Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #117…read more We visited Onit Cafe on a rainy Saturday afternoon in June, hoping to score an after lunch boba. Sprinting through the downpour, as we hadn't expected the rain, we threw ourselves into this modern, yet industrial shop, where we saw a couple of people sitting inside like us to wait out the rain. We placed our order with the friendly bobarista and got our drink within a couple of minutes. Jasmine Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($6.75) - The milk tea has a heavy powdery creamer flavor, but it's not gritty or silty at all. Unfortunately it's so heavy that the drink tastes almost entirely like creamer with only a tiny bit of flowery finish. It's not the most pleasant flavor due to this quality. While the creamer is on the heavier end, the sweetness is not; at half sweet it's not too sweet. The boba is very good, super bouncy and chewy with basically the ideal texture. They aren't marinated that long so aren't quite that sweet or flavorful. Milk Tea Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Onit Cafe is one of those rare places where I liked the boba far more than the drink. I don't visit Federal Way too often, but if I'm even down there again, I'd give it another shot to see if I can get a better drink next time. Cafe Seoul is a Korean cafe located in Federal Way in a plaza across from The Commons…read more Surprisingly, this was my first time stepping foot inside Cafe Seoul even though I frequent this area. My boyfriend and I had a long day planned ahead of us. So, we decided a fix of caffeine to start our day. I ordered the Hojicha Latte, and my boyfriend ordered the Affogato (vanilla soft serve with two shots of espresso). This was his first time ever ordering an affogato. After I questioned his choice of having ice cream for breakfast, he still went for the drink. He was surprised there was more soft serve ice cream than coffee, but I knew this would be the case. Nonetheless, he actually enjoyed it and has now incorporated making affogatos at home pretty regularly. The cafe is cute and has a nice selection of different drinks to order from coffees, teas, and matchas. There are also sweet treats like bingsu and croffles!

I'm generally a latte person, so I went with the Matcha Pandan, and I thought it was pretty good! Most of my family was specifically craving ice cream, though, so they went for the soft serve. They have a few different drinks and desserts to choose from, making it a convenient place when everyone wants something a little different. My biggest gripe is the space (really, the lack thereof). We were a party of seven, and Cafe Seoul is extremely small and cramped inside. Seating is very limited, and we couldn't really sit together until some people left and others were kind enough to share or give up chairs. There were also a few students hanging out when we visited, so I definitely wouldn't count on this being a comfortable sit-down spot if you're coming with a larger group. The layout doesn't help much either. The menu and some of the seating are awkwardly positioned near the bathroom, and at certain points you're basically squeezing past people just to get around. For a quick drink or dessert, it's manageable, but I wouldn't personally choose this as somewhere to settle in and hang out for a long time with a big party. If you manage to snag enough seats, consider yourself lucky. Service was okay. It took a while for everyone's orders to come out, and unfortunately one of ours was completely missed. We eventually realized it hadn't even been included in the original transaction, so we had to go back up and pay for it separately. Nothing that ruined the night, but between that and the wait, service wasn't necessarily a highlight either. Cafe Seoul gets the job done and meets standard expectations. My Matcha Pandan was tasty, my family got their late-night soft serve fix, and being open later than your average coffee shop is a bonus. I wouldn't go significantly out of my way for it, but if I'm ever back in Federal Way and craving a late-night latte or dessert, I'd consider stopping by again.

My scone was flaky and light, not overly dense and had just the right amount of icing. They have a nice selection of baked goods as well as some deli items if you're looking for a meal. The atmosphere was really cool- the coffee shop has two other buildings to choose from to enjoy your coffee and conversations. Inside the main building, there's a fireplace and garage doors that can open up to flow into the outdoor seating area. One of the other buildings actually has an encased "treehouse" you can choose to use (so cool!!!). The service was attentive, and the employees were really friendly and helpful. This is our new coffee spot now whenever we visit family in WA, we loved everything about it, and we wish we had one in Bskers

