and a vanilla oatmilk latte (our constant to rank the passport cafes). We couldn't resist the display of pastries, so we also grabbed the quiche of the day (chicken & mushroom quiche), an apricot white chocolate oatmeal cookie, and their also well known.. chocolate cinnamon bread pudding. The coffee was solid. I love that they offer to serve it in real glasses and mugs... there is something so relaxing about not drinking out of paper and plastic. The food will make us come back. The quiche had such a flaky crust and they heat it up just right. The cookie had chunks of dried apricot with white chocolate chips and the rolled it in sugar for the extra crunch. The flavor combinations were original and that BREAAD PUDDDINGG. Unless you are allergic to flavor and fun.. you should do whatever you can to go get this! They have two unisex bathrooms down the back hallway. Trust me.. choose left lol. The seating is spacious with lots of room and all sorts of options from cozy couches, posh bar area, and what felt like laptop row of professionals enjoying a coffee and doing work. I plan to visit again and update my review after my second experience. I have visited this place three more times, and unfortunately I noticed a clear difference in how customers are treated. The friendliness and attitude of the staff seem to change depending on the person. In my last visits, no one even greeted me, while many other customers were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere and the taste are good, but for me, customer service is more important than both. Because of this experience, I don't think I will be coming back again.

If you're not starting with a quality product you're not going to get a quality end product. If I'm treating myself, I really like when the drinks are special and thoughtful, and they are always thinking through the menu with a rotating selection of interesting, often themed drinks that offer something for every taste. I love how they partner with other local businesses including 19 Coffee Company, Pastries A La Carte, and Becca Bakes. In addition to these pastries there are some light bites such as sandwiches available. They have space to feature some local makers of things like jewelry and once I even bought a little painting created by a dog here to support the dog's medical treatment. That's the kind of local establishment you're dealing with and it's why I love them. All of this and I haven't even gotten to how cozy this place is. The decor is thoughtful with lots of room to sit and work or relax. There's a little book nook area, an outdoor patio, and spaces by the window where you can people watch out Brookline Blvd. The people are always super nice. It's a great choice for your neighborhood coffee shop.
