Can't say enough good things about these guys. Extremely helpful, professional and quick service. It also feels good to support a local company. They came to pick up junk from our garage in Dunbar - I mentioned that I also had some old kitchen cabinets in the house and they took them without any issues. The cost is calculated by the weight so you know you're not getting ripped off. There was an extra cost for mattresses (they informed us of this ahead of time) because they get charged when they bring it to the dump. FYI, I had originally hoped they would do a pick-up the same day (a Thursday), but they were booked through the weekend, so you will possibly have to make a reservation a few days ahead of time during the summer. read more

They were very easy to work with and how they charge was explained to me very clearly. I then booked a day for pick up, left a pile in my backyard, and when I got home it was gone. Easy! This company is awesome! I found these guys through Yelp, and I'm so glad I did! Right from the moment I called and spoke to Maria, I could tell that this was a professional crew outfit that I was dealing with. Their costs are transparent and were explained over the phone. Their prices are beyond reasonable and better than all of the other companies I scoped out. I knew the exact range of prices that I might be expecting, since the actual price is based on weight and wouldn't be determined until the day of pick up. I actually ended up paying almost $200 less than what I was expecting to pay when I was looking at the competition. They were punctual (early, even), and called to let me know that they were coming beforehand. Everyone that I interacted with, Maria, Miguel and Alex - were all very accommodating, personable and had great customer service skills. They were uniformed when they arrived, and were pretty efficient - the job was done in 10-15 minutes (for 15 boxes of material). Oh! And they recycle as much as possible - which was good because my haul was a bunch of computer towers and related equipment. That's really important to me. These junk boys are just like God sent to us, when we were in a desperate situation, to deliver our vacant house to the new owner by the month end, on April 30. My husband is a hoarder, having accumulated stuff in our house and the two garages for over a decade plus, unwilling to part with these belongings, when everyone sees them as junk! It is a nightmare for any junk removal team! However, Scott and Alex were extremely patient with my husband, Alex acted as a pseudo counsellor in the whole process, helping my husband to finally let go and allow the boys to remove the stuff in time for our commitment of delivering an empty house within just a few days! Scott's team is a group of marvellous young men, clean cut and courteous, all dressed in tidy uniform when they showed up at the door. They packed everything so neatly and tidily into the truck, so that one truck load of stuff is more efficient than one and half truck loads of other junk removal companies. Their trucks are very clean, looking quite new. The most important thing is they charge by the weight of the junk they remove. The truck is a gigantic scale, showing the weight it carries. The whole process is very transparent. The boys won't even take tips when I wanted to give it out of my appreciation! When they found cash and valuables among our piles of stuff, they would alert me! I have hired 505 for the third time now, and every single time they are professional, friendly, and reliable. The pricing is very reasonable, and I even received a promotional discount without even asking for one. The booking agent call back on the same day and after my email request, and I was able to book an appointment for a few days later. On the day of, they called and offered an earlier time slot because their drivers were in the neighbourhood and running early, and I was happy to take an earlier slot since I was home anyway. Two staff came, both wore masks and asked if I wanted their shoes off inside. They were quick and efficient, 305lbs of junk, including some pretty heavy broken electronics were taken away in about 20 mins. I highly recommend this company for your removal needs. Both were very friendly, personable and courteous, and worked quickly and efficiently without complaint.(even when loading a huge, old and cumbersome tv that weighed a few hundred pounds.)I was impressed that they mentioned what a good company it was they worked for, and how nice all the employees are. Great attitude from two young guys. Management is fortunate to have them on the payroll. Want to give a big shout out to Scott, Spencer and Jordan at 505 Junk Richmond. We sent some pictures and got a quote to remove a pile of sod and some really poor dirt from our front yard. Sadly when the job was done, it cost us almost twice the quote. Never having done this before.....who knew dirt could weigh so much! That said they worked with us and checked in periodically regarding the surprising weights (more sand than soil) and in the end negotiated a price that was workable for us.... but probably cost them too. Can't say enough about how reasonable and professional everyone was. Amazing level of customer service. Would highly recommend this company, and will use them again. Next time however, I'll start the day with a "stop at this weight" price to be fair to everyone. Many thanks to Spencer and Jordan. Very personable and hard working.....10,000 pounds got moved! We're in the middle of renovating our place and had three bulky items that we would have had to rent a van if we wanted to look after the disposal. The movers arrived on time and were both friendly and very polite. Given that removal is charged by the pound, it wasn't that much more of an additional cost to us to hire someone to do the heavy lifting, especially as it saved us a lot of time (and our backs). I had an old (and very heavy) couch I tried to remove with a friend but it proved difficult. So at 1 AM I booked an appointment for the very next day, I wasn't expecting a response, I just submitted it just in case. The very next morning at 8 AM, they gave me a call and were at my apartment less than 45 minutes later. They removed the couch in less than 10 minutes, and the whole process was easy and painless and the price was very reasonable considering the weight of the couch. They gave me a 30 mins heads up when they were going to come and even called back to let me know they were running a little behind because of traffic. Very impressed with 505-Junk and especially the two young men who came to haul away my 'junk'. One of the items being hauled away was a full size canoe that had been sitting at the side of the house for the past 14+ years! The thing was too long to fit and the challenge was trying to break or cut it in half. It was a struggle but the guys were determined to make it fit in their truck and were successful. Great positive can-do attitude from the two guys! They swept up the mess on the road from sawing the canoe in half. Very reasonable pricing for the amount hauled. Really great service and an easy to understand process from end to end. I'd done some reading on the website so had a general idea of how it worked and since I read the great yelp reviews they were the first company I called for a quote. Scott on the phone was friendly, patient, and provided additional detail and explanation of the process. He diligently listened as a railed off a list of junk and gave me a pretty good estimate of the weight and potential cost. He even noted down the $10 discount for me when I mentioned their good reviews on Yelp, which I wasn't aware of and I really felt his offering to put it on without my request spoke to the honesty and integrity of the company and its staff. Scott even helped us reduce the cost/rate by indicating that the more there was in the garage already, the less likely they would have to charge us the indoor/house/apartment rates. Once we'd discussed over the phone, email confirmations were sent very quickly and responses when I added/removed items or enquired for confirmation of rates were also dealt with very speedily. On the day of, the two removal men were courteous, helpful, and even helped one of our neighbours move two shelves that our neighbour wanted to take if we were just going to bin them. Again they showed their honesty when they charged us only for the one mattress which had springs and would require special disposal. They also took great care in the clean-up. Overall we paid less than what we were quoted and there was no issue with how there was less than we had described/estimated over the phone. Called in yesterday and got excellent service from the rep and I was able to get the last appointment day. Couldn't have been happier. We have used Got Junk two or three times and found 505-Junk to be better in service, sorting and keeping some good stuff to take to Salvation Army and pricing. I would say about $150 or more better. They did a nice job in sweeping up and one of them was very kind to assist me in a little job outside of the Junk removal. They were efficient, friendly and very nice to do business with. The company was sincerely interested in our hauling job, and a generous price range was provided based on the likely weight of the items on the list that I submitted. Alex and Brian loaded the stuff in under 20 minutes. The truck's embedded scale enables the customer to decide how much to send based on accumulating weight as items are added. Despite our feeling immense guilt about inflicting so much pure junk on the landfill even though we had already recycled everything possible at our local depot, this company has forged relationships with the transfer station and our local recycling depot such that we felt assured that they do the job right.
