Southdown Coffee - Port Jefferson

While I was visiting NY, I stopped by Southdown Coffee in Port Jeff. Located on the corner and…read moreunderneath gorgeous apartment buildings, not a far walk from the water. It was a quiet Friday morning, and though I may have taken the day off, there was plenty of people working on their laptops and getting work done. It is a perfect spot for those looking for a change of scenery with a work from home job. I don't often change it up from my go-to coffee order, so I ordered an iced latte with almond milk and sugar-free vanilla. For food, I leaned into the barista to help me with this one. I was torn between the breakfast burrito and the famous egg sandwich. I ended up going with the breakfast burrito (two eggs, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream). It was fresh and flavorful. I think some salsa would be a perfect pair with it, but I'll see if they have that next time! At $15, it's a little on the pricey side, but it was worth it. I'm looking forward to trying one of their other locations next time I'm home. I hear one of them has a wine bar!

Modern and homey vibes throughout the store, with indoor and outdoor seating for eats. They offer teas, breakfast meal items, coffees, espresso, and matcha. For our first visit we decided to try the iced matchas. I got the strawberry with almond milk and my partner, undecided, opted for a regular matcha with almond milk. The matcha and drinks are made in front of you. The lids and straws are located across from where you pick your order up from. After trying the regular matcha, my partner opted to add some vanilla syrup, which we were informed was made in house. That made the matcha taste so good, for me, that I swapped drinks with my partner and kept the vanilla matcha, my partner really liked the strawberry matcha, made with strawberry puree. Paid under $17 for both drinks. Would come back to try other items.

There is a QR code at the tables and they prefer you to order at your table, however we had questions and some items were not on the QR menu so we had to go to cashier and ask questions. There is lots of seating on the floor on cushions and mattresses, but there are also several chairs. When you enter you have to take your shoes off, which is not an issue, just wish they had a bench you could sit on to take off your shoes and put your shoes on afterwards, as that was difficult for me , as I didn't have slip ons. That's my only negative. Food was delicious . I tried a new beverage and the pistachio cake- both delish! It is located in a strip mall, so lots of parking. Prices reasonable

Tons of teas to pick from & some sweets as well. The young man working there was friendly. We placed our order & found a table. They do request you remove your shoes, hey I do it at home so no problem for me. I enjoyed a chai tea with rose & cardamom. It was very good, had a kind of floral light hot chocolate taste. I'm sure it's fun at night, I believe you can get teas for a group. If you want to try something different I suggest you try them!

That was awesome considering it was Easter Sunday. Our waitress was Antoinette. In light of the crowd she handled the order very well. Thumbs up to her. The food was amazing especially the cinnamon bun pancakes. I would say the potatoes were a bit on the salty side but everything else was great. We will be back and hands down the best breakfast place I have been at in awhile.

I make it a point to try something different every time I come, and it has truly never disappointed. Everything is consistently delicious and clearly made with care. The coffee is great (which is a must for brunch), and I love that they always feature seasonal specials, it keeps the menu exciting and gives you a reason to come back again and again. Portion sizes are also fantastic; you definitely leave full and satisfied, which I really appreciate. And let's talk about the breakfast potatoes... easily the best breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. Perfectly cooked, seasoned so well, and honestly addictive. I look forward to them every single visit. They're open bright and early for early risers, but they close around 3pm, so plan accordingly. On weekends, I highly recommend joining the waitlist early because this place gets PACKED, and for good reason. Overall, Toast Coffeehouse is a total favorite of mine. I always love coming here, and I always leave happy and full. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and go, you won't regret it!

It was my first time, but it seems like coffee shops are popping up all over the area. It's amazing, everyone of them is busy all the time. This coffee hop is a little different. A few years back it was a deli. I went there once and that was enough for me. But I noticed this building undergoing a renovation. So there's about 8 of us and impossible for all of us to sit together. So coffee, any kind you like and a few I've never had. I chose a coffee with turmeric. Well healthy anyway. The menu offers many items which I'll try at a different time. Big bonus, they have a rooftop deck with a view of Port Jefferson harbor. Looking forward to sitting there in the summer. So for now I was very pleased and plan to go back.
