I got my nails done here twice. The first time, I got dip nails, something I had never gotten before. While I loved how my nails themselves looked, my fingers were cut, painful, and messy. Thinking it was a one-time thing, I went back for gel nails. Somehow I left that appointment worse off. My fingers were bleeding, painful, and my nails are uneven. I requested a rejuvenating pedicure and got what would be more like a standard pedicure just using slightly different products. My time from start to finish was only 36 minutes including my person stopping and starting to get supplies. My chair was not working and no one cared to fix it or move me. When I got the paraffin she immediately put my feet in without the normal cool down and burned my feet. Again my person was not the least bit concerned despite my pleas that she was burning me. The final straw was she left nail polish all over my skin around the nails and didn't bother to take it off. This was a terrible experience to say the least. Cost $55 for this. read more

I've been to so many nail salons and this is by far the worst experiences I have had. I came here yesterday to get my mani pedi done. I am greatly disappointed with their service. Not even joking, I spent a total of three hours between waiting and service. I get it, sometimes nail salon gets busy. However, costumer service is so important to me. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure, total was $60, which is not cheap. The lady that did my nails was texting for a long time and didn't seem to care I was just sitting in front of her waiting. After awhile, she started paying attention to me. She did a good job as of design and all and I absolutely love my nails. The only thing was that she wasn't paying attention a lot of times. I then got sent to pedicure station, and everything was fine, except the painting job on my toes was bad, I definitely could of done a better job myself. read more

Came here with a couple friends to get mani pedis and they took the 3 of us right away. The place is very clean and you don't have to worry about sanitation here. They have bags over the pedicure bath that replace for each person! I'm a person who loves short round nails and they had no problem accommodating it. I chose a glittery gold and the nail technician made sure that each part was thoroughly covered so you couldn't see through it, taking her time and using a small brush to fill in the gaps. I did the middle ground pedicure and the massage was a good length which is something you don't get too often. Overall I'm extremely happy and would def come here again. I to edit this review from a 5 to a 3, while my nails were great my friends that came didn't have the same experience. The one girls finger almost looked infected and required antibiotic ointment to be applied multiple times a day and the other girl had a chunk of her skin taken off as well. Was constantly burned when the lady was fixing my nails, when she was done with the shape (not what I wanted) she told me the clear idea that I wanted would look bad and so did 2 other ladies even though it's not their choice and proceeded to put ugly glitter lines in a V instead, told the lady it was horrible. She then told me that silver foil wouldn't stay and that she wouldn't do that either. So then I just asked for white flowers on the ring hoping it would be better and they still look bad. Only giving this place one star because Alan whom only works on the weekends is absolutely amazing at doing nails. But the last three times I've been here he was not there, the women that did my nails last was named Lee! DO NOT GET HER. She did my nails completely uneven as well as the fill-in is lumpy and the polish is lumpy.. absolutely disgusted paying 45$!!!! On top of that a 93 year old women and her great grand- daughter walked in right before me. The 93 year old women had an appointment, and the blonde girl that runs the shop told her the guy just called and canceled said he was sick and not coming in. The blonde girl was kinda rude to her and stated that she has another person to do her nails. The women had an appointment regardless. So why not be honorable and call the women and cancel?! Which I learned they do this often to people that have appointments, On top of their awful service. I will NEVER go back to this place. I tried to tell the person who was doing my pedicure to put my sandals on rather than their oversized foam sandals because my feet are small and I knew their sandal would mess my nails up. So, one the paint job was horrible and not neat, the sandals messed my big toe up twice the person tried to wipe a tad off leaving a lumpy mess until I told him to wipe the entire thing off. I was looking forward to the same quality experience that I had been getting from this salon for the past few years when I went in for my pedi and fill today. I was sadly disappointed and will be looking for a new salon. I was asked to sit in a pedi chair and then later asked to move as that chair was not working. Once seated in the new chair, the water was excessively hot and when the tech was informed, did nothing to change the water temp. The jets on this chair were not working so did not have a relaxing jet experience for the pedi. I had to ask twice and still did not receive what I was asking for in which was to trim the corners of my toenails. My full experience was just as bad and for just a basic color on my nails, I have jagged corners and polish was not put on the ends of my nails. The establishment was VERY beautiful. Very modern, and well equipped. A LARGE selection of polish to choose from. They even had 2 cute designed child pedicure chairs. So cool for the little girl who wants to go with Mom and get her nails done too. Prices were competitive. I would give it a solid 5 star if my nails didn't have more than 3 flaws in them. I was there today for the first time in about a year and the management has changed. There was a baby in the waiting room with what appeared to be his great grandfather. I have never been in a nail salon where children were allowed unless they were getting a mani or pedi. The baby was fussy and the grandfather admonishing him was loud. I left when the grandmother decided to change the baby in her lap in the waiting area. Not cool 5 Star! You should not have allowed this and I will not return because of it. read more

