When sitting out on the large patio (so great for ppl watching BTW) there are no patio fans or other normal accoutrements outdoor venues use to help cool down customers. It was very fast and pleasant service by the business owners them selves. They made us feel welcomed and like the way you treat a friend with kindness versus just another customer. We were able to chat and ask the history of their wine and how their business came to be. The wine selections were extremely good. We did a few tasting and bought a bottle for there and to take home. If you're planning to visit, I'd definitely avoid going on a bingo night unless you like a really crowded atmosphere and bingo. The wine was good, but with it being about an hour and a half drive for us, it's probably not somewhere we'll make the trip back to.

Tucked away in the cooling shade of a pecan orchard, this distillery is a hidden gem just outside of Dallas that deserves a spot on every whiskey lover's map. If you're traveling the Lonestar Whiskey Trail, make sure 1845 is on your itinerary--you'll be glad you did. Bob's Southern hospitality made us feel right at home. He gave us a personal tour of their still house, bottling facility, and beautiful rickhouse, sharing their vision for future expansion along the way. You can feel the pride, purpose, and family spirit in every detail of the operation. After the tour, we settled into their cozy tasting room and recorded an episode of The Whiskey Trip--surrounded by great whiskey, good conversation, and genuine Texas charm. It is quite isolated, so I would recommend downloading your map before arriving, especially for the journey home as there is little to no data service in the area. We initially chose to sit outside with our two dogs, who are service dogs, as we wanted to be considerate of other guests, rather than assuming we should bring our dogs indoors. Unfortunately, it was over 100°F, even in the shade, so we asked if there might be somewhere inside where we could sit where we wouldn't bother other guests. There were only two tables occupied in the entire facilities, with a large separate area indoor completely empty. The server was kind enough to accommodate us in there. We tried two wine flights, eight wines in total. A few were quite good, some were just okay, and one in particular, the Lambrusco, really wasn't to my taste. Very sour compared to the usual taste of it. That said, I'm Italian and probably have a different preference when it comes to wine, so this is very subjective. The food was quite good. I had the chicken salad croissant with a side of soup, and both were enjoyable. The experience took a turn halfway through our meal. One of our dogs barked a couple of times when another dog passed outside. About five minutes later, the owner came directly to our table and, in a manner that felt quite confrontational, questioned us about what services our dogs provided. We answered, but the conversation continued with comments about service dogs being trained not to bark at other dogs. And it all felt very unnecessary and beyond uncomfortable. Considering also that we were one of the three tables occupied in the whole winery. I completely understand that businesses have policies and concerns regarding service animals, and we would have been happy to have a respectful conversation about them. However, the way this interaction was handled left us feeling judged and uncomfortable, and unfortunately it overshadowed what had otherwise been an enjoyable visit. I also found the situation particularly disappointing given that the restaurant was almost completely empty and the temperature outside was well over 100°F. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled left such a sour taste that I know I will not be returning. I'm still giving 3 stars because I try to be fair with my reviews. Aside from this interaction, the property is beautiful, the food was good, our server was accommodating, and there were certainly positive aspects to the visit. It's just unfortunate that one interaction had such a lasting impact on an otherwise decent experience.
