A strong experience for my first visit after brunch at The Stockpot Chesapeake…read more They are located in the space previously occupied by Big Ugly Brewing. Parking is adequate. One of the first things I realized after stepping in their door is they are a very pro military operation. They have lots a sign that indicate military support like a wall hanging of Challenge coins. Also the names of the coffee. They sell a large variety of their own coffee in bags. They also sell merchandise. The roasting operation is open for the public to see. I decided on a cup of medium roasted blend. Staff was great and also useful assisting with my choice. They provide samples. They have space to enjoy your cup too. But I got mine to go. I was very happy with the taste and a good price point too. This was not my first time trying them as they offered at some area restaurants like American Brew in VB. I would love to return

I didn't try the food because we were going to breakfast a couple doors down.

My husband and I are regulars at Big Ugly but I've never taken the opportunity to try Taxus Street until this week. I tried to come on Monday and quickly learned they were closed, so returned the following day. They operate inside the brewery and have a nice setup in the corner. There is lots of seating - bars and high tops - and it's a great spot for a morning gathering. There was a meeting in the upstairs loft happening during my visit. The barista who assisted me was working solo. She was super friendly and happy to answer my questions. I was glad to hear they offer decaf espresso. I opted to try one of their seasonal lattes - the Mounds Bar latte with almond milk, mocha and coconut cold foam. It took only a few minutes for my order to be prepared. I did find the drink to be slightly sweet for my taste and would ask for half sweet on my next visit. For the lactose intolerant, they have almond and oat milk options. They also have several pastries and some hot food options to choose from like overnight oats and breakfast burritos from Burrito Perdido. I was really pleased with my recent visit and I'll be happy to come back soon!

There's barstool seating at the countertop facing the grill and a few chairs at a carved wooden tabletop facing the large window. RoJo Coffee also has some outdoor seating options under a large tree. The menu is very impressive with specialty lattes and teas, and energy drinks, too. The breakfast and lunch menu offers a variety that's sure to please everyone's taste buds. I truly enjoyed the Belgian Waffle that comes with their house made mixed berry compote and powdered sugar, along with pure maple syrup, and house whipped cream. I liked how the chilled compote, syrup, and whipped cream were served in separate containers so that I could dip! Nice touch! The Belgian Waffle was fluffy and tasty! I also enjoyed my choice of The Lola (White Snickerdoodle Latte) specialty latte with oak milk (extra charge) that features white mocha, cinnamon & vanilla. My husband really liked his order of the Breakfast Burrito with bacon, noting how tasty their house salsa was. His specialty latte was The Moose which is their honey roasted peanut latte (toasted marshmallow, peanut butter & honey). Our orders were taken by the mother of one of the owners. She was very friendly and pleasant, telling us to take our time looking over the menu. She pointed out the month of May specials, and you could tell how happy she was to support this small business. We're thankful to have such a wonderful breakfast and lunch option with specialty beverages on the south side of the Great Bridge Locks. IYKYK

What a gem of a coffee shop! This is one of my favorite coffee finds to date in Hampton Roads. Is…read moreit anywhere near my house? Nope. A total nightmare to get to for logistically, but totally worth the hassle and the drive. This place is tiny so we lucked out getting seats. There are a few seats on a low top bar facing the street and a few more high top bar seats facing the kitchen. Not ideal for socializing, but we made it work, I found this place to be extremely kid-friendly even though it isn't necessarily catering towards kids. Tons of great food options - highlights being the strawberry french toast and the chicken bacon ranch wrap. Pretty sure these are both specials for February, but gosh they should keep them year-round. The gentleman cooking was great - from food to service. My coffee was good. Not superb, but hit the spot. My biggest wish for coffee shops is always homemade syrups but at least they use Monin. Overall, great experience and will definitely be back next time I stumble upon the area.

Everything I've had has been consistently good. Everything freshly made and good flavor. They do not offer straight up coffee. It's all lattes and espresso and such. None of it bad. The place is clean and there is plenty of indoor seating. The service though leaves something to be desired. They have QR code menus at the table that don't allow for much in variation and don't cover the entire print menu. We sat down and when we realized this I approached the counter to attempt to order from there. (I had just seen a customer walk in and order at the counter for to go) I was flat out ignored while I stood there. They were not busy. There was one other table of 1 and the to go order. I was forced to use the QR ( they lost money because of this as my order would have been different and larger had I been able to speak to a person). The "waiter" dropped off our food and never came back to check on us until it we were finished and he wanted to clear the table. Borderline rude, at best indifferent. Giving it three stars for the past positive experiences but not sure I'll be back anytime soon.

This location was busy, packed with teenagers having a hangout sesh which I thought was cute. There were also people coming in and out grabbing orders for take out. I ordered the Fajita Pita as a rice bowl as always at the other location and I also got a Strawberry Watermelon Pineapple Juice. It took a little minute to get my food just because it was busy which I didn't mind. My rice bowl tasted the same as the other location which gave me much satisfaction and is a testament of the consistency across locations. The juice was refreshing and well balanced. Overall I enjoyed my pickup and I am happy to know there's another location I can go to if I need and want to. I am craving it as I write this review!!!

Looking back at the photos and wow! I'm sorry it's been so long, but I'm here now! After an afternoon of driving up from North Carolina, I was ready for beer and air conditioning and some wifi. I found all here and it was a great spot. Open, comfortable and friendly. I had a high top table but there was all kinds of other seating, both inside and out. For beers, I very much enjoyed their Tiny Panzer, a tasty hefeweizen. For seconds while Yelping with my laptop, the BUB Lite was a lighter American lager that was surprisingly flavorful and totally crushable. Big Ugly does not have a kitchen (yay, they can have dogs!) and today they were pairing up with the Pinoy Delights food truck. They have a schedule on their webpage. This is a superior spot and I enjoyed my evening. [Review 729 of 2025 - 1485 in Virginia - 24289 overall]
