Not sure if its good experience for 10 yrs old child.. but we decided to check it out. We paid & try Dragon. YO. WAIT... we instantly having a FUN! Hands on experience, teamwork, & communicate. This was a lot of fun and the staff was so, so nice! Highly recommend for those looking to break up their escape room habit with something more physical. My husband and I did the dragon-themed room and the Egyptian-themed room. The dragon one was our favorite, but both were fun and had really cool mechanics. This place was so much fun! It is great for groups. As soon as my group entered we were greeted politely and given a quick rundown on how everything works. Instead of hovering around us the staff went off to the side to give us space until we needed them. Then after we were ready we were given more details on the different adventures they offer and they are all creative options. We chose the dragon quest and we were challenged at every turn which kept us on our toes. We will definitely be returning to be apart of another adventure! read more

So much fun! Escape the room, but before it blew up, I guess, plus the added bonus of it being MUCH more immersive. Clearly geared toward a younger crowd, this seems like a family friendly spot at the mall. Regardless, our group of four ~20 year olds had fun (lol if anything we were still scared, but I'm not sure if that speaks to the level of fear factor in the experience or how completely wimpy we are). Expect to dart back and forth in small rooms a lot, as if you've completely forgotten that you're actually just in a mall in Syracuse and not starring in your own action filled PG-13 movie. There's a deal of 50% off your second adventure, wish we'd taken advantage of that by coming earlier in the day. Staff was great! John (I think) was really welcoming. I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. Just to start. THIS IS FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN! I felt the need to yell that. I had a hard time reviewing this one since most of my reviews are about food. Which saying that out loud (really in my head because I would seem pretty crazy if I were to be saying this all out load as I wrote it) makes me feel like I might want to cut back so as to lose a few pounds. This place did not offer delicious appetizers or entrees because it's not a restaurant. This is a fun little adventure place. I have never been to an escape room but I think this is what they are like. So my first experience was a good one. My wonderful better half and I did the espionage and deep space adventures. Both were a blast. We did the Deep Space one first and got through it in 31 minutes. We were both a little sweaty by the end but laughing and having a good time. The video was a little corny but it's probably as good as it gets. I would have loved to see a video of us running around trying to figure out the rooms. It was funny as hell I am sure. The espionage adventure was good too. I did not enjoy it as much as the Deep space adventure but still worth the time. Again the videos were corny but I am sure that kids would love the whole experience. There are a few more adventures to do and some time we shall return and do those as well. It was a fun way to spend an hour. Give it a try for a date night or take the kids to get out of the house on a cold day in Syracuse. Which there usually are a lot. read more

5 Wits is legit. Go here! Don't hesitate! It is so fun and the space is much larger than you'd imagine from seeing it at the lobby area. I've been to 5 Wits in Albany but the one in Syracuse has one room that the Albany location doesn't: the spy adventures room. This isn't your typical escape room where you're stuck in a single square room and need to find numbers to unlock a bike or locker lock. Instead, it's an interactive themed space with a lot of physical puzzle pieces, voices overheard, moving parts, lights, various rooms you enter, and much more. I'd say this place may be scary for kids under 8. I did the tomb room here, and had already done it in Albany, and was still scared even though I knew exactly what to expect. I've done all the rooms with just 2 people total but it'd definitely be more ideal with a group of 3-4. With more than 4, it'd probably be a lot easier but the challenge is what makes it fun. With 2 people, you might be running around a lot more frantically. I'd definitely recommend saving money by buying the package with the most room options. Each room is drastically different from the next. No puzzle is alike. I much prefer this style of escape rooms over the typical ones you have with combination codes. This is a great option for date night or for kids' birthday parties. They have a side room you can reserve and book parties for. I believe they have pizza packages and balloons. I know that kids in Sherburne come here for field trips. read more

