There was plenty of seating inside and we had no trouble finding an open spot to sit down and enjoy our ice cream. There also wasn't a line which was really nice! My boyfriend got the mint chip in a waffle cone, and I got the salted caramel cookies n creme in a cup with sprinkles on it. While I do usually prefer my ice cream order to my boyfriends....i do have to admit that I liked his more. Don't skip the waffle cone like I did. Definitely a great stop to add to your day in boston! The flavors are always great, and there's seasonal flavors which rotate that are always fun to try.

I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I devoured it without hesitation. There were so many great flavor options, and my friends all found something they loved too. It felt like one of those classic, must-stop dessert spots. Cold, delicious, and just the right amount of chaotic fun... it was wicked good.

A great café in the heart of Back Bay and an easy place to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon…read more The interior is spacious, bright, and charming, with plenty of seating compared with many coffee shops in the area. The vegetable frittata was delicious--fresh, satisfying, and a perfect light breakfast. We also shared a scone with fruit jam, which was very well made. Scones are highly subjective, but this one was exactly the style I enjoy: flavorful without being overly sweet. I didn't try the coffee myself, but my partner really enjoyed hers, which isn't surprising given Thinking Cup's reputation as one of Boston's standout coffee shops. Between the welcoming atmosphere, quality food, and excellent location on Newbury Street, I'd definitely return the next time I'm in Boston.

I just got back to Boston after an eight-year absence…read more The city's changed. New buildings. New shops. New restaurants. Even neighborhoods I used to know by heart feel a little unfamiliar now (why is Downtown Crossing so CLEAN???). Thankfully, there are still those core-memory places that survive the passage of time. Thinking Cup is one of those shiny throwbacks to my younger, more vulnerable days. I'm happy to see it's still here, although I was surprised to find it's noticeably bigger than I remembered. Some things change for the better. The only downside? No Wi-Fi. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. In fact, I kind of respect it. It just made my usual review routine impossible. I normally post photos to Instagram first, then write my Yelp review afterward. No Wi-Fi meant no uploads, so you'll have to take my word for it this time. The coffee is solid. I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip across town just for that. The carrot cake, however... Now I understand why everyone talks about it. Moist without being heavy, perfectly balanced on the spice, and topped with a delish frosting that somehow manages to be rich without becoming overly sweet. It's easily among the best carrot cakes I've had anywhere. Some places survive because they're familiar. Others survive because they continue earning it. After all these years, Thinking Cup still deserves a place in Boston's coffee conversation, and I'm glad one of my favorite old haunts is still making new memories.

We came for dinner and I got the turkey and brie sandwich. The brie melted in your mouth and paired perfectly with the crunchy vegetables and turkey in the sandwich. There was also a layer of fruit jam which created a salty sweet combination that was delicious. I also shared a warm custard bread pudding for dessert with a friend (be aware that you have to order this 30 minutes ahead as they bake it fresh!) which was so yummy - it was quite sweet but gooey and a lovely mixture of caramel flavors that paired nicely with the vanilla gelato. Prices are on the higher side but align with the attention that is paid to each plate! They have a super cute bookstore next to the cafe which is fun to browse. The set-up is within three stories of a house and the decor/design inside is very cozy - definitely worth checking out. On the third floor children's section there is a toy train that periodically circles the top of the room which is a fun touch too!

Make sure to have reservations if you would like to dine in and have more options than just the carry out menu.
