Oakstone Glass Company - First installation is botched and Their fix is still crooked

Oakstone Glass Company

You can't excuse yourself and put all blame on Factory's faulty item, because ensuring your product…read more's quality is Part of your job. As the client, it wasn't I who went to the factory and ordered the window, didn't I? It was you! Pro: Good work ethics, they try to fix their mistake and did come a second time promptly. However, Cons: They do super shitty work.... The first installation, as shown in photo, the center frame is completely not aligned with the other window; The fix, as shown in photo, still slightly misaligned. To put things in perspective, here are my orignal windows, by Anderson's, The alignment is perfect. I'm debating between one star and two star, but in the end one star, because 1) they cost my time to call, talk and come wait for them for a fix; 2) end result is still not good but we had to do photography and open house, can't wait any longer. So one star.

Absolutely awful experience with this company…read more - Called for a quote, they booked me 3 days out. - Gave me a 1 hour time window, at the end of the window I call to ask for an update. Surprise! Late, and no update. - Guy gets there and doesn't even need me to be there. He said he can measure from the outside. - No immediate quote. They give me the following Monday - $400. - They booked me, and take half the cost up front. ($200) - They don't show up on the day of. I call at the end of the 1 hour window and he says I'm not even on the schedule! He said it was written on my paperwork but is not booked. He says he will call his guys and see if anyone can come out. I TOOK OFF WORK TO BE HOME. - I call back an hour later because I haven't heard anything. Now he changes his tune - I *was* on the calendar but they're running late. My job is small, why would they pull someone off a bigger job? They want to rebook me for another day. No proactive communication. Incredibly disrespectful staff. Did not care at all that I waited around multiple times, they missed their work windows (which happens - BUT, give your customer an update!), they charged me up front and then didn't show to repair my window. Basically gave me a huge "F YOU" because my job was small. I called another glass place. They had me measure the entire window, and gave me a quote right then. Booked me for the next day. When they were running late, they called me and told me!! They showed up, repaired, and the quote was accurate. The quote was LESS than Oakstone. Dodged a bullet.

I had my shower glass doors installed by Arrow Glass after they were recommended by my general…read morecontractor. Looking back, I really wish I had shopped around. The installation was done in October, but we didn't actually start using the shower until November. By February, I noticed that a thin sliver of glass at the top of the glass wall had broken off. I contacted the company right away, sent photos, and they sent out the owner's son to inspect it. He told me he had never seen anything like it before and needed to take the broken piece back to his dad to figure out what to do. After that visit, I heard nothing for two weeks. When I finally followed up, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and that the damage was caused by "movement in the house." That explanation didn't sit right with me. We live in California--there's always some level of movement--so if that were truly the cause, then this should be something they've seen before on other installs. It doesn't make sense to claim it's from movement while also saying they've never seen it happen. Also, if there was enough structural movement to damage the glass, you would expect to see signs elsewhere--like cracks in the ceiling or tile--but there are none. In the end, I was left with damaged glass after spending over $3,500, with no resolution, no repair options, and no accountability. On top of that, I paid extra for a protective coating that was supposed to prevent water spots as long as I squeegeed after each use. I've been diligent about that--every single time--and I still have water spots on the glass. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Poor follow-up, no real support when an issue came up, and added costs that didn't deliver as promised. I strongly recommend shopping around and considering other companies before committing.
