Refused service to a friend, to a by-stander, and to a policeman who came to help. Arrogant, rude employee. Never will return.

North Hillsboro, this is your lunch option…read more I want to get this review in just to remind people that this and the Jesus Fightin' Coffee Barn behind Napa are the only food-selling businesses keeping regular hours in this rapidly expanding corner of the city. If the town overlords have their way, there'll be three new factories (oh, sorry "fabs"--wouldn't want to be coarse) belching smoke (darn it, there I go again--"vapor") into the sky from their myriad stacks (ahem, "scrubbers") just across the road, some new corporate campuses for all the tech people who totally go to the office after Covid and... no amenities or housing whatsoever. Great. As it is, the one restaurant in this area--Jersey Girl Pizza--can't attract enough help to stay open for lunch because its key labor pool is still attending Glencoe in the afternoon. Anything else the neighborhood needs is 2+ miles away, and bus service to the area is about to be discontinued because that bus didn't serve anyone but Intel. So we get the faithful Plaid, which recognizes it's the one port in a storm and recently bulked up its selection of milk, eggs and other staples to go with its actual essentials: Four aisles of snacks and a wall of alcohol fridges and ice cream freezers. There is (1) grocery aisle, and even that contains wine. For the optimist, this Plaid has a shocking array of European chocolates and candies, a diverse selection of chips ranging from hot to flamin' hot and a lovely gentleman behind the counter who'll wish you a Plaidtastic day. For the pessimist, there are still enough disgruntled country regulars to keep you entertained with disputes over nicotine patches, political discussions about flavored tobacco bans and squabbles over who'll clean up an ICEE spilled while reaching for a clearance yardstick of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. There are sandwiches in a refrigerator section, but no one knows where they're made. There's "coffee" on the counter that may or may not derive from beans. And there's a microwave for your burritos that may even be clean if you get to it early enough in the week. This is what the future workers of North Hillsboro will line up for in the years that follow. This is what may eventually force the pizza place to realize that you can, in fact, hire workers from places other than the high school across the street. This is the single most reliable business in this sought-after corner of town, and it's a dark metaphor for what awaits those who settle here. Have a Plaidtastic day.

What's happened to Walgreens??…read more My first (and most likely, only) visit to this location didn't go too well. I actually use a different location closer to home, but when my Walgreens informed me they couldn't honor my vaccine appt by hanging a note on the closed pharmacy during the day of my scheduled visit, I rescheduled my flu shot to this nearby store. Since my store's sign stated that anyone scheduled would need to stop by and be worked in during the next week, my hope was that by taking an appointment slot at this location instead, maybe I wouldn't have to stand around and wait. I was wrong. I arrived at the recommended 15 mins prior to my appointment time. There was a small line for both vaccine check-in and script pick-up. However I could see 6 employees working behind the counter, so the line moved at a decent clip. Since they weren't busy at all at this point and it was now 50 mins past my appointment time, I decided to approach the consultation window and inquire...just to be sure I hadn't been forgotten. I stood at the window in front of 3 employees for a few mins without being acknowledged. I finally just spoke up and asked for some help. The ultimate answer from the pharmacist was that I was next in line and to give them 5 minutes. About 10 minutes later I was called in for my shot. If I hadn't approached them I really don't know when I would've been seen. At that time the lines were gone, and only one other vaccine customer was waiting with me. **To be completely transparent, the employee tasked at giving my shot didn't seem at all comfortable doing it. She seemed nervous, and was very awkward holding the needle and injecting. I was also required to fill out the paperwork while waiting that I'd already completed online.** It was a hard one to understand. They appeared to have plenty of employees...granted they all seemed active, but I definitely don't think that the 1 hour and 15 minutes total time I was inside for my appointment could've possibly been necessary. Maybe Walgreens isn't the best option at this time for vaccines?

