I live for 2 things: the education non profit I work for, Breakthrough San Francisco, and event planning. I do 2 things for a living: I work for an education non profit, Breakthrough San Francisco, and my family business is event planning. My heart is 100% emotionally invested in both. I obviously have a personal connection to both, so naturally...I work really hard at/for both...and therefore I have become very good at doing both!
In addition to my role as program associate at BTSF, I serve on BTSF's Young Professionals Board. YPB helps fundraise for BTSF in different ways including planning and hosting events! Being Events Committee lead on YPB is special to me because it's where my two worlds become one. I get to make my mom proud and show her everything's she's ever taught me as an event planner, and I get to give back to my students in the program that I love.
On Thursday, January 26th, 2017, YPB hosted our SECOND event. A "Diversity in Tech" event at Instacart HQ downtown. With this event only being our second, and of course being a nonprofit, our budget was very very limited. One of our board members is an employee at Instacart, so they were gracious enough to donate the space for the evening. Our search for the right caterer(s) had the same approach; high hopes to receive in-kind donations. Months before our event, I received an email that changed my life. Devon Desautels is a dream come true. I am not exaggerating. So communicative, asks all the right questions, and made everything seem like magic! I lied in my first sentence. I live for 3 things: the education non profit I work for, Breakthrough San Francisco, event planning......and chicken. On top of being so amazing and accommodating and super communicative and lovely to work with, 415 CATERING DONATED MORE THAN ENOUGH FRIED CHICKEN SLIDERS FOR OUR EVENT. I AM SAD I ONLY ATE 7!!! Devon if you're reading this I miss them already! They were gracious enough to donate these SMASH HIT Crispy Fried Chicken Sliders (with butter pickles, little gems, tarragon aioli, on a brioche bun), Pea & Potato Samosas (with mango chutney), and their "Sticky Toffee Trifle." (Medjool dates, toffee sauce, mascarpone, orange blossom pound cake). All three items were delicious and beautiful and our guests were carrying them in their arms home, I definitely took a handful of chicken sliders home after the event and ate a couple for a midnight snack. I also don't usually like pickles in my chicken sandwiches but I could not stop eating these sliders and loved the pickles with them. Perfection.
Please contact me at trisha@breakthroughsf.org if you would like to hear more about how amazing these chicken sliders and their staff are. I can go on forever. Devon, Ally, Rachel, and Aerton were so helpful setting up, and were amazing, efficient, and friendly to all our guests throughout the event. (Yes, they came to set up and be of service at the event too!) And the presentation was cuter than any other food set up I've seen at the weddings or formal birthday celebrations I've done. Brava, 100%, A+ all around everything. They are now the first catering company that will come to my mind and out of my mouth whenever people ask for a referral. Being an event planner, I know the stress and nightmare it is when a vendor is not communicative/has their own plans. I also know the stress of finding the perfect food, coordinating all the logistics of delivery, set up, clean up, and everything in between. 415 Catering gave me no stress at all. From every angle, I appreciate them and their support with our event. I cannot wait to keep working with them whether it be for Breakthrough or special events! Thank you for everything, 415 Catering!!!
With all of my heart and Breakthrough Gratitude,
