Another gourmet hot dog place! I sense a trend. This one is smack bang in the action, next to the 24 hour Maccas in the Valley Mall. Once again I face the eternal question: is a gourmet hot doc actually that much different to the everyday hot dog? In this case, the answer is still...not really. The 5 dogs hot dogs feature sauerkraut and have some different sauce and sausage options, but all in all my German hot dog still tasted like a hot dog. It was still yummy, but a little expensive in my opinion at $8.50 (50c extra is charged for cheese). Another option for next time you're having an urgent hot dog craving.

I used to eat a lot of it back home and haven't found a good place that sells it in Bris so I was pretty ecstatic about that.

Maybe it was years working in a donut and hot dog store as a bright young teenager that put me off…read morehot dogs for an eternity. But Snag Stand have created a "haute dog" that makes me forget those years long enough to order and surprisingly enjoy the "sausage in a bun" before me. Sure it's fast food, but at $9.90 they pack a lot of quality ingredients into a cheap and quick take-away option. Hanger levels were rising last week when I ran through the Queens Plaza food court. Note to self: don't walk through a food court when you're hangry. Scanning the choices, Snag Stand seemed a reasonable choice given I hadn't had the chance to try them at the Yelper Party. I ordered the chicken and rocket hot dog and was given a buzzer (so RSL, loved it). My order was made fresh and my buzzer promptly alerted me to its arrival. The hot dog itself? Fresh, tasty and not at all the idea that I have of a hot dog. There was no greasy ick feeling after eating and the rocket, tomato and red onion is a fresh-food kick more hot dogs need.

Snag Stand describes itself as a "gourmet sausage grill" and "the home of heavenly haute dogs"…read more With those words I was intrigued. Located in Queens Plaza's Food court, taking over from the old Crepe Cafe, I had to try this for myself. Their menu has standard mouthwatering options on offer with delectable descriptions to match, such as the "American Classic", "German Bratwurst", "Currywurst", "Spicy Spanish Chorizo", through to the "Australia fare". Ranging from $6.90 to the more fancy "Wagyu Beef" at $10.90. You can go with the DIY option, and choose your own roll (Brioche, Rustic or Poppy Seed), your choice of sausage, and toppings at $1.00 each, (from sauteed onions to house made sauerkraut or coopes ale bbq sauce to name a few). Gluten Free rolls attract an additional $1.00 and for the health concious you can go naked..no not you, but the snag! So no bun but with your choice of salad and grilled sausage for $9.90. I decided to play it safe and boring, going with the American Classic. A "wood smoked frankfurter with american yellow mustard, tomato sauce, onions & sweet relish on a toasted brioche roll" for only $6.90. Service was friendly, and amazingly quick. Especially useful for those days when you don't have much time for lunch. As for the "gourmet" hot-dog? It was okay. It didn't blow my mind as I had hoped. The sausage (the main attraction in any hot-dog performance), was pretty bland and dry, maybe even undercooked. The saving grace was the toasted brioche roll, which had a slight sweetness to it, and with the relish, mustard, onions and sauce combining to give it a bit of life. For $6.90 and its size, it was relatively good value. So is Snag Stand really "gourmet" and home for "heavenly haute dogs" or just cleverly marketed? A bit of both. But I will definitely try them again, and not just because the Homer Simpson in me wants to. There's enough there on the menu to suggest that there can be a party in my mouth next time.

First time I tried the big kahuna burger and I didn't know how to even attempt to eat it because it looked about a foot high. Once I decided on a game plan for trying to get my mouth around it I realised just how good it was. I'm not going to lie, this is one heck of a messy burger to eat but it's well worth the amount of napkins needed to clean you up once finished. Everything on this bad boy just worked so well together, plus the meat patties are so yummy. Others had the Little league burger and there is nothing little about it. She swapped the sauce for their signature burger sauce and it tasted amazing. The big league was also a huge hit. We also got a side of macncheese and it was massive and very yummy. I got The King milkshake and this is not a drink for the faint hearted but I just had to try it. Banana, maple syrup, bacon and ice cream. Very sweet and best shared. Oh how could I almost forget their amazing fries. We got the plain Jane with a side of gravy. The seasoning is so yummy and the fries are crisp and full of flavour. We went again the next day and I got the philly cheese dog ( once again messy to eat) but who cares when it tastes this good. Also got a side of smoky bbq chicken wings and they were delicious. The fries once again were spot on and the little league burger was yummy. Nice casual vibe to this place, gets crazy busy but they also have seating outside.

They were ok, still extremely salty so I only ate the ones that didn't have cheese on it. The burger I literally couldn't eat. I tasted the patty and had to spit it out because it was 80% salt. I'm really unimpressed with my meal.
