We were on our way to visit my MIL for Mother's Day. We accidentally missed the 71 on-ramp since…read morethey changed it recently and we don't drive to the area very often. I decided I needed to take a detour to a coffee shop since we already kinda got lost. Deep Barrel Roasters & Creamery, is located in a small and old strip mall in old town Norco. Or at least I think it is. I'm not familiar with the area. I can tell you though, that navigation had us driving through newer developments and then the old part of Norco before we finally arrived. I thought we got even more lost at first. The place was actually pretty packed inside and after having our drinks and pastries, I can totally see why. The first half of the building is the cafe where you'll be greeted with some cute and funny coffee signs. There's two large shelves full of their own coffee beans of different roasts. They have a few small tables to sit and enjoy your orders, but note it is a bit of a tight fit in there. They also have a coffee bar where some people sat in front of the baristas. Past the cafe side is the creamery. I was in a rush and didn't have a chance to take a look. What we ordered; 1) Hot Mocha Rocha with soy milk - 5/5 stars. I forgot to ask for this as half sweet, but either way, it was absolutely delicious. Rich and very flavorful. 2) Iced Mocha Rocha - 5/5 stars. Just as delicious as the hot version. 3) pistachio muffin - 3/5 stars. This muffin had a generous amount of actual pistachio baked into the muffin itself which I liked, however, the muffin had more of an artificial pistachio flavor for me. I still ate it but I wasn't in love with that one. 4) chocolate croissant - 5/5 stars. This was such a hit, we ran out right away. Everyone in our group attacked these so fast. I have to say, I am SAD that I live so far from Deep Barrel Roasters & Creamery. They have a lot of pastries, ice cream including deep fried ice cream, and beverages. I absolutely loved this place and look forward to visiting them again. Next time, I for sure will grab a dozen or more to share with the family and bring some home, and we will definitely grab some frozen treats too. Deep Barrel, is a gem. Norco, sure is lucky to have them. They are a must if you are ever in the area.

I went a Friday at around 3:30 pm so it wasn't busy at the time. There's plenty of parking spots available. There was ample seating both inside and outside. Free WiFi was also available with the information available right at the table. There's not a restroom within the store but it's a brief walk outside. When browsing their menu, I was particularly interested in their coffee flight. However, I didn't think I'd had enough time to enjoy that so I got their light roast drip coffee. It took about 5 minutes for this to be ready. Coffee was insanely hot but this was to be expected since it was a fresh batch. It was some strong coffee and even kept me up later that night lol. Overall, it was a nice discovery. I liked the atmosphere of the shop. I was able to get some reading done since it wasn't too loud. There was a lot of natural lighting coming through the windows. It's a great place for those that wanna study. American Express is accepted here.

It's honestly not far at all from my appointments, and the staff here is always so kind and welcoming. They answer questions, greet you when you walk in, and overall just create such a good vibe. I always let them know that I have celiac disease, and I appreciate that they actually listen and try to take the necessary precautions. Of course, eating out is never 100% safe when you have celiac, especially in a shared facility with gluten products, and there's always a risk of cross-contamination anywhere you go. But it's still really nice when places take you seriously and do their best to help you safely enjoy something. I love that they carry a variety of gluten-free pastries and treats. This time I picked up the pandan cookie, the ube cookie, the mint chocolate chip cookie, and the chocolate toffee crisp cookie. They also usually carry gluten-free banana bread, although they didn't have it this visit. I also noticed some protein/date ball type snacks, but I didn't try those yet. Most of their gluten-free cookies are individually wrapped, which I really appreciate. They do have some displayed in a shared pastry container section, although they are kept separate and not touching the regular pastries. Just something to keep in mind if you're highly sensitive. They partner with KJ Gluten Free Cookies, which seems to be a smaller startup business. They are not certified gluten free, but from what I've seen and experienced, they do appear to take precautions to keep things gluten free. If you want to check them out or learn more about their products, their Instagram is @k.j.sglutenfreecookies. Their cookies do contain milk and eggs, though. I may be lactose intolerant and have a mild egg allergy, but honestly I hit the trifecta at this point I keep my Benadryl and Lactaid with me because if I find something gluten free while eating out, I'm going to enjoy it when I can. Eating out with food restrictions is already hard enough. The inside is also super cute and cozy. I love the seating setup with the tables, stools, comfy chairs, and overall atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can sit down with a drink, pastry, or even do homework for a while. The customer service has always been great at both the Norco and Corona locations, and the staff always seem friendly and happy to help. I genuinely just love the vibe here every time I stop by after my appointments.

The parking here is a little tough, there's plenty of parking but they're also next to a starbucks drive through so watch out for that if you park in that 1 way lane. It's a bit disorganized inside for pick up. I was told to wait around the corner, but there's no space as people are exiting from paying at the register. It got a little confusing and cramped. Ordered chilaquilies - 3/5 would not recommend ordering for pick up as the chips get soggy fast. Other than that it was okay, plenty of pork. Corned beef hash 3/5 - solid nothing crazy Oreo pancake 3/5 tasted like you'd expect. It's a decent brunch spot, but gets super packed with tough parking. But like a hungry phoenix rising from the ashes, I pivoted to a turkey croissant sandwich and a taro milk tea with boba--and wow, am I glad I did! First things first: this is a true mom-and-pop shop, so you definitely need to support them. Just be prepared to sweat for the cause. There are exactly two benches inside, and the AC situation is non-existent. Think of it as a free sauna session with your meal! Let's talk about this sandwich. For the price, it is an absolute steal. They did NOT skimp on the turkey; I'm talking a Thanksgiving-level mountain of meat. It came loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, raw onions, raw jalapeños (hello, spicy crunch!), mayo, mustard, and a wild-card splash of Italian dressing. Sounds chaotic? Maybe. Tasted incredible? Absolutely. To wash it down, the taro milk tea was perfection. The boba was warm, perfectly chewy, and exactly what I needed to cool down from the meat sweats (and the actual sweats). Support local businesses! I will 100% be back
