Out of the blue the cashier (a black lady with blonde died hair who served me hundreds of times) asked me for my ID: She NEVER did that before. It just happened that my DL expired a few days ago, in January 2021 so she refused to give me cigarettes and the bottle of wine. I'm 62 years old and only someone blind wouldn't notice that. What she did was a clear display of racism (I'm white while she is black), unless she's mentally unstable.

I think you are supposed to stick the lollipop in the toilet bowl to get the sugar then suck on it. I don't know why a kid would want that, but sitting next to the incense, knock-off cologne, and ornate Zippo's, it is just the sort of peculiar merchandising strategy that intrigues me. They recently installed pay-at-the-pumps which means I probably won't be going inside as often. Which is a shame because the owners/clerks are very nice and friendly. They are also very cooperative with our neighborhood association in dealing with the aggressive vagrants in the area. Unlike the neighboring Shell station, the Texan doesn't provide the vagrants a safe harbor from the police, won't sell alcohol to intoxicated persons, and if they notice one of the panhandlers harassing people, they will intervene or call the police. They also try hard to keep their lot clean and free of trash. So in short, when I need to make a quick stop, I choose the Texan. Clean, friendly, safe, and cheap!

If you're in the mood for some fried chicken or pizza they do have a kitchen which serves that up. They do have a small table inside and two more outside in case you'd like to dine there. Their gas prices were reasonable and they also sell propane tanks. This store is definitely worth stopping at and the photos below confirm it.

They have a good wine selection along with 23 refrigerated doors of drinks. You'll also find an ATM, cold and frozen drink stations. Things I did not find are an iced down beer trough, state of the art coffee station and weenie rollers. I also did not spot any propane tanks to rent. Definitely a great place to stop in the morning for gas and pick up some breakfast tacos to go or dine in. Plenty of photos included for greater insight.