I have to agree with all the other reviews of this place - it was loads of fun. We tried the Dragon experience, and really enjoyed it. All the puzzles were reasonable and we enjoyed the challenge of completing the riddles before the time was up. They were clever riddles, and we had to use some of the hints, but we were able to complete all the puzzles in time. I wish we had more time to try the other rooms. Me and my family were booking a time slot at 7:20 and as we were buying the time slot this white lady, who i assume is a manager came up to the employee and said that we were unable to book the time slot due to someone else grabbing it on the computer. She was very rude about it and told us that we took too long. Yet we were there first and the lady told the employee to take away the time slot from us and give it to the customer on the computer. I had a very bad time after that and I was looking forward to buy an escape room and experience with my family. This was our first time in Destiny Mall and I am sad to say that this ruined my experience. That is why I am leaving one star. I feel as if they should accommodate to there customer needs. My daughter & I have now been through all 4 adventures and I can definitely say we would (probably will) do them all again. They are all awesome in their own way. I would recommend the Dragon Castle for families with younger children if you have to pick just one. If you have the chance to do more, definitely take advantage of any money saving opportunities they have & do them. The Tomb rooms were slightly scary for my 8year old, but not too much. This is a kid free review as we did this as a corporate event. We had a party of 12 and split between two rooms to 'race.' The process to book was simple and the staff when we arrived were friendly and ready for us. The game difficulty was good too for adults- with 6 in a room we found that the perfect amount for this. We did the castle and deep space found the rooms to be entertaining and the right amount of difficulty. Fun was had by all and the price was on point too! We did Dragon castle with our 6 and 9 year old girls it was great. They even have a restroom there for customers which is great when you have kids plus they have a family bathroom. We went in as a group of 4 I think we pretty much failed all the tasks lol but we had so much fun. This was such a cool activity and it's different entertainment then you're used to. And I mean that in a good way. I felt like I was at Disney or something while doing both espionage and tomb. You use your problem solving skills to figure out clues and do puzzles to either escape a room or beat the bad guy etc.This was a lot cooler than I had expected if I'm being honest. The staff was very attentive and helpful. We were in Syracuse for 2 days and they have a deal where if you do two of their activities in the same day the second is half off however our feet we're killing us after 7 hours in the mall and my girlfriend was wearing boots with heels so we asked if we came back first thing in the morning if they would be willing to help us out and give us the activity half off and they were nice enough to do so. The activity is a five star experience and the staff would get 10 Stars if I could give it to him. read more

When it comes to must see destinations, 5-Wits should be on the top of your list when you visit or live in Syracuse! I have been here quite a few times and in different formats. The first time I came here was with family and we all did the espionage and tomb adventure. It was incredibly fun and a perfect family outing. It can get a little competitive when your trying to show your cousins that you know how to solve the puzzle faster! The second time I came here was during a special event where we did all four adventures. I am literally kicking myself over the fact that I hadn't tried the castle and space adventure yet. They were so amazing and well put together! The narration was beyond on point. You feel like your really going into a castle and you feel like your actually on a space ship. Yes...I sat in the captains chair barking orders out for the first minute. Recently, I came back again and did all the adventures all over again just to see how consistent the experience was. The staff they have are as good as it gets when it comes to keeping you in the adventure. This time I went with a few friends and my wife and had a blast. While this doesn't seem like a good thing, my team didn't do near as well as it did when I was here during an event. Had a fun time tonight with my Yelp friends at 5Wits. The staff are friendly and welcoming and explain the adventures prior to entering the rooms. I had no idea what to expect, so had an open mind. This would be a great family adventure, as the activities are good for all ages. My 10 year old granddaughter would love the dragon room, narrated by a princess. Even with only an adult group, we had a good time. They have specials with some of the mall restaurants and give you discounts with restaurant receipts. We really enjoyed the experience. *Price was very reasonable and you get a better deal if you do more than 1 of the 4 attractions. Each runs for approx 15-30 minutes. *Each attraction is very immersive and the puzzles are just right in terms of overall difficulty for kids and adults alike. *Very viable for smaller and larger groups as some of the attractions are easier if you have at least 3-4 folks. *Staff was very friendly and gave us a full run down as we were first timers. Great place to visit if you're looking for something fun to do at Syracuse! I came with a group of 4 friends and at first I was skeptical about trying all 4 adventures so we opted for the 2 adventure deal instead. We tried drago's castle and deep space for our first two (I'd definitely recommend these two if you were to pick two) and then we decided that we wanted to also go for the last 2 adventures, the tomb and espionage. They allowed us to add on the last 2 adventures as if we were buying the 4 adventure deal to begin with which was great that there were no extra fees. I'd say a group of 4+ would be ideal to get through each room. Each adventure is approximately 30 minutes long so we spent about 2 hours here. The staff were all super friendly. I am glad that this was my first "escape the room" experience because we all had a lot of fun! read more

I brought my children here for a "kid date". They are 9, 12, and 12. My youngest is sensitive and was a little scared at some of the attractions. Although everything was safe and not at all scary for an adult, the role playing of the overhead speaker was very real to the 9 year old. I have done these attractions before and there have been no changes to them over the past two years at least. It is a good time, a bit pricey but worth doing once a year or so. More frequently would spoil the surprise factor in the puzzles. I would recommend for children over the age of 12 or at least for a child who does not scare easy. read more

