Overall, I did find it expensive for what you get, and I feel there is some criticism here they need to accept: #1 - What we were served looked nothing like the pictures from the first 2 years they were open, in which the desserts are about 60% flavored ice and 40% toppings. What we got was about 97% shaved ice and 3% toppings. (Also, no whipped cream on the polar affogato). #2 - There is a teeny tiny sign on the back wall that you can barely read that states that all orders have a 10% gratuity automatically included. This sign is NOT visible from the cash register, and is 8 get away in 14-16 pt font. Clearly they don't want customers to see it.. Additionally, their POS system is asking you to add gratuity, even though they're already secretly auto-charging you 10% gratuity. That is flat-out disgusting. There was very little labor/time involved. So on top of the high prices, with greatly reduced toppings, they are encouraging people to pay upwards of 30% gratuity? For $8 flavored ice ready in 3 minutes? To make it worse, I'm sure the people working were the owners. Proprietors shouldnt be accepting or soliciting ANY tips at all.

It has a light fluffy texture and is easier and lighter to eat! We tried a 4 mini sampler plate for $19 and were not disappointed. We got Twix, Mexican candy, strawberry cheesecake, and snow thaigher( thai tea). Our favorites were the Mexican candy and strawberry shortcake, we found the fruit flavors to be the most flavorful! The service was from the owners I believe, who were very kind and checked in on us to make sure we liked everything. We will be returning, possibly every time we go the river!

The bagels were perfect and you can tell everything is made with care. The music adds to the vibe, and I love that they always have different things going on like pop ups, markets, and social events. It feels like a place you actually want to hang out at, not just grab food and leave. Heads up: come early because they run out of their specialty cream cheeses fast, especially the garlic and chive. No exterior sign at all. Found my way inside and it took a few moments to be acknowledged. That's ok, baristas were busy, I get it. I was slightly underwhelmed at the dark interior. It was no where near as clean or charming as I had expected. Once greeted, I asked if I could have my Americano in a mug instead of a to-go cup. [Insert confused face here]. Apparently this was a tough request. Once we cleared this up, payment was processed and I took a seat at a booth. Coffee order was brought out in a small plastic cup. Yes- plastic cups. Mmmm, hot liquid served in plastic is my fav. (I'm kidding of course) worse yet, the coffee was straight up awful. Truly, it was bad and I hate to even say this. I know a small biz needs all the love it can get and I REALLY wanted to love this place. I even had an extra shot of espresso added and this drink wasn't even as good as a gas station. I'm a huge espresso lover. I have a fancy machine at home but I love to support coffee shops when I'm out running errands. There are very rare times that I have negative comments. Sadly, this was one of those rare occasions. On the bright side- clean restrooms & fun art on the walls. And I was able to snap some cute shots with a retro filter.

It's only 3 minutes from my house and it is officially my new favorite spot This wonderful family-owned Guatemalan coffee shop has so many amazing options for coffee and teas -- there's truly something for everyone. Everything tastes fresh and made with care. They also offer small brunch specials like delicious sandwiches, which makes it the perfect cozy stop in the morning or afternoon. The best part? The flavors are big and bold but well balanced and nuanced. From teas to coffees they have something for everyone. The service is always on point and they are so helpful and friendly. If I'm ever stuck in what to order they have never steered me wrong! Sit for a while or grab and go, but make sure you take a picture at their photo wall. The coffee they use is top tier and they ethically source their beans (which if I remember correctly it's their family's farm as well.) It's the only place we buy our whole beans for home brewing. I'm not a coffee person but Calypso's coffee is so good I happily order it over a tea. If you haven't had the chance to check them out do yourself a favor and go! You'll be rewarded with something delicious and you can't get anywhere else.

I had a milestone birthday coming up and I wanted to do something special. I love going out for…read moreafternoon tea, but I have quite a few vintage teacups and saucers of my own and decided instead to have a small tea party at my house instead. I had done this in the past, but it was so much work - getting all of the ingredients, making the sandwiches, cut the crusts, etc., and I certainly didn't want to do that for my birthday. I searched online and found Yellow Rose Tea caterers, and it sounded like exactly what I wanted - someone to come to my house, set everything up, serve tea, and then clean everything up afterwards! I contacted Sarah at Yellow Rose Tea, and she responded back right away and answered all of my questions. She then provided a quote, and I chose an available date. There are several tea packages available, depending on if you just want tea, sweets, and scones, or a more substantial luncheon tea. I ended up choosing the Afternoon Tea experience which included salad and soup in addition to the traditional 3-tiered tea tray and scones. After I paid my deposit, Sarah worked with me on the menu for my tea. They have so many choices for each item - sandwiches, scones, soups, salad dressings, sweets - but it was a lot of fun choosing the items. Sarah also reconfirmed that I wanted to use my tea sets, because they have everything for the tea party if you don't - teacups, saucers, silverware, linens, dishes, etc. They also need access to a full kitchen, so they can set up everything. Sarah contacted me regularly and answered any questions I had as well leading up to the event date. Exactly at the appointed time, about 90 minutes before my tea party, Sarah and her sister (Rebecca the pastry chef) showed up wearing cute floral aprons and then unpacked the tea in my kitchen. When I say they brought everything, they really brought everything. They brought their own dish soap to clean the dishes, and tea towels, and gallons of water and ice, and all the dishes. I didn't have to do a thing. They set the table for tea, and it looked stunning. In fact, when I posted pictures afterwards, one of my friends asked what restaurant I was at, that's how amazing it looked. My friends started to arrive, and everyone was very impressed with the table as well. As each Guest sat down, Sarah or Rebecca came out of the kitchen and asked them what tea they would like from a very large selection of Tea Forte pyramid steep flavors and then each person got their own pot of tea. Throughout the party, the Yellow Rose Tea team kept my Guests filled up with tea, replacing tea bags, recommending new ones, and topping off hot water in the pots, and rinsing them out if a different type of tea was requested. From the first course of fresh salads with two types of dressings, to the yummy potato leek soup, to the cranberry orange scones with clotted cream and two types of jam, to the 3-tiered trays filled with sandwiches, pastries, muffins, and sweets, all the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The team timed everything and would serve the courses and then take everything away when we completed that course. It was like being a guest in my own home. Also, I clearly ordered too much food, so there were quite a few sweet items left on the top tier of the trays, and the team offered carryout boxes so everyone could take their leftovers home! As my friends kept saying, the Yellow Rose Tea team thought of everything. As my friends started to leave, the team cleaned up all the dishes and even cleaned my teacups and left my kitchen exactly how it had been. I can't say enough about how wonderful an experience this was. Sarah and Rebecca did a fantastic job, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

I got the taro brown sugar specialty milk tea at 50% sweetness with boba. It was the BEST milk tea that my husband or I had ever had! The sweetness was perfect, the flavor was delicious, and the boba was fresh and soft. It was also the most expensive that I've ever had at almost $10 after a tip. I look forward to trying some of the other things there. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++!