I moved to York two years ago and went to several different nail salons. I would always have to go back for repairs of chipped or broken nails. I found 5 Star Nails and Kevin (the owner) recommended to take off the existing acrylic and start fresh. I NEVER have to go back for repairs! The are strong and last for two to three weeks until my next appointment! The salon is very, very clean and the staff are hard working and friendly. I have frequented this salon a few times because my regular salon was unavailable. I have to say in all of my 25 + years of getting nails done, this salon is the worst. They are rude, rough on the nails and outrageously expensive. Today my daughter and I got nails and pedicures done. I was given a bill of $150 for the two of us. I have never spent this much on nails. They charge $15 extra for gel polish!(that was $60 more just for gel on fingers and toes) Buyer beware!!! Not the best in nail colors if you don't get OPI the polish doesn't stay on longer then 1 day and when you go back, they will charge you again for a polish change..even after you paid $37.00 just 1 day ago so customer satisfaction is not important to them . I went here to gel a gel manicure, they are Chinese as most nail salons and didn't speak amazing English. Which had me confused at some points. Overall they seamed professional, and did a good job, although some spots weren't perfect. My appointment took about an hour and costed $25. It was quiet and sort of awkward but I overall had a good experience and I love my nails. read more

I am originally from Baltimore, MD and moved to York, PA 6 years ago. I have been to a few different nail salons and I was not impressed. I recently moved to Red Lion in York County and went to 5 Star Nails with my daughter for the 1st time a few weeks ago and I have to say that I was very impressed with salon. They were CLEAN and they were very welcoming, and they knew what they were doing. My daughter and I went back again today for Fill-Ins, and we still got the same greeting and felt welcomed to be there. Kevin, the owner, is amazing. He greets every person that comes through the door. He makes you feel welcomed. There was one lady there, that apparently goes there all the time, and the relationship that they have with her, is outstanding. I was paying attention to every little detail although it may have looked like I was preoccupied reading a book. Michelle is the one that did my nails; both times that I have been there. She is amazing as well and such a sweet lady. When I was sitting under the nail dryer, I was watching how the Pedicurist was tending to her clients. She was amazing as well. I watched how she would clean and prepare for the next person to sit at her station. She scrubbed and cleaned the bowl after each person. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! And the fact that nobody knew that I was watching, was even better. I've have always been sort of a watcher without you knowing that I was watching your every move. I honestly would recommend this Nail Salon to any and everyone looking to get pampered for their weekly or bi-weekly nail care. I'm already looking forward to going back in 2 weeks with my daughter. I've visited two separate occasions and won't return. The first time, I had a pedicure with a male technician who was very rushed and not gentle with me. I, like many others who enjoy pedicures, come to relax and unwind. That's hard to do when your technician is yelling across the room to communicate with coworkers. The second time was the worst nail salon experience Ive ever had. The female technician I was assigned to was very rude when I showed her a photo on my phone of the design I wanted. She laughed at me and asked me why I wanted that particular design several times. She took a phone call not long after she started, put her phone her speaker, and continued to converse loudly for 10-15 minutes. Several of my nails had polish right up onto my skin. Her fingers were dirty and she was very rough and gave no attention to detail. As for my pedicure that followed, she was barely even watching what she was doing half the time, because she was preoccupied by watching a technician three chairs down. The pedicure was rushed and not relaxing, it didn't feel good. This may be the second, if not third review I've ever written. It takes a lot for me to write a review. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I've never had such an awful experience as I did on January 7th, 2016. I went to get a fill and 2 nails repaired. The owner was insisting on taking off my remaining 8 nails that weren't damaged or lifting so they would all be new. I told him if this is what he was going to insist on then I'm going to go somewhere else. He replied yelling at me saying "fine go now!" Ok, I'm out. I was so irritated and mumbled to myself "f*** this" as I was walking out of the salon. Kevin, the OWNER, yells "f*** you!" To me as I'm walking out of the salon. As I'm walking across the parking lot, he opens the door and yells out the door "F*** you!" To me again! Seriously? You're the owner and you're just trying to push more services on me that I DO NOT NEED. I tell you they're not needed and just need two repaired. You don't want my money for what I would like because I KNOW my nails and that the rest are fine. You're just greedy and want more money. I will NEVER go to this salon again. I will never recommend this salon to anyone, EVER. I have even filled out a complaint with the state. read more
