    Fresh honeycomb

We took a class here and loved the experience. The owner was so knowledgeable and passionate, and really friendly about answering questions. We enjoyed the different samples we tried, including fresh honeycomb harvested day of! I ended up buying a jar of the honey I liked most in the gift shop, and while I will say I've never spent so much on raw honey (even at the farmer's market) it was super delicious and good quality.

    Headed to the middle apiary!

Outstanding educational tour on a super cool site. Personal experience with friendly, knowledgeable keepers. The hive tour is worth the cost!

We tasted the honey right from this hive!

I really enjoyed my experience at Two Hives Honey this weekend! There were about a dozen of us in the group, including several children, and we were all treated to a delicious breakfast snack with juice and coffee, an interesting presentation about The Secret Life of Bees, and (the most fun part!) a walk to the nearby hives, where we were invited to get up close and personal with hundreds of honeybees! Suited up in protective gear and gloves, we were oblivious to the bees who flew around our heads and we each took turns holding the frames and even got to taste a spoonful of honey right out of the hive! The only suggestion I have for Two Hives is to manage correspondence more carefully. My husband made my reservations, so they communicated with him via his email address. I asked that they switch communication to me since I would be going to Austin and needed to be updated on the weather. However, they continued to email him with the information, so I was calling, leaving messages, and emailing to determine whether we were going to have the class because of impending rain. Anyway, give it a try! We all had a blast and I've recommended it to my friends, who are considering becoming beekeepers themselves!

Such a cute place with super knowledgeable staff! I felt safe the entire time and they taught us SO MUCH about bees!

I went on a hive tour with Two Hives Honey at Texas Keeper Cider and had so much fun! Sam, the beekeeper who gave the tour, shared a lot of interesting info about bees before getting us suited up and taking us to the hive. She passed around frames from inside the hive and pointed out comb with honey, nectar, and brood. She showed us the difference between drones and worker bees. At the end, everyone got a honey sample straight from the comb. The tour also came with snacks and a drink ticket. I'd never been out to Texas Keeper Cider before. They have a ton of outdoor seating with live oaks all around and a small bar inside with cozy seating. Highly recommend!

Honey straight from the hive and into my belly! Yum!

Tara is extremely knowledgeable about all things "bee!" I went on a bee tour recently and learned so much about how hard each bee works in its short lifetime to provide us with honey. I have never been stung by a bee, so I was a little apprehensive at first about the tour. Tara provides all the proper gear and helped everyone feel at ease before even heading to the hives. The bees were content and focused on their jobs and didn't seem to even notice we were there. It was a great experience. I highly recommend booking a tour to learn more about bees, get over a fear of bees, or "bee" inspired to become a beekeeper yourself!

After our hive tour, we picked up our pre-purchased honey fight which had samples of various honeys harvested on the farm.

It's not recommended to go on the tour when it's raining, and when it's too hot or cold outside. We had to reschedule twice due to weather but we finally made it out there and it was a lot of fun learning about bees, their importance to the world and seeing them up close. We all enjoyed the hands on experience being in the bee hits offered us! Standing in the middle of bees flying around, not angrily, and see how they work together was breathtaking. Becky, one of the staff members, scheduled our tour and led our honey taste testing. She was the sweetest lady and took the time to learn all of our names. Becky's husband, Jesus, led our bee tour and answered all of our many questions. He was very kind, knowledgeable and patient when addressing our questions. If you are looking for a fun experience you need to come out here and do the tour!!!

After all, this place is out in the country and, although not too far off of Hwy 71, it is secluded and kind of remote (probably seems more remote than it actually is). It was, however, a delightful surprise! The shop had a wide variety of bee-related items from tools and clothing for serious bee keepers to honeys and honey-sweetened candies to bee-themed household goods. So cute!! We were treated to a honey tasting, which (like wines) started with the lighter colored and flavored honey (a local honey) up to the darker honeys, then we veered off and were sampling cinnamon honey (think Red Hots + honey), coffee and chocolate flavored, and (my favorite) chili-infused honey. Cannot wait to try this drizzled over some soft cheese. I don't know how I got out with only the few items I purchased (photos below), so I'll have to go back. Many of the items would make great gifts (I'm thinking of those coffee mugs: Let it Bee; Bee Happy; and my favorite: Give Bees a Chance. Tours are also offered but must be scheduled in advance, a down side of spur-of-the-moment exploring. I'll be sure to do that next time, when I'm back to purchase gifts.

In addition to offering…read morevarious in-person classes for new beekeepers or those just interested in bees, they host an almost weekly (Saturday mornings) FaceBook live broadcast where Mark goes over relevant topics. The equipment portion of the store is very well stocked and has pretty much anything a beekeeper could need (or want) at reasonable prices. The wax/honey/product portion of the store always has unique one-of-a kind items as well as the 'typical' items that folks regularly buy (i.e. honey, beeswax, candles, etc.). Though the store is usually always busy, Mark, Thien and other staff are never too busy to answer questions from customers. They also respond (amazingly quickly - far better than I think I would be) to emails with questions from beekeepers. They have queens (unmarked early on and marked later) available for re-queening each year, which is really great because re-queening is a regular part of beekeeping and being able to obtain them locally is great. Aside from being helpful at the store and in answering questions, everyone at Gretchen's Bee Ranch are just good people - people you'd want to be friends with even if you weren't customers. If you've never stopped buy, check this place out. If you are a beekeeper anywhere near Seguin, this is the place to come for all of your apiary needs. If you just want to learn more about bees, there is probably a class (either a limited in-person one, an on-line one or a no-limit in-person one) for you!
