Possibly the very WORST experience I've ever had!!! Called for an estimate on chipping. Sent jpg, and invited on-site view/estimate. Took one 10 second glance while I tried explaining what cannot go thru chipper we want cut into 1 foot slabs for firewood. I have sorted the wood into 2 piles, one of long leafy branches, and the other cut trunks. He huffed & puffed about it being useless, ignoring my firewood comment. I actually had to stop mid sentence and wait for his attention to come back to me when he realized I was silently just looking at him & waiting. He then proceeded to tell me he can only give me an hourly rate. But not professionally... oh no, he had to tell me the way I stacked the wood piles up is pathetic and makes his job impossible! Really dude??! At this point I just said clearly we not doing business and we can just quit right now! But oh no!!! That wasn't enuf!! He had to self justify x3 times on the walk to the gate why my job site is pathetic, to which I just responded I have stacked the wood the way the city chippers request when they do their annual chip, and I wasn't going to leave hundreds of branches strewn across my yard, but its a mute point, please just shut up and leave! They came in to clear a road for Cal Fire access. The crew workers were nice and tried to do a good job but the crew boss was rude and unprofessional. They brought out 3 or 4 lift trucks but the boss wouldn't let the workers use 1, so they ended up spending the day widdling away at limbs they could have taken down quick. They also wrecked my fencing and didn't even offer to fix anything. Good thing my cattle didn't get out. The price I heard they charged was outrageous. Owner made them come back and fix all the limbs they left. Hopefully they didn't charge more. read more

They returned my calls when I was looking for a tree service, but when I had a problem suddenly they change to a "we'll call you back" and never do. They do a good job on trees, but you can't trust the woodchips. Mine were FULL of trash from Gatorade bottles to terra cotta roofing tiles and 2x4s. We don't have a terra cotta roof, so they are from a different job site somewhere. The trash was all under the fresh woodchips from my job site and by the time they dumped it, it wasn't visible. When we started spreading the woodchips, all the trash started coming out. It would have been fine if they would have talked to me about it and made it right, but they got very defensive about how they would remember if they broke a terra cotta roof, basically calling me a liar, then not calling me back. read more

Today was the second time we have had a crew to our property from A&T Arborists. In 2016 they helped us with fallen and falling trees after the heavy rains that year. They were just as punctual and professional today as they were then. What has been most impressive are the men working on the crews. We needed to have some giant Valley Oaks trimmed and a 100+ foot pine removed. 4GT gave us a fair bid so we chose them to do the work. The crew was very professional. The foreman of the job, Ben, consulted us on each tree before they started to make sure we knew what was being trimmed. The owner of 4GT, Morgan, visited the site to make sure things were smooth. Tree branches are heavy and don't always land where they are intended. We had a few minor issues. But here is the the part that stands out to us, everything was repaired or replaced. No questions. I hardly ever do reviews but have made an exception in this case. I've had A&T do work for me in the past and was happy with their work. So, naturally when I had a 90' pine tree that appeared to be dying due to beetles and other work at my rental I went straight to them. I left a message and Steve called me back in a reasonable amount of time. We discussed what needed to be done and made arrangements for him to check out the trees at both locations and call with me his recommendations and bids. Two weeks went by without a word. I called and left a message and still no response. I can totally understand if you are too busy to do my work but don't give me the impression that you are going to do something and then leave me hanging. Very unprofessional and bad form. after getting my tree trimmed by one of the employees from a tree company, and me planning on chipping the limbs myself, I found out the cost of renting a chipper, which put the total cost 250 higher then If I had paid them to do the entire job, I called the man back, And explained the logic behind this, he said he could come by in May when his boss was on vacation. Who wants to wait two months to get your yard back. I had a friend who put me in touch with Charle, they came and gave me a very fair quote and completed the job the next day. I guess Morgan is the owner,,,I dont care if these clowns are 8th generation tree trimmers,,,THEY did not honor their original bid(from Morgan),,,I was told I'd get 5 hours for a bucket trimmer and chipping of brush,,,almost all from easy cutting semi-dead poplar trees,,,They were going to do a smaller job before I was told they would come to my place,,,then someone different called back,,,when I asked for confirmation on the reduced quote that Morgan gave me,,,he told me they charge a half hour drive time to my place & a half hour back to their yard,,,in which workers must be back by 3pm as I was told(& of course a lunch break),,,So all of a sudden my verbal agreed upon 5 hours of work DECREASED to about 3.5 hours(or less?),,,,I then called for Morgan to come back out & re-bid the same job,,,he came w/out calling(like I requested),,,and I was not even done w/morning coffee & gate was locked,,,,then he said he would call me later that day to come by ,,,see work I had already done on same trees,,,& HE NEVER showed nor called,,,,VERY UN professional/Re-nig on their original bid...Id search elsewhere.... read more

Our first project was a removal of a large Pine tree that over powered our house. They carefully removed the tree with no damage to the fence, house or surrounding plants. Project number 2 was stump grinding old trees left on the property. Project number 3 removal of old spruce tree. Recent project was trimming 2 Large Pine trees. Morgan explained that the Pine trees had some bark beetle issues and when I asked how long do I have until we had to removal the trees, he gave us suitable timeline. Also a recommendation of replacement trees to plant so they become established before we schedule the removal in 2 years. I saved for many years to get my trees trimmed. I actually called Scovell tree service and somehow got this company. Scovell tree service was recommended by two other people and I explained this but they never corrected me that they are not Scovell tree service. These people ruined my property, used subpar inexperienced trimmers, single trimmers in trees by themselves, equipment broken and "owner" ignored my requests to speak with him during the job. I would never hire this company. And it breaks my heart to give such a negative review but they are a liability. read more

This was the second time I have used A&T Arborists. The first time was about 5 years ago. I was a bit worried when I saw the bad reviews, but after reading them realized they were more about communication issues than about the actual work that was done. Steven was very willing to spend the time answering my many questions during the bidding process, and gave me a very reasonable bid. He is not just giving the trees a haircut, he is looking at the health of the trees, which was important to me. I did my "due diligence" and got 2 more bids to compare, and not only was Steven's bid the best, one of the others was more than double. Also, I was disappointed that one business did not even send an arborist to do the bid. Steven called me 30 minutes prior to our appt. to make sure my cars were moved from the site so I wouldn't get blocked in. Steven came to the site, reviewed the plan with me, and his foreman, and they navigated the big truck with the bucket expertly down my long winding driveway. Steven left and the 2 guys worked hard all day. They took my opinions into consideration as appropriate, were super respectful, efficient and conscientious. They did a great job!!! And I was outside watching the whole time as I weeded. They left the job site clean, left me wood chips, and offered to drop more off if I needed them for my landscaping mulching. *I did follow up on my initial call to confirm that Steven would be coming to do the bid the evening before. Like medical offices do, I find it reduces the frustrations of no shows. Often paperwork goes astray, and usually they appreciate the call. read more
