Punctual to the minute. Friendly, professional and brave! I could not do what these guys do. Scary! We had two Eucalyptus trees that have become very dangerous as of the last month. Many "widow makers" were falling over the sidewalk and street which made them an immediate concern to the community. Their location made them tricky because of the homes, street and sidewalk. This crew are masters of their trade. As anxiety inducing it was to watch them drop these huge branches from such heights, the relief from when the rope kicks in and safely swings it back to the trunk and then is slowly and safely lowered was quite satisfying to witness. Wow. Sam's will be my first call anytime I need tree work done. I had a 60' redwood, with a diseased trunk, and a lean angle of over 5 degrees due to the root system being compromised from all the rains and some poorly executed digging by my neighbor. I've cut down a few trees, but not like this redwood. Frankly, it scared me. Sam came over and knew just where to cut. The tree didn't split or kickback and actually landed in the perfect spot. The 'tree cutters are comin' to prune the trees.... they will be on the property for 3 days.... came the message. I live in granma's cottage right next to the 600 year old oak and 2 more large shade trees outback....none had had any attention for the ten years I have been living here. Comin' from downunna I have much respect for the bush & her critters.... the crew arrived and started working, gotta say the machinery blew me away.... no smokey dee-seeze al's... all first class optimum tuned machinery.... First day I meet Juan.... he looks latino so I say.... "eh Juan si parli Italiarno pisarno" ,,,,, I shoot at him.... big smile he half understood... spoke 'merican better than I can hahahahahaha connection aye ! The next day they did the big Oak and grandma's cottage 2 shade trees... WOW .... I met Audi and explained another dead pine we wanted pulled and a hedge that had died on a steel trellis... bein' an aussie... I said just chain it up drag the whole nine yards out.. I'll do the rest... talk about value adding with smarts... Audi sent in one 'o' the crew... he cut the the dead pine tree out with a saw by hand.... hand cut the bottom of the dead hedge... then "gorilla'd" it and wrestled it all away from the steel trellis.. rolling it up into the shredder , deal done... no clean up... Perfect... no re-assembley of trellis for the new hedge,,, these cats are SMART. I watched them work the trees for half an hour... I think Juan was "sarge" in the bucket with chainsaw on a rope.... 2 'o' the crew... were monkeying and chasing each main branch all the way to the top.. cutting all the succours... 2 'o' the crew were the "sweepers" ....pickin up and carting... feeding into shredder.... this shredder the RPM sounded in the range of aircraft tech....super powerfull... The finished product.... all the trees on the property look like they have bonsai'd.... These guys couldn't even call me back to let me know why they couldn't make it out. I got a call from another tree service Arbor 1st that they said sams referred. Seriously they couldn't even call to say they were to busy. I lived here in Slo my whole life my family has been here for 100 years we had a plumbing business so I understand customer service and being busy. I guess a call back now days is difficult. We had a large Oak tree taken out that was dead and didn't want to risk it falling at some point on our house. We always get 2-3 estimates and Sam's is always competitive and since we are familiar with the quality of their work we go with them. They are professional, thorough and pleasant to work. The guy who came to bid our job was friendly enough, but our driveway is up a hill, and he peeled out trying to back up, almost crashed, drove two wheels off our cement , cracking off a piece of the asphalt and destroying two of our driveway lights in the process. He said "oh sorry I bonked your driveway a bit didn't I ". He then had the audacity to quote me 6000 dollars for a trim job the other company we will be going with quoted 3200. I was shocked at the quote and then had started backpedaling saying oh there are some coupons floating around out there so you will pay less. So we could probably do it for 5500. Maybe 5000. Possibly 4000. We are not definitely not the cheapest but we are the best, so even though you will be paying more to go with us, we will do the job better". So you're just straight up telling me you will rip me off? Very disappointed with this experience. And actually lost money just getting a quote due to my damaged driveway. If this is even close to any sort of accurate representation of this company I think I dodged a serious bullet. :/ read more

Sam and his crew are professionals without a doubt. Sam came to our house to discuss the work we wanted done and gave us a fair estimate of the cost and when he could have his crew get to work. On work day, he and his crew arrived on time and they worked FAST! They trimmed an oak hanging over our deck and cut down 7 or 8 medium sized trees and two huge cottonwoods that were too close to our neighbor's house. I was sure they were going to have to rent a crane to get those trees out but no need--a crew member climbed the tree and with ropes and a chainsaw, he worked with the guys on the ground to take it down limb by limb. It was cool to watch. Speaking of watching, his crew knew where I was at all times and at one point stopped their work to make sure that I wasn't going to walk near the tree as the next limb was cut down. I wasn't and was being cautious to stay out of the way but they didn't know that and I was happy they were so safety conscious. The driveway was cleared of all branches and debris before they left. We were so pleased with their work. This was actually the second time they've helped us with our overgrown yard. We've had a great experience both times. Sam and his team have also been out to my in-laws ranch way out of town after the storms of 2017 knocked a tree onto their roof. Sam and his team were working hard with so many jobs back then and they made time to go out of their way to help my in-laws despite having more work that they probably wanted.
