We needed a large oak tree trimmed next to our deck, and Golden State Tree Service gave us a reasonable estimate. Several trees along our road also needed to be shaped to be protected from future storm damage. The owner, Jesus, called us to advise they would be approximately thirty minutes late. This was greatly appreciated and very professional. They arrived promptly as advised, and proceeded to work immediately. The main tree trimming turned out to be more extensive than we had expected, and the tree now looks fantastic. The other work they performed for us was thorough and efficient. Their crew preformed productively throughout the day. In addition, when they were finished, all of the tree waste was chipped into their truck. Many tree 'services' leave a big pile of waste, or charge to haul off the wood. Everyone was very professional and courteous. They took great care in making sure our other landscaping was not damaged. Our grounds were cleaner when they departed than when they arrived. Golden State Tree Service is the best tree service we have used in this area. They far exceeded our expectations compared to several competitors we have hired in the past. We had two recommended tree service businesses bid on the services we needed for our very large and old eucalyptus tree that was dangerously shedding limbs. Both bids came within $110 of each other. We went with Golden State even though it was a little more expensive because we felt like Jesus understood what we wanted to keep our beautiful tree healthy. They have been working for over 7 hours now and will be here a bit longer cleaning up and boy oh boy did they do the job well!! I had a huge 45 year old Fruitless mulberry tree that had cracked straight down the middle and was going to possibly fall on my house. I noticed this at 6:00 at night. It was an emergency. I call Jesus immediately. He came over that night and checked it out. He put a strap around the tree to keep it secure. I was grateful to him that he had come over as quickly as he did. Since I was panicking about the safety of my property. He had his crew come out the very next day to cut down all of the canopy on the tree. They were very nice and thorough. They left my yard extremely clean afterwards. Two weeks later they came back and finished the job of taking down the rest of my tree. I was very happy with their work. I plan to have them come back and take care of other trees on my property. read more

Jesus and crew removed an extremely large sycamore tree in the back yard over the top of a carport, it took all day on a very hot day. No issues whatsoever, cleanup was adequate and all wood was removed. Very fair price. Good happy crew, I will use them again if needed. read more

Excellent job and customer service too! We had two oak trees lose large branches with the recent wind/drought. One oak split in two. This was too big of a job for my chain saw and for me to DIY it. Called three local tree service companies and Jesus with Golden State Tree Service was the only one to return our call the same day. Getting good customer service out in the country is difficult now days. Jesus was out the next day for an estimate and his crew came early the following week to trim the trees. Crew worked overtime and completed the job in one day. Cut the oak limbs into fireplace size and hauled out the wood chips. Out of the bigger branch the crew cut log seats for us to put around the fire pit. They did an excellent job sculpting one of the oaks into an umbrella shape over our picnic table. Cleaned up and raked under the trees as well. Jesus provided excellent customer service and a fair price too. Very disappointed with Golden State Tree Services Service. They cut down a large tree in the back yard. The result was the following: 1: a long root is now sticking out of the middle of the lawn 2. Our neighbors yard was left with debris- enough were they called to get it removed. 3. The street in front of our home was left with debris strewn throughout the street. 4. The stump was left unleveled and piles of saw dust was left for yards around the area. 5 empty beer bottles and caps were found in the trash and around the property which was consumed on our property As of this review they have not come to clean up the mess even after being requested to do so. read more

They did a decent job with cleaning up a tree in our yard. They were scheduled to come on a weekend day but instead showed up on a week day with just an hour notice. We had to reschedule some other things to make it work, very inconvenient. Unfortunately, they left several very deep dents in our deck from falling branches. They also managed to to drop a branch on a path light which was destroyed. The workers left the garbage from their lunch tucked under one of our trees...there was a perfectly good garbage can literally 20 feet away. They seemed like nice guys...they just need to try a bit harder and be a bit more considerate. read more

Very very pleased with this company. I had three bids to trim two redwoods and an elm tree in my backyard. This company was quick to come out, on time, and very flexible and helpful. Their pricing was also very reasonable. The work was done very well, efficiently, and no corners were cut. The owner even walked the job after work was complete and noticed several dead branch's left and had them cut out of the trees without me having to ask. Very dissatisfied with Golden State Tree Service! Their service was recommended by Home Advisor so I called to set up time for an estimate. Jesus promptly returned my call and set up time for estimate, price was reasonable, work order written up and signed. On more than one occasion I was told the job would be done on a certain time and day...No Show...No Show....No show! I finally decided to call another service when I received a call from Jesus that he'd be here in 45 minutes....he showed up late (of course) and completed part of the job. I wasn't real happy with the way he left the stump. Jesus was to return in a day to complete the job. IM STILL WAITING!!!! He did however cash the check for a job he still hasn't completed! I would NOT recommend this company for any kind of tree services. After reading reviews it appears you might have a 50/50 chance to get the job done properly with no property damage....Not worth the risk! read more

These guys are the Best! We had a huge tree uproot during a storm, which took down several other large trees and our PG&E main power line. We were literally trapped in our house due to the huge amount of debris. I called Jesus and he came out and gave us an estimate later that same day. He said they were very busy, but would get to us ASAP. He got a crew out to us the next day and they had the entire job cleaned up in 2 days! We had to move to a hotel because we had no heat or power, but Jesus called me to approve their work before they left. Jesus also helped us by talking with our insurance agent for reimbursement. Not trust worthy. Their employees trespassed on my property several times,and stressed my dogs out. Called the "owner/foreman/ supervisor Jesus who said he was on his way right out. 3.5 hrs later called again only to sit on their answering service for 20 mins. Got Jesus to stop by immediately when I told there dispatcher that I would just go ahead and file trespassing charges. Jesus claimed that maybe there was a language barrier, even though I showed him the no trespassing sights at ask why no translated to in Spanish. Now I have two dogs that are stressed out and a sorry to make it right. All to save walking fifty feet to the corner of my property. read more

I don't know anything about these guys' tree expertise but if it is anything like their cat rescue on a moments notice skill I highly recommend them. They rescued my kitty who was about 50 feet up, after dark, quickly. I was worried because I didn't know them and they warned me that sometimes cats get scared and jump.