Had heard good things about 5 Wits from several friends who had brought their kids here over the past year. Stopped by with my 11 year old son recently during a day off from school. We were able to get right in and experience the "Deep Space" and then "Espionage" adventures. Don't want to reveal too much of what's inside, but there is plenty of physical as well as mental challenges to involve all of your senses. It obviously helps if you have more in your party to do the obstacles/challenges. Each adventure lasts about 30 minutes and coats roughly $13 each to do. The plus is that they give you discounts if you stick around and do multiple adventures. When you come out you can see your "score" or in our case- how poorly you did on the challenge."! My son was very pleased which means he'll be begging me to return again soon. read more

WHY IS THE STAFF JUST HANGING OUT INSTEAD IF MAKING SURE THE ADVENTURES WORK. This is my second time here. The first time I had a blast. The first time everything was working and the employees were great. Now for my second visit.... The employees were just there they seemed to be checked out. They did not care that I was there with my wife and kids. They were just chatting amongst each other not really giving us any attention. Not one of them tried to explain anything to us or any of the other people waiting in line. It kinda looked like a carnival ride where the ticket taker takes your ticket and let's u on the ride. The employee would just open the door and the rope gate for the adventure and make sure you dropped your coin in the box and then let you in. While waiting last time they would tell you about each adventure well not this time we just all stood there as if we were waiting to get a merry go round. When we were in an adventure all the props were old and banged up some of the stuff was broken some of the electric puzzles were not working. I even looked up at one of the cameras in the room with my hands in the air because we solved the puzzle but it still would not let us pass that part. Then the clues were exactly the way we had it. After finishing I tried telling the employees they responded with an oh well it worked the last time and no one has said anything. They did not offer money back or even to do another adventure they could have just given us tokens for another time. I guess they were all to busy hanging out or just don't care. The place needs some serious maintenance this stuff is used over and over things will break. Why is the staff hanging out instead of making things work. read more

Me and my family did 2 adventures, the Tomb and the Dragon Castle. The games were overall fun, but there were some technical issues that took away from the experience. Out of our 5 flashlights in Tomb, only 3 worked well at the beginning and one was flickering really badly. I have to say, the adventures are pretty fun and unique. HOWEVER, they have a "general admission policy" which is not well advertised... This means that if you have a group on the smaller size, it is very very likely that you will be grouped with another group, no matter if you know them or not or if they have children or not. I was there with two friends and we waited for almost thirty minutes, being told by one gentleman that we would be able to go by ourselves the next round, having let two groups go ahead of us. When it was our turn, a different gentleman came up and refused to let us go through just by ourselves, and was going to force us to participate with a group that had just arrived, which was the only other group waiting. That group included several adults and 5 young children who couldn't even keep still or obey their parents during the 3 minutes they had been waiting. Even with the general manager, we were not allowed to participate alone with our group. It would have involved the group waiting another ten minutes. Now, while the website doesn't explicitly say anything about their general admission policy it does specifically say the experiences are designed to be challenging and fun for adults. Having done one adventure before, I find it extremely unlikely that it would be fun and enjoyable with strangers children running around dark rooms trying to complete puzzles. There is an element of teamwork involved and to do it with strangers is one thing, still not preferable, but to do it with strangers and their children.... I don't think so. And.... As a business policy I think it's completely illogical... why would I come back and spend more money at 5 wits if I'm going to be combined in another group with strangers and children?? Totally negates the experience for paying adults. Why can't you just let people wait.... It would've been another 10-12 minutes at the max! I don't think that's unreasonable. Anyway... No doubt 5 wits is fun, but their policies can really completely negate a fun, challenging experience involving teamwork in a group of your choice. read more

5 Wits is one of the best experiences I've ever had in a mall. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the establishment itself is incredibly well-kept. As far as escape rooms go, the rooms were fantastic. 4 different plots with differing difficulty levels made for an incredible time. I have been here on 2 separate occasions, because after I did it the first time, I absolutely had to come back again. The fact the the escape rooms have technology and multiple rooms you go through made it all the more impressive. I've done another escape room where you stay in one room for 45 mins-1 hour and it has nothing on 5 Wits. Whenever someone mentions an escape room, I always suggest 5 Wits because I know they won't be disappointed. Also, the price is incredibly fair! While it may be ~$18 for one room, doing all 4 rooms is like $32. I think it is well worth it for the amount of excitement and time you spend (20-30 mins) in each room. The only thing I dislike about it is that the rooms are easy to remember, not every detail, but at least the progression and slight clues you need to make it through. In my 2 different outings to 5 wits, almost 2 years apart, I still found myself able to remember what actions needed to be taken at certain points in the escape. I know it is hard for the rooms themselves to change, but that is the only thing I wish could be improved upon. read more
