It always seems like there is a really relaxed vibe and the low lighting and heated bar really add to this experience. I used to think that The Abbey was just a bar (by no means a bad thing!) but I stopped in for lunch and had a spectacular pulled pork sandwich a few days ago. Dare I say it... The best pulled pork sandwich in downtown Menomonie?! The sauce sounds like it would be weird because there is mustard in it but I can confirm that it is delicious and really makes the sandwich. Props to The Abbey for having a limited menu and having a few really good dishes instead of a bunch of average bar food. Apart from the atmosphere, food and staff there are really good drink specials at The Abbey as well! Every day there is a near unbearable special. When school is in session these deals are definitely taken advantage of by the Stout students. If I had to credit this place for just one thing it would be that the building itself is such a relaxing place. No flashing lights, no overly loud music and no amateur DJ screaming at the top of their lungs like other bars in Menomonie. Even yet, if inside is a little too much you can always step out onto the patio. If you're looking for a relaxed cocktail in Menomonie this is your place.

And just when you think your whole day is shot because the slaw has broccoli (we know that Wisconsinites loathe anything that did not have parents) bam - there's bacon in it! Abbey (from the Abbey) is the coolest Abbey I know. Much cooler than any other Abbey, including Westminster and Downton. My dog enjoys the back patio where she can chill and dream about all the wonderful smells that waft from the kitchen. The sandwiches are amazing. The drinks are made well and the free chaser is like a prize my liver didn't know it won.

The service was fast and accurate as our very friendly server NATHAN R professionally cared for us. When the food arrived quickly we were delighted to find that the items we chose were outstanding. My wife's chicken wrap was more like a log because it was so filled with the tasty ingredients. My sandwich was my first time for a BLT that had two added ingredients: an over-easy fried egg and a slice of cheddar cheese. It was delicious. In fact, I will request the egg and cheese on future BLT's. And no, the traditional BLT flavor was not overwhelmed by the added flavors, it was enhanced! All in all, our dining experience was excellent and the added bonus of reasonable prices. When we get near Menomonee we will dine here again!

The beer was great. The food was even better (lemony stick-its with house made tzatziki are a must) and the service was something I have not experienced since pre-Covid times. The staff was young and cute, but had exceptional customer service skills. They were talkative and friendly, so much so that I felt like I was at home already and needed to just move here before the weekend ended. Facility is clean, updated, and welcoming. 10/10 recommend eating, drinking, and hanging out here. I even Text messaged coworkers and friends and told them to go out of their way to fly into Minneapolis when they had to make the trip out here as well so that they could stop in. We didn't really know what to expect but thought we'd give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised in the quality of the food. We all got burgers and fries except for one of us who chose the healthy option and selected coleslaw, which was also very tasty. My personal selection was the Hangover burger which was delicious. Service was also very good. Olivia was very attentive to our needs and even helped clear up a mix-up at the end when we ordered a dessert to go. Thanks Olivia! If I had any complaints, it would be the inconsistent quality of the ketchup. There were 7 of us at our table and we ran out of ketchup. We ended up using the ketchup bottles from a few tables around us and some of them were just downright foul tasting. I'm not sure what the issue is here, but definitely room for improvement. This was our first time at the Stout Ale House. I'd be willing to try it again to see if the experience stays consistent.

We brought a small bag of McDonald's in with us and after we'd been seated the manager stormed up to our table saying "we're a restaurant. You can't have outside food. You need to leave." In shock but understanding we said "we understand but our son only eats McNuggets and we're going to order." She angrily says "you need to leave. Go eat in your car". All 4 adults stood there dumbfounded and said "I'm sorry?" And again she barks "I'm not asking. I'm telling. You have to leave". We had every intention of ordering food and drinks and only needed our son to eat something. I get if you need outside food to be left outside but I've never been so aggressively approached and yelled at without giving a chance to agree to leave before being told to eat in my car and get out Never again at this place.