The Worst Breakfast Experience We've Ever Had…read more My husband and I recently visited this café for breakfast. We were both very hungry and excited to try a new place. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a lovely morning together turned into one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. At first, everything seemed fine. However, we soon realized that the wait to place our order was extremely long. We also watched several other customers waiting for a long time to receive their food, with no progress in sight. We eventually placed our order and double-checked everything, but the staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. There were only two employees working, and honestly, I think the café needs more staff and a better-organized kitchen. I ordered an avocado toast, but when it arrived, it was missing the tomatoes and eggs that I had specifically paid for. On top of that, the bread was so stale and hard that it was almost impossible to bite into. When I went back to ask for the missing ingredients, nobody even apologized. They simply threw some roughly chopped eggs on top without any care or presentation. It looked nothing like the beautiful dish advertised in the menu photos. And that wasn't even the end of it. I also ordered a salad that looked beautiful in the menu photos, with everything nicely arranged on a plate. After waiting another five minutes, I realized that nobody remembered my order. When I finally asked about it, once again, there was no apology. They simply took the salad out of the refrigerator and handed it to me in a plastic container, exactly as it would come from a grocery store. Nobody even bothered to put it on a plate. The salad was freezing cold and completely unappetizing. This is absolutely not how food should be served in a café. The atmosphere was another disappointment. The entire place smelled strongly of burnt food and coffee beans, all mixed together. It was so unpleasant that we couldn't even enjoy sitting inside and had to move outside. They have a little treehouse area where guests can sit privately. Since we were just the two of us and it happened to be available, we decided to sit there. At first, everything seemed fine, until we noticed a terribly torn leather couch. It was impossible to miss, and it completely ruined what could have been a beautiful, aesthetic morning. They could have at least covered it or repaired it. There were also visible food and coffee stains on the floor that clearly needed to be cleaned. Overall, I have never experienced such terrible service, such disappointing food, or such bad coffee anywhere before. The coffee itself was practically undrinkable. Imagine starting your morning with your husband, hoping to enjoy a nice breakfast together, almost like a little date, and ending up leaving hungry, disappointed, and frustrated. I honestly cannot recommend this café to anyone. Whether they need to hire more staff, improve their food preparation, train their employees, or simply pay more attention to the condition of their business, something needs to change. This was an absolutely awful experience, and if I could give this place zero stars, I would. Not even one star. P.s. I actually made it look nice in the photo. In reality, it looked much worse because I added some effects for my Instagram. Also, the eggs you see in the photo were actually arranged by my husband. He doesn't work there, and he shouldn't have had to do that. I simply wanted an aesthetically pleasing photo, but I ended up having to arrange everything myself.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #115…read more This is one of three Sunright Tea Studio locations in King County and is by far the largest in terms of size. It's the only one that has actual seating and tables, which makes it a much better location to relax in and slowly sip on drinks. We visited on the way down to Portland, hoping to get a caffeine pick-me-up before the long rush-hour fueled traffic on the way down. This location has two kiosks for easy ordering, although in less busy times, the bobaristas are happy to take orders and answer questions. Fragrant really condensed milk and extra cane sugar for sweetness. Slight fruit essence. regular ice on a hot day almost all gone within five minutes. About 3:1 ratio tea to milk Boba great soft yet really chewy and bouncy. Compresses soft layer on outside. Fragrant Oolong Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Regular Ice, House Milk w/ Brown Sugar Boba ($7.25) - As the name implies, this drink really is quite fragrant, with the somewhat fruity and floral taste that is similar to an osmanthus oolong. It's rich from the addition of condensed milk - in fact, this drink seems to have more dairy in it compared to most boba shops. Watching the bobarista assemble the drink, I saw perhaps a third of the cup filled with milk and condensed milk before adding the tea. I ordered the drink with regular ice and it wasn't nearly enough to survive the hot day - within 5 minutes of pulling out, all the ice was gone. The boba is great. It's soft yet really chewy and bouncy. There's a compressible soft layer right on top that's pleasing on the tongue. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 This Sunright Tea Studio is consistent with the other two locations in the county, serving some really great drinks. I don't come down to Federal Way often, but this would be my choice for boba for any future trips that far down south. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

They have seasonal specials which is always a win for my boyfriend and I as we love trying out new specials. The staff here greeted us warmly and was very patient with the customer before us who was buying a gift card and helped us with the same professionalism and friendliness. We stopped by recently to grab their fall drinks and I saw on the sign that the drink I chose pairs well with a pumpkin spice whipped cream. It is extra so I decided against it. We found a spot to sit at while we waited for our drinks and not only did the employee hand delivered our drinks to us but told me she added the pumpkin spice whipped cream for me. I thought that was super sweet of her that makes the visit all the more special and reason to visit. They do also have a reward system that we joined too. The store is well maintained and there are plenty of seating and tables for all sorts of groups or sole patrons. They have some handcrafted goods to buy as well. We asked if they were dog friendly and they said dogs are welcome so we definitely will stop by more often as the weather gets colder.
