Top 3 reasons to shop at Fresh Market on Harrison:…read more 1) The employees are super helpful, amazing people. 2) The spicy corn salad in the deli case. Seriously. 3) Due to what I assume is a lack of demand in the area, you can find the most amazing things in the manager's special case in the meat department. My finds include halibut, Norwegian lox, and lobster tails. The biggest downside is that the selection is a bit limited. You can get almost everything, but I've had to go elsewhere for ingredients such as celery root or glass noodles (but, in all honesty, that's pretty demanding of me, no?). That said, I love the customer service here, and the aforementioned corn salad, so this is our grocery store of choice.

There are a few employees who have gotten to know me and are friendly. Customer service is hit or miss, but they do try! The store is always clean and has great variety. I wish we had another NG in Ogden as this one is small. We are regulars and love the coupon program and their non-freaky chickens and poultry. Can taste the difference. Hope they can stick around!

They actively discourage having good relationships and rapport with loyal customers. Half of the children working there just stand around and talk amongst themselves, while knowing nothing about their products or about nutrition/health. It's obvious why they have such a high turnover rate, even amongst store managers. Don't shop here if you're a gregarious or extroverted person who enjoys building friendships with clerks they see often.

They post competitor prices so you can see the value - They have bulk food bins which are nice if you don't need a ton of things like herbs, spices, etc. Very large selection of items in the bulk bins. - Store is larger than most grocery stores so selection is really decent. - Nice butcher shop with good selection of cuts. Also fresh seafood in the counter Cons: - You are bagging your own groceries. Not a deal breaker, but 'meh.' - They do not take credit cards, only debit cards or cash. Inconvenient if you are expensing things. - Product selection seems smaller than other stores.

Poor customer service. Management does not seem to care about addressing customer concerns. When I…read morecalled about an issue, I was told the self-checkout attendant couldn't assist customers because they had to keep all of their attention on monitoring self-checkout for theft. Meanwhile, only three or four regular checkout lanes were open, and several employees appeared to be standing around instead of helping customers. It seems there is little emphasis on customer service. If I worked there, I would gladly open another register and treat honest, paying customers the way they deserve to be treated. Good customer service encourages customers to return, and unfortunately, that was not my experience.

First, the bad. The prices are high and the selection is small. I attribute both to the fact that…read morein Ogden, there is a limited market of people looking for specialty foods in the area, so this is a necessity to stay in business. Now for the good: Good Earth is so helpful and knowledgeable. Also, they WILL not sell you an item simply to make money. They genuinely care about their customers and run their business to provide specialty foods to people that need them. We went to the store looking for gluten free chili powder. When we asked the manager, she came to the aisle with us and read the ingredients on the bottle. There was no gluten listed, but she went one step further and called every one of her distributors to double-check. Turns out that there is cross-contamination in the factories, and none of her chili powder products are gluten free. This saved us from potentially sickening a family member with Celiac Disease, so we were super grateful. Because of this experience, we trust the manager's knowledge and expertise in specialty foods immensely. Because of their integrity and willingness to help us out, we will spend our extra money there. We have been to other natural food stores in the area and experienced sales people who pushed specialty foods that weren't appropriate for our needs and supplements that were not properly researched. Now, in all fairness, a few of the books at Good Earth have advice and information that I would question, having done my own literature reviews of healthcare journals (but seeing that supplementation and naturopathy are not regulated, it should be the responsibility of the consumer to research what they purchase), but outside of that, by and large, this is the BEST and MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE natural food store I have been to. Double kudos because, as I stated above, they are not interested in selling products that will not fit their customers' needs, and will go above and beyond to keep their consumers safe. In our opinion, well worth the bit of extra money to help out a fantastic business in northern Utah.
