I feel somewhat bad writing this review just because I didn't have the fortune to work with the people that are good at this company. If you happen to get Kent Sezen, he is the weakest link. An engineer who is simultaneously rude and when called out on that rudeness, petulant and perhaps even vindictive. He ignores design constraints, and "phones-in" his work, says he's done prematurely and needs payment NOW (see prior review of Kent, its so true). He has a very large ego that is bruised easily. I will give him this: When I asked him to not treat my contractor like his personal secretary, he immediately responded "I quit", and I asked him to stay on because I thought he was over-reacting to me asking him to be nicer. I should've let him go at that moment and its on me that I didn't. At the sake of supporting his competent co-engineers, maybe they are worth using, but it's unfortunate they have tied themselves to this guy.

Additionally the output from the structural engineers was efficiently shown in a virtual meeting describing exactly what changes are required and they worked with the contractor to find the most cost-efficient design. All questions were answered clearly as well as follow-on questions that came up after the design review. After the plans were released and payment was made Lokesh remained very responsive to requests as they come up. I would definitely use Prostruct again if I have another structural engineering project.

It's possible that they'd been there for a long time, but I uploaded the photos to Claude and it strongly recommended getting a structural engineer to assess the damage. I put out several inquiries and ProStruct responded very quickly. I had a free phone consultation with Irvin Chua of ProStruct and he said that he could have an engineer assess the cracked beam and to look for any other sources of damage. Note, that one will need to pay upfront ($875 is their standard fee), which gave me some pause but moved forward as there didn't look to be many structural engineers with a Yelp presence. Irvin arranged for their engineer, Francis, to make a site visit. Francis was professional and confirmed that the foundation and support beams all were in good shape aside from the crack. He went over his recommended repairs and noted that a handyman could handle it and we didn't need a contractor, which saved us money. The report provided was clear and detailed and the handyman had no problems following the recommendations. Repairs are now complete and we have peace of mind that our housing support is solid again.

Whenever additional discussion was needed, Shrey and Marcus were readily available for video calls with us and our architect to review the issues and resolve any outstanding items. Arash came to the house and looked everywhere garage, outside, all the rooms. And thankfully he said there is no foundation concern. Took him I want to say about 40min to look everywhere. They are not cheap. My eyes almost popped out of my socket when I heard about their rate. But I want someone with experience to look at the house. Anyways, there is a little hiccup with the invoice but they reached back to me quickly to resolve it. The inspection cost is separate to the report fee. Just fyi. I recently hired Wei Hong Yang as a structural engineer for a home renovation project. Communication: His email turnaround time is about 12-24 hours after you sign the contract. As a busy professional with many clients and cases, he never answer the phone promptly when urgent matters arose. While I understand that he is a highly sought-after professional, I believe that being busy should not be used as an excuse for poor communication. Competence: While I found his technical skills to be impressive, I had some concerns about the design of the interior spaces. In particular, I found that the floor plan was not very convenient for daily use, and some aspects of the design did not take into account practical considerations. As a first-time home owner, I found that his fees added up quickly, and I felt that he was primarily focused on getting the project done quickly and obtaining the necessary permits rather than prioritizing my overall satisfaction as a customer. While I appreciate Mr. Yang's structure expertise in obtaining permits, I would have preferred a more customer-centric approach, with greater attention paid to my needs and preferences. Overall, I would NOT recommend Mr. Yang to others. If you read till here, I would advise you to carefully consider the costs (time + problems left on home owner + money) and to communicate your needs and concerns clearly throughout the process.
