Regularly shop at this grocery store for necessary food items, hot foods, snacks and drinks. But for some reason, every time we want fried chicken from the deli counter, they are out of chicken or don't have enough cooked and ready to be served! It has happened a number of times over the years, doesn't matter what time of afternoon or early evening. Latest instance was on Friday, 8/16/24 at 4:10 PM. We had dropped by to get a couple of 16 Mixed Piece buckets, but they were out of chicken so we had to wait about 25 minutes. So, we walked around the store to get our other groceries and then picked up the 2 buckets of freshly fried chicken. Waiting for it wasn't that big of an issue. Just the fact that the cook wasn't scheduled to be there until 5:00 PM, as mentioned by the employees, and they were totally out of chicken with other customers waiting to buy some as well. Anyway, finding other bread, milk, chips and Sodas were no problem at the store. Good experience browsing around and going through the self-checkout process. Parking was fine as well. Safeway needs to do something about hiring more people to work the deli and hot foods corner. Gotta do something about the schedule to make it more convenient for the customers and workers. read more

I was in on Wednesday evening at around 8:30 PM and I couldn't find anyone to help me so I walked up to the front and I asked the lady running out and she was just sitting there talking to two employees anyways and I asked her if there was anyone that could help me getting some the back? She informed me that there's no one to help me that's it. So I ask her if I can just go into the cooler to get the milk myself because I can see the milk is there and she says oh absolutely not. And so again I asked her well. Is there anyone that can help me and she told me that if the milk isn't stocked because it was that shelf was empty she said that we just don't have it. Repeated herself that there was no one to help me. So I walked back to the milk stood there for five minutes and what do you know a courtesy clerk walks up? He goes back to the back get me the milk. I go up to the front of the store and now the self checkout lady is talking to somebody named Richelle and they proceed to be rape me and accuse me of going into the cooler to get the milk myself and the proceeded to give me like a 10 minute lecture about it and I'm trying to tell them I didn't go into the cooler. It was just the worst experience I've ever had at a Safeway. Did not try to help me at all. sorry.I won't be back to this pit of a store that has employees who just dont care. read more

I give them a 1 star for Customer Service. I understand locking up high dollar items to stop theft. I don't understand only having 1 teller a night manager, stockers, but the Customer Service desk being closed. I grabbed a card for replacement Oral-B brush heads for my toothbrush. I went up front where a security guy was leaning on the counter and a kid was 20 feet away from us messing with his phone. At no time did this kid stop messing with his phone as I stood the for a few minutes waiting to be addressed. It was the security guy who told ne the counter was closed. As I returned to my daughter at the self check out and she finished our check out the Safeway kid did not look up from his phone, no other employee other than the sole checker was up front. I have gone there for lunch a few times and each time is worse than the time before. The deli is very slow and even though they have multiple employees in the department they don't greet you, they can't multi task, it takes 10mins just for someone to say I'll be with you next. Never going back. read more

Store has 2 stars for a reason. Should be less. Ive been coming here for years only bc i live blocks away and it has always disappointed me. And in every way. Food is often expired or bad, never can get a money order or machine has issues and line is backed up. Staff are slow. They need to throw this whole store away and restart. I will start driving farther to another location. read more

Immensely disappointing how bad this store has gotten over the last ten years. Any long time resident of Auburn knows this used to be the store back in the day. Understand why they have closed their second entrance due to theft but I'm sure they can see the loss of profits and customers since doing so. I used to take great pride when I worked for a company that cleaned their parking lot back in 2017 now... trash everywhere. Missing the mark with how many new residents have moved in right in downtown and how they have lost long time residents. Only stop here occasionally because of hours of operation. Inside of the store is always clean, just work on the outside please. read more

The service today was so bad that it had me crying. Just a horrible experience and really poor customer care. The Safeway back in my home town would have. Never treated me so poorly and spoken to me like I'm an idiot. Me and my family just recently moved into this area. And the last time I got wic at this Safeway I had a hard time getting the correct items on my list. Honestly that's MY bad. My mom is logged into my wic account on her phone and for some reason it won't allow me to log in myself. Anyway the cashier was super understanding and sweet and printed off a paper telling me a list of what benefits were available and said "next time you stop in if you are having issues figuring out what items are still available on your list, then just stop by the register first and we'll print off a receipt so that you can do your shopping and come back when you're done. "Oh really?! I didn't know that!" So then this time that's what I went to do first. I stopped at one check stand and just as I was walking up she flipped the light off and said "oh you can go over here" she had no idea that it would have taken 2 seconds for her to help me, but I hung my head and stepped into the next line. The guy in front of me had a full conveyer belt full of groceries. My head started pounding and I felt embarrassed and panic but I told myself "it's ok Kaitlyn. Just stay calm. They're doing their job as best as they can" I took deep breaths and patiently waited. When I got to the front of the line I smiled and explained what I needed. "Will you please print me off one of those receipts that tell me what items I can purchase in store?" "No we don't do that." She replies really abruptly. My face flushed "oh... are you sure? Because the lady last time..." "No we can't print off receipts unless there is a purchase." I was trying so hard to keep my head calm. I just wanted to feel heard or like she wanted to help me or something. In my home town they would have been like "oh let me have someone go run and get you a wic item so that we can see if it works" or idk something!!! But she was honestly very snappy and brushed me off like she didn't care. So then I walked to an isle and grabbed wic peanutbutter (which I got last check so I knew if it didn't work that meant my benefits had not come in yet and then I could still get an itemized list of what other things may or may not be left over) I rushed back to her isle and YES the line was empty! But just as I walked up she flipped the light of and once again I had to wait in line... the man in front of me had 3 carts FULL of groceries. All the while I could hear the clerk at the register getting her till changed out and thinking to myself... she really couldn't have just helped me? I was so confused and hurt. Then she goes over to register 5 and turns on that light. And a bunch of people rush into the line. Why is the universe taking a shit on me today?! Wtf?! In the end it turned out I had no benefits and I was too embarrassed to ask for any further assistance. Then on a ttly different note... I go to that pharmacy to pick up my prescription and they tell me my insurance was denied even though I just recently did a phone interview with them and they told me that I would have benefits until the end of October. So I mean I know that's not their fault but FUCK one thing after another and I ended up leaving the store empty handed and completely humiliated. I sat in the car crying Oh also... it's Labor Day week so it's not like I can make any calls and just figure my shit out. Everything is closed. read more