I had 3at 7 gal and 1 at 5 gal, so at $3.49 I was going good to spend a fair amount of money. Pluss I was planing on filling my truck while I was there. The lot was empty, and as the attendant was heading over to help me a car pulls in, so he back tracked to go help the car first. Guess it's OK to make me wait. Then in the middle of filling my tanks another car pulls in so he stops helping me to take care of the car. Again I guess it's OK to make me wait, but not someone else. He also had in ear buds and was talking on the phone the entire time he was helping me. Then I go in and hand the cashier my slip and pay. On my way out to the truck I notice they had charged me for an extra gallon. Back into the store. Tell the cashier he over charged me and he says I'll go talk to him. He told me 21.4 instead of 20.4. I told him I had a picture of the meter, but he just blew me off to go chat with the attendant. Was very reud the entire time. Bottom line stay away from this place. Very reud staff. I will not be going back.

This specific employee we don't like seeing because she's always weird towards me and my boyfriend. Other than that one lady we love the other employees they're super friendly and not in a weird way like she is.

On the way out, I greeted the clerk who then accused my young son of stealing a bag of potato chips. I have since filed a formal complaint with the corporate office and will allow a few days for them to make my family whole. Additionally, I expect accountability and redress to be brought against the 2 store clerks involved to ensure this never happens again. If the corporate office doesn't do it, then we have a legal department that will. I also have this incident recorded in case we need to include the press and social media influencers. I hope that plaid pantry corporate office takes note and accepts our olive branch to be made whole. I have given them a few days to internally investigate themselves and do the right thing. We did not deserve to be treated this way, and the situation was traumatizing for my son who couldn't understand why an adult stranger would accuse him of stealing. We are a family of honor. Too many Black people are killed when police are called by store clerks who make erroneous claims based on their own racist assumptions that prove to be inaccurate in most cases. To be clear, this message nor my formal complaint is an attempt to threaten anyone, nor to tear down this corporation. It is my duty to inform my community of racism and discrimination when it occurs, so all of our neighbors feel safe and empowered to not be harassed by store clerks who make racist claims against their own customers. We are not moving anywhere and will stand our ground against any oppression that finds its way into our cipher. I'd highly recommend finding another place to shop and please be safe. Thank you.

AWFUL! The weather was nice, so I decided to walk home from the MAX stop by the Fairgrounds,…read morefiguring I could stop and get a club soda or something at one of the places in this strip mall if my arms gave out -- I was returning home from a writers' event for NaNoWriMo, carrying my laptop and a canvas bag from the library. I wasn't sure if I could handle a long walk given that I'd recently had heart surgery -- some days I can handle a lot of activity, some days I can't. Magufy's told me that they just closed, as it was a little after 1:00. So I went to Richard's. The lady behind the counter didn't even give me a chance to say hello. She immediately shouted at me, "Our bathroom is closed! We closed it half an hour ago, because we're going to be closing soon!" I was like um, OK, I really just want something to drink, and since the area behind the counter looked more like a convenience store than a pub, I asked for a bottle of water. Or a soda or something. "We don't sell bottles of water!" Um, OK. Um, well then can I get the address? I'd like to call a Lyft. She gave me a quizzical look, and told me the address. Then another patron asked her how late they were open. She said another half hour. I then asked her if her place is going to be open for another half hour, why would she have closed down the bathroom already, as well as stopped serving bottles of water. She didn't answer me about the bathroom, and shouted: "We don't sell bottles of water!" Um, OK, what about soda? You've got a thingy for fountain drinks right here next to the counter, I guess could I get a cup, and I'll take a look at what soda's you - "We already closed the drink station!" That's when the other patron giggled a bit and said, "I think she's trying to indirectly tell you to get the hell out." So I told her I agreed with him. Why is she being rude and giving me an attitude? Then she really blew up, telling me I should leave. I told her fine, you just lost a customer, I'm going to go outside and call a Lyft. I could hear her through the glass window and door, screaming about me to the other patron as I waited for my ride. What a terrible first impression of this dump. I plan to write a letter to her manager next, as well as the corporate offices as this is apparently a chain with over 200 locations. I'll also be looking into whether they're violating any city ordinances by not having their bathroom open during business hours, especially since they are a pub. Ironic, as I hadn't needed to go to the bathroom in the first place -- city citations though can be a real pisser.