Can you give 0stars now? I don't enjoy shopping here. Today was my last visit. Two days in a row Betty (bitter b!$&@hy Betty) was my clerk. Not only does she not say hello, she scolds people (not just myself) for not putting their bags in front of their food. She scolded an elderly gentleman today for not using the separation bar. Mind you the two she has were being used. She complains my bags are to tall for her every time. I don't make the bags. I just have to purchase them because reusable bags are required. Today her scale was acting up and she was throwing my produce around as if it was an inconvenience that I'm purchasing produce. Not my fault the scale malfunctions. My daughter who shared a cart with me but had a separate transaction was treated just as poorly. So Betty, since we are such an inconvenience we will not return. I personally think the inconvenience is the riff raff I have to dodge in the parking lot to get to the store. Or maybe the dirty disgusting entry way I have to try to find wipes for the carts (which btw they never keep full) or possibly the fact that now I have to drive further with expensive gas prices because Covington will earn my business for now. read more

The unfriendliest employees I've ever encountered. Not one single one smiled. Young woman watching over self serve stations was texting instead of watching. Had to ask her twice to come authorize a purchase, she frowned, didn't say a word, acted like I had said something offensive. Safeway, have you noticed all the other stores closing? Strike 2! So I went into their Starbucks, ordered a drink n paid for it. The girl then tells me she cant make my drink bc shes out of the ingredient . I didn't even get a refund bc she couldnt figure it out and didnt give a damn. Tonight I went in and asked to have someone come back and sell me a cake. The lady explained that they are short staffed and I will have to wait. Ok got it. I go back and wait 30 min. Finally I take a different cake up front and ask the same woman 'hey can you sell me the cake I want ?' Frusterated she tells me 'when I get someone to relieve me I can go back there . you will have to wait" I explain to her I've waited 30 min already. She didn't give a damn- pretty much shrugged. So I get the cake i don't want and now my best friend is going to get just a cake and not something special. Thanks for not giving a damn Safeway read more

Scary scary place with all the aggressive pan handling in the parking lot-- NEVER go if it's dark outside -- SOOO tired of the same cashier telling me exactly how many days she has left until she retires (calculated the years into days)-- if it's that bad, find another job!!-- I actively look for a different cashier if available and will wait longer not to go to her line !!-- on a fabulous checker note- Darlene has ALWAYS been courteous , speedy, awesome-- one year at Christmas she offered to buy my groceries for me as I found out-at the cash register- someone had drained my account -- I declined but never forgot her kind generosity!!.. I don't know a fix for all the outside safety issues but sure hope it changes quickly-- at least fred Meyer has auburn police stationed there now so the illusion of safety is there read more

Ten years ago I went to this Safeway and while standing in line, had a clerk open a new register and take the person BEHIND me in line, rather them me. I complained to the manager and tried to avoid that store in the future. Today I again went to that same store to have the same thing happen. Each time this happens I abandon the items I have selected and go to another store. Apparently this method of treating customers is common and perhaps encouraged at this store since it is so prevalent. If you want high prices and be treated rudely, the Bonney Lake Safeway is the store for you. read more

This is for the Safeway on Auburn Way South. It's not that great word of warning to you all. If you must go here go very early because when I went there was a kid running all over the place & she had this toy ball she was rolling all around. When I shop, I don't want to have to look over my shoulder for kids running, and this cute little tyke ran up then down the aisle. Well she is a kid. The issue I have is why didn't her Mother kind of tell her "this is a store not a playground". Don't care for this centuries type of parenting where parents let their kids run wild. Because I know if I had accidentally collided with the little girl that Mother would have threatened my life causing all holy hell with me. This made my shopping experience hell! I will simply have to figure out how to get to HAAGENS grocery were its a little more civilized and I don't have to worry about kids running everywhere. I don't like Safeway at this spot anyway. Too cluttered, aisles too small, and way too crowded. read more

I spoke to the security gaurd at approximately 11:00 PM on Sunday night 3/12/17. He was talking he was talking to another gentleman in the black jacket in the red shirt I went up to ask him about the long line the only one line you had open and the guy that was next to him told me enjoy the show buddy, i was very offended by this.I complained at the front and nothing was seemed to sink in as the poor person was overwhelmed with the line. read more
